First things first: My rating of this show is purely because I wish they had been a lot more faithful to the manga. The manga does a wonderful job of telling a story. This anime did as well. But it isn't the story of Code: Breaker. 7/10, but I enjoyed it very thoroughly. If I could score enjoyment, that would be 9/10. They really pulled all the stops out with the music. If there's one thing I can give this series full marks on, it's their soundtrack. Simply gorgeous. It almost brought me to tears after Hitomi finally died. Heike is far too passive in the scene with the Prime Minister, or maybe the Prime Minister just has too much power, it seems to me. There's so much more to Heike's character, and I feel with the way they wrote this season, he really got screwed over. Unless they're going to completely rewrite his back story, Heike is somehow going to end up being the weakest character of the Code: Breaker anime. And of course, the Prime Minister gets... killed/injured by Hitomi at the very last second. Um, sure, we'll go with that. Then everyone breaks apart and.... this doesn't feel like Code: Breaker at all, what are they doing? I mean, Yukihina's presence in the last few episodes was probably only to appease all of his fans, of which I am sure there are many. But did they really have to make Yuki and Oji leave? No, no they did not. Bad writers, it would seem, decided to come up with this... you do not just close up that story, even if you've been told you don't get a second season. Who knows, in a year, two years, even three, it might get picked up again. But no. They just left it like that. I refuse to believe the last ten minutes or so of this show really existed, and will instead now believe that I have been on some really bad fever-dream and this is what came to mind. Because that ending was not Code: Breaker, that ending was the most generic anime ending cop out ever. And honestly, it kind of ruined the series. Originally, up above, when I had written my overall score for this, I had the show as 8/10. I've had to drop it just for the last episode, and really should drop it again, if the music weren't so good and the series overall just so enjoyable. I just don't know what they were thinking, ending it like that. There's so much good material behind that one story, so much they could have done, and it's all been thrown away. So sad. Sad to see that this show, because of that ending, will probably never come back. |

Meh, gave it an 8 because I enjoyed it all and all. Except the end, Ogami's power just keeps getting stronger and stronger whenever hes about to lose. Agreed with Hitomi on some of his points, I actually felt bad for the Code:Breakers who died protecting the people, and they don't even get credit for what they've done. Code:Forever? Season 2? Not the conclusive ending I was looking for. If a season 2 is announced that's great, if not on to the manga. |

xriceball26 said: Also, they introduced a new character on the last episode.. What? Not fair! Maybe they'll explain in the OVA (though it's probably better with another season) That's not happening in the OVA. We already know the story of the OVAs. All the OVAs are more or less comedic slappers to the gloomy air of the actual one, just like the drama CDs. Each of them covers one of the single-chap comedic chapter of the manga (I don't really remember which, but I think we'll get one on that Valentine's Day chapter, probably one sakura viewing chapter and probably the beach chapter.) And as I said, I'm a manga reader, yet I seriously want this anime staffs to just stay away from this series already. I'm actually rooting for "no second season" right now since I don't want them to ruin the manga any further than this. *shrug* |

Now how to score this show.. it started very well but few last episodes were kind of weird. e.g. Ogami became totally different person, but in unnatural way. Also it seems that Sakura was bit too forceful at repeating same slogan and getting into way to whoever and whenever it was possible all over during the show. I guess somewhere between 7-8/10 may be reasonable, because i liked 1st half of the show. Maybe if we get sequel i can understand whole picture better with more story. So far it seems that in future we can expect usual "new stronger enemies appear and secret evil organization lurks in shadows" kind of thing. Back to overall not bad show but to be honest i expected something more of this show. |

I'll be fine IF there's they'll gonna adapt some more just like they did to Fullmetal Alchemist & another continuity like -Yukihina still remains at large -The another antagonist with a white hair (?) -Rui's Lost form?! Where is it? and how exactly could she be alive?! Great, nobody answer about this, really!? This show isn't really over & it's just pathetic! It shouldn't been ended that way & my head about what happened in this show really won't leave me alone so screw it, I'm done! |

I am REALLY pissed off that the Code:Breakers tried so damn hard to save the PM's life! They should've all just stood back and allowed Hitomi to use the last of his power to blow that asshole straight into the Eternity of the Damned!! I'm glad that Hitomi did at least get a little bit of posthumous revenge. Guess I'll pick up the manga while I wait for the OVA. |

Not a bad ending, although it seems Ogami's true power really turned the tides. They never mentioned his true power before, so it's a little unrealistic that he suddenly goes from nearly dying to being stronger than Hitomi. Also at the end, they all feel sympathy towards Hitomi which I don't understand well because they didn't wanted to stop him at all costs. Not bad, though, pretty satisfying ending. I must say, this anime had one of my favorite EDs,I liked it a lot. episode-4/5. |

5/10 for me, this is my first post on these boards, but did anyone else feel like the main female was drawn completely independent of the show? She looks totally different to the rest of the people. The animation/art was below average (honestly this looks like if it aired in 2000 or something), the show itself was super generic and some characters had no sort of development, like the snow guy for instance.. or shadow girl... all in all it was just a below-average generic anime but it was watchable so I would not go so far to say it was horrendous. |

I cannot believe how BAD this show was! What the hell was that ending? So Hitomi, the only guy who makes sense, dies. Not only does he die, but he is actually killed by the very people he is trying desperately to save with a pretty good plan that places all the necessary bloodshed in his already soiled, and dying hands. The Code Breakers, who are just hypocritical childish morons, are being used by an EVIL prime minister aaand just go along with it. Hitomi gives them the perfect chance to escape it, but they turn on him and chastise him for giving them a way out because it has bloodshed!? When all the Code Breakers do anyways are political assassinations!? WTF!!??? And I'm not go into much detail about Sakurakouji, because I don't wan't this comment to turn into an all caps rant about the dumbest character I've ever seen in the history of Anime. I think this IS actually worse than Arcana Famiglia. 2/10 (The 2 is for the art) |

Coming from someone who hasn't read the manga. I didn't think the series was THAT bad but I can easily see this as forgettable... And the conversation Heike had with the PM was such an annoying tease... I'm here waiting for Sakurakoji to...use her powers more or surprise us or something but in the end it focused on "bonds" and junk... *insert big whoop here* So tl;dr: Had potential but was not utilized as much as it could've.... |

So cheesy! Especially when Hitomi burst out and almost attacked the PM. I'm still unsure why Sakura is unburnable, I thought it would explore more of her relationship with Oogami specifically. The ending seems like a clear setup for a sequel, explaining most of the plan in 5 minutes. I didn't feel that any of the characters were memorable. The code breakers had bland personalities, only their powers were the main focus. I will always remember Sakurakouji Sakura's name. This is probably the first time that Hikasa Youko has voiced a character I did not like. Her persistence is very annoying. The puppy didn't seem like a substantial addition either, its dangerous for it to be around a team with super powers. The OP was alright, however, I enjoyed watching the ED very much with its trippy effects. Best part of the show really, oh and Heike always gave me a good laugh. 3/10. |

Seems like everybody likes the first episodes. Me too. And yeah, it is suddenly get boring and there are lot of unexplained things. 7/10 overall, thanks for its earlier episodes. And because I don't read the manga I am curious with some comments here about the anime lack of comedy from the manga. There are some at the beginning of the anime but when it gets boring I forgot that there's "Comedy" tag in MAL's Code:Breaker page. It seems the comedy part is actually really good in this series manga and that's why I'm curious because I see the anime as dark themed. Too bad I'm too lazy to read, at least for these times but I guess I will pick the manga someday. |

6/10 Being generous. I liked the supporting characters more than the main characters. Toki, Heike, Yuuki. Early on Ogami and Sakurakouji went from interesting together to unbearable for me towards the end. It felt like half the series Sakura was on the floor or tied up. By the end it had me confused. What exactly happened. Hitomi's death felt pointless, was a sacrifice more than anything. They told him to stop so many times I was hoping he actually would. Did not like his mastermind plan. Very cliché They're still lapdogs, nothings changed. |

Great, so many ramble till NO one seems to reply with me till it my head keeps bothering me about what happened! And I don't care that IF the show really sucks so bad! Since you seem to be demanding for the answers... First question: Who's that guy anyway? He's in fact an ex-Code:Name, Code:Seeker, also known as just Seeker or the Seeking One (Sagashimono). He's in fact the final boss of the next arc, the Seeker Arc. Seeker was originally a Code:Name, agents of higher rank than Code:Numbers within Eden. However, after he came to know of the truth behind December 32, the key event of this entire series which the anime threw right down the drain, Eden marked him as a threat and tries to get rid of him. After turning against Eden, Seeker formed his own army known as Re-CODEs to battle against Eden, and to answer to your second question, Yukihina was actually part of the Re-CODE. He used to be Ogami's "guardian" as well, protecting him when he was really young (Ogami was targeted because he has the arm of the Emperor and is capable of using the blue flame...I won't go into the significance of that, since it'll be a long story though...) and was the one who gave Ogami his glove. To answer to your third and fourth question, I have two theories that can make her survive in that condition, and yes, her lost form is in fact one of them. First was that Heike actually didn't attack Rui, but only pretended to attack yet help to protect her. Since it was clear that he was playing a double agent by pretending to side with Hitomi, it's very possible as well that he only pretended to do that so he can gain more trust from Hitomi. Second...Rui's lost form. If she fell off that bridge and lose her power, then she should be able to survive that thing...easily. Rui's lost form is a mermaid. She can certainly just dive under the water and get up somewhere safe. And yes, the anime did HORRIBLE job working out any explanation at all. They throw in random stuff like Sakura's past, Seeker and such but fail to explain ANY of it. While I already know about all of them, if I were an anime viewer, I'd be pissed as well, really...no, since I'm a manga reader, I'm damn pissed at this anime. The manga was great, but the anime is a piece of shit. |

The series was okay but they effed it up quite badly to be honest, in that it doesn't really stay faithful to the manga but sorta does at the same time but only for a few instances though. Generally, it's unfaithful and I think the anime studio decided to have a lot of characters introduced early on, so as to properly showcase the entire cast to the audience quickly. I'm pretty sure the core audience for this show was undoubtedlymost of the manga readers who adore the manga, but in doing this, has most likely left many of them disappointed and apalled with this adaption. I've read most of the manga (not up to date with it tbh) but even I was having trouble watching this series at times. However, overall I'm gonna give it a 7/10 because it wasn't completely awful but I'm also incredibly generous when it comes to scoring too. |

I found the premise of this anime quite interesting but because of the female MC being so incredibly annoying and bitching around in stranger's businesses I dropped it back then during ep 4. Some people said in the respective thread it's getting worse with her and it's better to drop it rather 'now' than later. Looking at all the criticism, rage and the rating development on MAL over the course I'm glad I did that. Getting a rating of roughly 7.2 one week after it ended is not entirely bad though but it was constantly falling. I guess it's safe to assume either the hopes were set too high or it was a trainwreck of an anime. |

If I was to watch this anime alone, I probably won't even think of reading this manga (but unfortunately, I've read this manga since long ago already...still like it though, despite of the fact that the anime is a piece of crap...) Since the anime is so much of a piece of crap, they actually will probably never get to one dead fact on all the CBs; the very fact that none of them actually want to work for Eden at all but were more or less forced to...well, all of them except for Heike, actually, but I guess we'll know why Heike still works for Eden soon though. Toki: He only works for Eden just so that shitty PM won't turn to Nenene and let her enter the battlefield again. Nenene was an ex-CB like Hitomi. She can use Magnetism just like Toki. It was first revealed that Nenene was the one who actually gave half of her Magnetism power to Toki, who was unable to use special power back then, resulting in her shorter life span since special power = life force (we only know later that he actually was capable of using Magnetism since birth, and much stronger than the one he has right now as well. It's his Joker's power. However, his Magnetism was sealed by the Pandora Box completely due to it being too powerful). She was shown to have died once already, while protecting Toki (though we still don't have any explanation as to why isn't she "dead"...we do know that she became perma-lost after that incidence due to the Pandora Box though). After that, Toki became extremely protective of her, because he blamed her death on himself as well. He became a CB in order to protect her and prevent the PM from having her go out in battle. Every time he deny to the PM's order, the PM will start taunting him that he'll send Nenene out instead if Toki doesn't fight. That's why Toki can't really go against Eden. Yuuki: Yuuki has been saying countless number of time that he hates Eden. However, we later found out that he was forced to fight for them in order to save his only friend. He actually has this one friend who was bedridden in one of Eden's hospitals. Eden claimed to be the only one who is capable of helping his friend. Due to that, Yuuki actually has to be the dog for Eden in order for his friend to continue living on. Rui: Rui's actually a double agent, kinda. She was formerly a Re-CODE but came into Eden in order to keep a watch on Ogami under the command of the Seeker. The main reason was because Code:Seeker anticipated that Ogami will have to face the same fate with him in the future, which is to be labelled as a threat to Eden and being hunted down (which actually happened). So he sent Rui in to join the CB in order to protect Ogami whenever that happens, so she has to pretend to work for them. As soon as Eden starts their hunt for Ogami, Rui was the first to turn against them immediately because that's her initial duty. Ogami: I can't remember exactly why, but I think it has something to do with his ideal, of burning down all evil until the end of him. He doesn't really follow Eden's command or anything. He only follow his own sense of what's right and what's wrong. You've seen him turning against Eden ever since the very beginning (even in the anime). While Eden gave him the order to go kill this guy, go kill that guy, he actually chooses whether he'll follow it or not himself. We've at least seen that he used to not kill the "evil" as Eden said before because he judges that she isn't evil anymore and can be forgiven...though was forced to kill her later anyway because he doesn't want her to suffer. |

So your saying that the manga actually explains why they are the way they are so they don't seem as narrow minded. If it does that and builds character development then i think i'll read it. This seems to be one of the cases where the anime gives the entire series a bad rap. If you haven't read it which i was going to watch the anime first to see if it was worth reading ,but since they did a horrible job at it i guess i can't judge it based on the anime. |

It's been quite a while since I read the manga and I really didn't get all that far into it, but I can tell you it does a better job of doing it than the anime does. However, I stopped reading shortly after Yuuki was introduced (and trust me, he was introduced MUCH later in the manga than he was in the anime. I think they introduced him around the 2nd or 3rd episode of the anime when he wasn't introduced until chapter 35 or so in the manga. That should put into perspective just how much content the anime skipped over. P.S. Remember that short battle between Hitomi & Yukihina vs. Yuuki early on in the anime? Yeah...that never happened in the manga. |
