The group has already decided to kill the evil guy, who is sick. Hijikata did him.

The evil guy is prepared to die and became rasetsu, and led the main guy live. Even that guy who is going to be sick in the future is letting him go.

Sannan has already decided to make them a team since then. The young maiko girl left and it's when Chizuru departed. The main guy with shorter hair and Chizuru went past each other!!

Well i'm satisfied with the ending. Serisawa was as multi-dimensional of a villain i've ever seen. The ending resolved everything, and ryuonuske really did grow at the end. I may end up checking up the main series. Overall a good way to end a good series. It relied on plot, not on fancy action scenes and had realistic characters.

Wow, wow, wow.

Well, I'm glad that Souji didn't kill Ryunosuke with his sword. Maybe he pushed him off the bridge to give him a fighting chance? I doubt it since Souji is Souji, but who knows what was going on in that head of his.

Glad that he survived, and he looks really nice with Short hair. It's great that he grew a little. Serizawa did him some good. :)

Man, now I have to wait for the movies. >.<

I first thought: why are the animation studios doing the prequel after the actual story ? They kind of started out with the 2nd story, then the 3rd, 4th and the 1st came last... Like what's that? Stupid studios.

Just for the record, I really enjoy every character (because they are so different and great in their own way), every second of the anime (with the hole strategy thought, the contemplating moments, the hole anatomy and the figure of all the main characters) BUT this series is definitely missing something. I don't know myself what but it always draws me in and then it dissapoints. Maybe because the hole sesons are to short for such a complex fantasy story to be squashed into just 12 episode parts.

It's because the game this series based on is also released later than the original game..
The original Hakuouki game is released September 18, 2008 for PS2, while Reimeiroku game is released October 28, 2010 for PS2.

omg, this ending definitely surprised me (I didn't watch the sequels), up until the ep 11 this series was a 7/10, but this final episode was perfectly executed, so 5/5 for the ep, 8/10 overall.

serizawa-san will be assasinated by hijikata. i knew that since i have seen Peace maker kurogane how irony since in this series serizawa was voiced by nakata jouji and in kurogane hijikata was also voiced by him.

anyway, good ending though overall i think ryuunosuske character was pretty much weak untill the last minute of the ep. were he finally had the resolved to keep living.

I absolutely loved this episode. Like what someone said above, it really ties everything together well. And there was a kinda melancholic touch about it which I liked. ^^ On the other hand I'm very sad it's over...cause now I have to wait for the movies to come out...and that's gonna take a very very long time. -.-

Honestly, I don't know what to think right now. I thought Ryunosuke being included was pointless. Now don't get me wrong, I liked him, I started crying when I thought Okita was going to kill him, I was freaking out....but why have him in this series in the first place? I think they could have told this story without him, and saved me a few tears in the process. :P

Maybe I missed it, but what was Ryunosuke doing at the very beginning of this series? How did he end up in the situation Serizawa found him in? Speaking of Serizawa, I thought they portrayed him as such a terrible man then tried to make us feel for him towards the end. Kind of worked, but not really, imo.

I'll need to think about this for a few days before giving it a rating. There's a part of me that thinks this season was pointless and stupid, yet it was nice to see the creation of the Shinsengumi.

The anime overall was quite interesting and the plot was quite good, I'll rate it as an 8/10 (plot-wise) but I was a little disappointed with the amount of fighting scenes in the anime. In my opinion, I feel that the anime would have been far more interesting if there was more action but overall it was a good anime.....my final rating is a 7/10........and does anybody know if Ibuki appeared in the earlier series?

Well, it ended.
Serizawa knew he would die. I kind of pity him... But without his death there wouldn't be peace for Shinsengumi.
I'm glad Ryuunosuke survived. Souji was so cute in letting him live.
I wish Ryuunosuke would have met Kosuzu a last time.
I can't believe Chizuru met the Shinsengumi right after Ryuunosuke have left them.

Well...fuck me. Ibuki lives!

Hijikata does in Serizawa right after S goes all demon.

Souji doesn't kill Ibuki; he just knocks him out over a bridge.

Fast forward to a few months later: Ibuki's alive and well...and honestly? I like him better with short hair. And yes.....there's a cameo from Chizuru, who's on her way to Kyoto; Ryuunosuke and Chizuru pass each other.

Maiko girl leaves for home; Blonde lady is killed by Serizawa.

and...thus brings us to the end of seaon three. Maybe they'll do something with Ibuki for the future since well...

Hmmm to me it worked that they did it in reverse. Because seeing the first aired season got me to actually care about the characters. If I didn't know they were dying, if that didn't get me to know more about the real world Shinsengumi... well, if all that didn't happen I wouldn't have given a shit about their earlier stories. The drama of the first story made everyone have a deep sympathy for the characters and made them want to know more about them. Especially for this kind of show that relies a lot for the viewer's affection towards the characters.

Remember Sekkaroku. That one pretty much didn't have any story/plot, was just a retelling of events from the point of view of the main guys. If you didn't know the first season, would you actually care about Hekketsuroku and not get bored to death? Hekkutsuroku was my favorite Hakuouki part because of the insight it gave to my fav character xD

It is very unlikely, but I do hope they will make another season because this is, in my opinion, the best shoujo show, which manages to be much more than just a shoujo show.

im sad serizawa san died,he is the first 'villain' i loved,he was actually not a villain in my eye,he tried his best rough way to make them stronger.

but why he needed to kill oumi san T.T

but with this, everything comes to fit together in the 3 seie - expect ibuki - why he dont got killed by devil souji? :P i mean, he dont appear in other series.the only thing i can bing up because he was the main chara i nthis serie :/ still nice to see he bring out serizawas will...

I didn't anticipate there being an issue with Shinpachi, I would have thought some actions with Okita to be far more likely. But Saitou continued being awesome. And I do have to give Hijikata respect as well in not backing down despite knowing about the illness.

It wasn't like Serizawa was looking to change his ways as the end was coming on even though I felt sorry for him. He was somewhere at the point where I thought he really could be doing this so he could go down in a blaze of glory.

Wow, Okita looked so sinister near the end that I was worried he was actually going to kill Ryunosuke! The scene where Ryunosuke and Chizuru pass by each other was really nice and symbolic, almost as if Ryunosuke was passing on the torch as protagonist of the series to her. XD My only real complaint about the ending is that there was no resolution to Ryunosuke x Kosuzu... hopefully we get some kind of OVA or special in the DVDs that shows if the two ever met again. Even though romance isn't really one of the series' genres, it makes me so sad not knowing if they get together in the end.

This is by far my favorite Hakuouki series. I enjoyed the hell out of it (only the first 2 or 3 episodes were 'meh' to me). I think part of the reason is because I never knew exactly how the shinsengumi officially formed, and I really do love learning about history. Not to mention Serizawa turned out to be an interesting guy. I thought he would be taken out in a completely different way, but I like this a lot more.

And Ibuki went from unbearable to an ok guy. Thank god. Souji surprised me too, I'm glad he let Ibuki "test his luck". It would be interesting to see Ibuki again.

She wanted to die with him. This may sound strange, but I thought it was beautiful that Serizawa killed her himself rather than have her caught up in the mess with Hijikiata & co, and have one of them kill her instead.

The point of having Ryunosuke was because of the major point the series was trying to make about there being different types of "Samurai". Not all Samurai are the same. Some are corrupt, others have no master and do what they want, some are farmers trying to make their dreams come true, some where just born into it with no desire to be one (ie. Ryunosuke).

He witnessed them attacking Serizawa. They can't leave any witnesses to the "crime", especially since everyone in the group knows that Ryuunosuke was Serizawa's lackey and not 'official' Shinsengumi.... It would've been suspicious in the eyes of a 3rd party that Ryuunosuke suddenly joins the Shinsengumi after Serizama's death. <---- which could eventually lead to people finding out they assassinated Serizama....which of course, they do not want people to know.

But anyhow... Man I LOVED this ending. I couldn't help but smile when Ryuunosoke walked by Chiziru.

(But darnit... I wish the Reimeiroku game was localized now...cuz I've seen some interesting art from the game that didn't occur in this anime........... <,< >,>)

I do wish we'll see Ryunosoke again but considering he's supposed to be avoiding the Shinsengumi now....not likely lest they make some fun alternate parody spinoff thing...(or....something post season 2 timeline? I dunno how feasible that could be though...)

Serizawa was a good man. He loved the guys from Roshigumi as if they were their own children. But, as is shown in the anime - sometimes to be successful in this world, you must "play the villain."

Idk but am I the only one who didn't really like Serizawa in the end? I don't hate him but I don't like the whole "Ryunosuke, you have to live on" thing. Sure he helped the Shinengumi out when they just arrived but 1) he's arrogant as fck, 2) who does he think he is, acting all high and mighty spouting his ideals about "becoming a true samurai by becoming a demon", he doesn't have any right to critize people around him how they should behave in order to become a "real" samurai and 3) he caused at least the same amount, if not more, trouble for the Shinsengumi and made their reputation lower than those of the rounins ._.
I know the anime tries to pull off the "misunderstood evil guy with a secret soft spot" but idk, burning shops down, blackmailing people, treating geisha's like shit and killing random people isn't really likeable, no matter how many "good" things he may have done in the end.

I personally liked this prequel a lot more than the 1st season, the 2nd season was better than the first one imo because of the emotional events they managed to pull off in just 10 episodes but Chizuru is a less likeable main character than Ryunosuke so yeah, I liked this season a lot. I enjoyed the background story of the Shinsengumi and it's memmbers, it feels like they had more character development in this season than in the other 2 combined... :) 8/10, pretty good.

I wish there'll be an OVA or reference to how Ryunosuke is doing though, the only thing the ending lacked a bit for me... Yeah I know he's alive and well but I want to see what he's up to, if he found friends or comrades and stuff like that...

I was totally going to complain that the series brought up Okita's um... psychopathic(?dunno how else to describe it?) personality as sort of a sub-plot, but never brought that to a close, but the fact that Souji showed mercy in the end meant that it did sort of close? :'D

Serizawa's death... it was nice =v= I liked it, it was a good ending for him.

All in all, the S3 ending was pretty nice~ I find it impossible to feel happy after Hakuouki endings because of the inevitable tragedies at the end, but when you compare S2 to S3, S3 was definitely a [happy end].

Nooowww.... Does ~anyone~ at all know where I might be able to find Otomate Party 2011-2013 OR the 2011 Hakuouki seiyuu event in English or Chinese subs? T_T I want to see me Tori or Miki, but I don't understand a word of Japanese? XD

I have to give this season props for Serizawa's portrayal. Based on the first episodes I would have happily cheered on his death, but I really felt for the guy at the end. Especially how he looked out for Ryunosuke and urged him to cling onto life as desperately as in episode 1. I thought they would kill Ryunosuke for sure since he doesn't appear after that, but I like how Souji spared him. I had a feeling they'd show us Chizuru at some point, her passing Ryunosuke was like the passing of the torch. Those full circle moments are always good.

As a whole I enjoyed how this prequel not only showed the backgrounds of the main guys from the Shinsengumi, but how their group was formed and what led to the beginnings of season 1. This takes me back to what Heisuke said at the start of season 1 about the old and new Shinsengumi. That statement was an enigma to me until this season and now it's all clicked together. I also feel like this helped me see S1 in a better light.

7/10, not bad for a mongrel!

It was a good final episode. I was shocked when the Shinsengumi tried to kill Ryunosuke, at least he gave him a chance.

1. Characters. +1. Ryunosuke was actually quite a good character, and in the very end he became a really respectable one, I really liked his image in the end. Souji was cool too, as well as the guy who's shared Serizawa's school, and Serizawa himself was kinda respectable samurai... or at least compared to the rest of the Shinsengumi.
2. Atmosphere. +1. It really did have that samurai feeling when it counted.
3. OST. The ED was nice, although the OST didn't impress me much.
4. Animation. +1. Well, the anime does have a pretty good animation quality, to the point I'd have really liked if it was invested in a better story.
5. Background story. There was almost none, which is why I didn't care much for most of the cast. Too bad.
6. Storyline. The plot consists of Serizawa's assassination really.
7. Ending. +1. It was good actually, and really good at the very end.
8. Drama. +1. I'll give a point here, because there was some level of drama, although not a high level at all.
9. Overall affect. +1. Although I felt bored for the first half of the show, I grew to like it eventually, and I even find it a not that bad samurai now. There was that uneasy feeling in the air at whole the time, but I guess that's inevitable, as the Shinsengumi years were really dark.
Overall score: 6/10.Overall, it wasn't that bad, I do like it for some points really.

Hakuouki Reimeiroku was better than the other seasons. The pacing wasn't so fast, there is actually sword fights with animation! yay! It doesn't feel like a otome game cause there's is no Chizuru but the main characters does resemble each other. They are useless and treated like support characters :P The best part was Serizawa's character, he was a great pseudo villain!

I honestly don't know what to think at the end of this series. What was the point of the protagonist? He was worthless from day one to the last day. Why did he suddenly become so loyal? Some form of Stockholm syndrome? I honestly don't get it. And what was the point of that romance they introduced?! No clonclusions, no nothing, they just never met again. The instant transformations were really silly as well. No matter how you look at it, if you were ever transformed like that you would be confused, and not instantly battle ready like here.

Serizawa got what's due to him in the end and I don't why Ibuki tried to save him badly even though he belittled him by calling him a dog. I understand he saved him on the brink of death, but surely he repaid him by that ill-treatment. The series was fine on my part but I never understood Ibuki's significance in the story, unlike Chizuru. I believe he was unnecessary in the story, he did not know sword play or have a major impact in the story.

Man, now I have to wait for the movies. >.<

But why did they want to kill ibuki ? Wasn't he a friend ?
