i found machoboy and meganeboy quite annoying, especially the second one...

Why don't they just give the info without being so annoying, not to mention their's theory as good as sea monkey...

Well, Chitanda Eru's eyes still give me the chill, one of the best eyes out of all anime's characters for me...
And for Houtarou, don't be so excited, your are the hero for energy conservation's community...

I think so as well, her eyes are very beautiful :D, and when she saw all the colors and passed out that was hilarious xD.

My facial expressions during the Chitanda drunken process:
:) --> :] --> X] --> XD --> 80 --> 8|

Anyway, laughing into her clasped hands (tipsy) were probably the cutest part about it. Kinda went downhill after that (drunken --> Plastered). She probably had a hangover when she woke up :/

Sounds like Hongou is out for some serious blood. It's no fun killing anyone if nobody can figure out how they did it right?

I'm still watching this show mainly for animation quality, but this is quite a nice arc, but they delay the conclusion so long that I get bored sometimes.
I noticed that before Chitanda passed out, when she started to get angry, buy before the close-up of her red face. They failed because they forgot to make her mouth move, it was just a static image instead.
I almost never read discussions after I made my post, if you want to reply PM me or post on my profile page.

My theory is that: It's NOT A LOCKED ROOM CRIME

The guy who opened the door just pretended that the door was locked.
When using the master key, we heard a single click midway turning it, proving the door became unlocked at that moment. If he had relocked it, and unlocked it after, it would've been 2 clicks. It was LOCKED. :)

hmmm...you're right.

i guess i need to revise it.

Theory: The room was locked, the crime happened with the room locked. The culprit passed through the door (using the master key), killed the victim and left the key of the room inside. But before the culprit left, the culprit locked the door from the inside.

This is boring...however, it doesn't matter how the culprit killed the victim, what is important is to identify the culprit.

What is interesting is the master key, it's a holder of many keys. However, each key can only open a single room(from what i observed). THE MASTER KEY IS A COLLECTION OF KEYS.

What is interesting is, HE OPENED THE DOOR USING A KEY ON A SINGLE TRY. Which implies that he already know THE KEY that needs to be used or he used it more than once.

The problem is Katsuta is with a girl, he has no alibi with the girl if he is the culprit.

Then it won't be a problem if KATSUTA AND THE GIRL ARE BOTH CULPRITS.

I thought that was a mistake at first too, but it wasn't. It was just a bit of a time-skip, with the visuals lingering on that scene while the audio from the next scene came in over the top. While Chitanda's sitting at the table and we hear her start speaking, the stupid-hair girl is still in the room with them, but in the next scene she's gone, though we never saw her leave.

I found this the most boring episode so far, nothing really happened, and Chitanda was more annoying to me than amusing. Hopefully the next one will make up for it.

Drunk Chitanda was so cute the whole episode. None of the theories were good but I'm sure they have been of use to Houtarou. I was thinking about how they would fill in the first half of the episode before having Houtarou solve the mystery and preview answered that. A tea with Irisu sounds nice and will possibly open Houtarou's mind. Lastly, Chitanda talking about kaleidoscope didn't make any sense but I'm sure Houtarou will make something out of it. Such a nice pair, that is random Chitanda and smart Houtarou; they complement each other so well!
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

I half agree with you, i'm watching it because the art is amazing, however.....I'm really pulling for something to happen between Chitanda and Houtarou romantically. That's what keeps drawing me to the show...although the mysteries aren't bad and some are actually entertaining.

Withoug Chitanda getting drunk by the chocoloate (which was obvious as soon as she put it out, though) this episode was totally lame. It was basically just blabla. Nothing happened except that drunk behaviour of Chitanda. It was cute though. Thought she would do something stupid to Houtarou at some point.. :D

The last episode had me hyped but yet, this episode was a let down imo. It reminded me of the first episode: a bit boring. Honestly, I like the idea of a more slice of life mystery instead of your typical mystery like detective conan.
Chitanda is annoying me. I really dislike those characters in anime and thus I would avoid an anime because of her personality. Way too...can't really find the word so I'll say "moe" (think that's the first time I ever typed that word and hopefully the last). Yet, since the male characters interest me, I'm still gonna stick with it.

Houtaru - Kyon
Chitanda - Haruhi

The character personalities don't match enough to sue for one... And some of the same companies worked on both == Hard to sue yourself.

I was being sarcastic because the comparison was that much retarded.

Also no matter which studio adapt them, Hyouka and Haruhi both come from novels and the studio does not have the right over anything related to the franchise other than what they got permission to have (Which is limited to the anime alone in these case).
Haruhi's author could sue Hyouka's author so it's not about being able to sue yourself or not.

That was a boring ep. Dialogue after dialogue, if they were going talk all episode at least put some more animation to it rather than 4/5 guys sitting at a table talking and paper & books full of text that flashes for 1 sec. This feels like a really low budgeted anime.

I saw that too, if you look closely, Sawakiguchi was in the room with them when apparently Chitanda starts talking and she's not moving her lips, but in the next scene with her talking, Sawakiguchi is gone. That was simply a scene transition. This was adressed before, and I agree, it made me think it was a mistake too at first.

Couple of sticking points leading up to episode 10:
The killing weapon is not mentioned yet
Message "why didn't they ask EBA" at the end of ep 8 and 9

IMO there are effectively two mysteries here, the murder in the film and Houngou's failure to disclose the killer. Another thing to consider is Houngou did not have prior experience in writing mysteries.

Therefore we can probably assume that Houngou herself has not finished the script or does not know or undecided on the killer. Another possibility that comes to mind is, she is writing the script together with Eba. That explains the message and thus the need to ask the fourth people with an opinion (Eba)

I like this arc more than the previous one(s). It wasn't a great mystery, but I liked how they delivered it and introduced the 3 "detectives". I hope the show won't go back to the random and obvious mysteries now.

"I'm Ciao" - Eru, i just LMAO'd at that.

That aside, not so ok ep for me. Maybe because so far, the mysteries in this show aren't intriguing to me.

But I'm keeping my faith, if it's KyoAni, I'm definitely going to wait until they pull something really grand.

I haven't watched Hyouka since episode five, patiently waiting for gg to catch up with the subbed episodes. Well, that clearly didn't happen so I switched to Mazui (they're doing a good job in my eyes) and watched all four episodes today.
Seriously! How was I able to withstand for such a long time? I *loved* getting that certain feeling again while watching Hyouka. It's one of those anime that just feels right while watching. Needless to say that I'm still a big fan of that show and that I can highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching a nice little mystery.

Regarding their current "case" I'll hold back with my opinion until the next episode since it most likely will be solved then. So, until tomorrow.

It is interesting that there's actually a book, written by Agatha Christie (mentioned in the last episode), named "Why didnt they ask Evans?"---> http://goo.gl/Ojw7H

Yeap, I know it's not the same, but it's alike... ''EBA''...''Evans''...
I don't believe it's a coincidence, do you?

I also believe the title of the arc/novel is a clue. Either Eba is Houngou or as you wrote she knows something about the whole thing or is a co-writer.
Or it can also be like someone mentioned, it is all a setup to test the classic book club.
