Uhm ... fairly disappointing. I imagined something more 'horror' like, but I suppose it's my own fault. Yuuko kind of irritates me. The ending was good though.

Horror, mystery, really?

Never mind, I liked it, and I pretty much understand everything...

But did anyone notice similarities between Kirie and Yuuko? I don't wanna search online so I don't spoil myself...

I haven't read manga, and I don't intend to.
5/5 for me...

Great job on Animating and Production. The only problem is they skipped the encounter of Yuuki and Teiichi. I wish they show that next episode. They should introduce the characters more. Well, This episode is great and hilarious though kinda disappointing for those who read the Manga.

Totally different from what I hoped. I thought of this as an Horror anime. But this tends more toward to Supernatural/Comedy genre. Anyway pretty good episode, still.

This is not what I expected.
I thought this is supposed to be horror...

But nevermind that! I loved it!
Horror + Comedic Characters = Full Of WIN!
I wish I could become a member of the club!
Hahaha. This is good. My new Sunday anime!

Yuuko is so hot! I wouldn't mind having a ghost like that haunting me...
Okonogi is so cute!!! Love her airheadedness and extreme reactions!
Kirie is our Kuudere.
And Teiichi is the freaking guy on this harem!

I will see this through the end!

I loved the manga and I love the anime, but I think all the characters but Yuuko looked better in the manga.

It doesn't seem they're gonna follow the manga plot line 100% though...

>Below average animation quality
>Gives Fate/Zero S2 a 10 when the show isn't even finished yet

Problem ?
as you may know Fate/Zero S2 is a continuation of the serie, and S2 started in the middle of the story, as a beginning of the fights, so rating it a 10 is not weird, considering the great job they did, and you can think of this rating as an episode rating, pretty sure you're gonna find some 10s for this already. And anyway even if you see a rating for 4 episodes or 8 or for example the long running Anime, I think it's LOGICAL to think that this rating is for the episodes that have been watched or aired..

coming to topic, I've lost the interest in watching horror (not that I had one to begin with), after seeing the horrible ending of Another (thought it was mystery, not horror, thus I had high hopes for it, but the ending, last 2 episodes, ruined the whole show, well for me). However I decided to come here and see some opinions to see if this is worth it or not, but I saw that wild post where "Horror+ Fanservice= ..etc" and lost all interest, worst combination ever. but well I've watched the 1st half of the episode, still not interesting, for me.

Yay! she has an anime but kidding aside, I had mix feelings regarding the first episode.

I have no clear view to where the plot is going will it be a paranormal semi-detective scheme or a highschool batoru involving yureis and other shits. I don't expect horror in this show because to begin with, I dont appreciate horror because I don't pussy out on real horrifying things like real guts and blood so why would I be in anime but still I do expect some psychological aspect or mystery to add some spice into it.

The animation was decent - while there are some parts that looks too normal and bland, there are parts, especially the song animation(dunno if it was a combination of OP track + ED song animation), that had good mix of colors and is catching to the eye. Overall, I was entertained, though I don't think I've really expect anything excellent from this series.

really beautiful animation and also some good laughs...really loved the whole hilltop sequence at the end - the fall colors were so stunning and rich...definitely have fallen in love with yuuko...guess i just have a thing for ghost girls...strangely enough, her seiyuu actually reminds me of the seiyuu who voiced another woman name yuuko on xxxholic - two different people, however...

And here I thought all the manga adaptations I'm reading will get faithful first episodes. Apparently not.
Why is Kirie in there already? That elevator scene only has the three first.
And what was the point of repeating the first parts with Yuuko this time? Ugh.
At least they can do the atmosphere. And the art is pretty decent.
And most of all, Yuuko. Animated Yuuko.
I'll accept it this time I guess. They'd better do it properly next episode.

Oya oya, this didn't go according to keikaku at all.
It sure was fun to see them fooling around animated, but throwing all main characters out there like they were there from the start was fucking weird. In manga they're properly introduced one after another, starting with Yuuko but it's not clear to anyone she's a ghost at first. And iirc there shouldn't even be Kirie in those events animated here.
Skipping aside, it was fun to see. Animation's good and character design as well, and i was afraid it'd be not good enough but Yuuko looks great, which is the most important in the end.
Also dat Yuuko voice, very fitting in addition to being great. I found myself a new promising seiyuu.

The first episode shows basically what the series is all about. Although I could agree with your statement.

I was thrown off because there is no horror element in this series, but we get a comedic cast of characters. Should be pretty good.

That aside.. I love the 1st episode I didn't read the manga but I did read the plot and character background so I'm not really confused w/ the 1st episode

Overall it's a good one and hopefully the rest will be good as well

Wonderfully animated. This has some of the best animation I've seen from this season's shows.

OP at the end was really awesome.

Quite cleverly done episode where the same set of events is depicted with and without the ghost girl.

Looking forward to more.

Out of the anime that aired this spring, this one is one of the most promising and most interesting as it seems. I enjoyed the pleasant mix of comedy, mystery and (to a certain extent) drama. Right now I'd like to know more about the mysterious girl Yuuko and her story.

We have 2 wait & C.

Probably not good at all, seeing as they're not even remotely about the same thing.

No one will die in this anime full stop.

And personally, I don't mind that they didn't do a straight adaptation of the first chapter, I thought that this kind of start was very amusing and somewhat clever. Not bothered one bit at the fact that they basically repeated the same sequence twice as the first time, it was more what's going on, the second time I was just laughing at Yuuko's interactions with Teiichi and messing around with Momoe.

Well I kind of expect the next episode to start introducing the main characters a bit more properly. At least it won't take too long as there's only like 4 of them.

How this happen?
Why Silver Link seens to think i'm a retard who need someone to explain what i'm watching? It's not funny when one explain the gag.

A shame... 4/10 at best.

The sad thing is they seem to have captured the mood and dynamics of the series and characters. All for nothing.

Well I'm not always judging an anime based on its first episode, lets just see the next episode.. But I think this is an interesting one..

Choir Jail is great. Can we go back in time and use that as the Another OP?

I have mixed feelings about the opening scene being repeated. On one hand, the two scenes were cleverly scripted and perfectly executed -- without a doubt, the scenes with and without Yuuko worked equally well and played off of each other brilliantly. But, on the other hand, like PaninaManina said, I felt as though it was an affront to my intelligence to assume I needed to watch that same scene again with Yuuko visible and audible, for two reasons: 1) it was obvious she was there, even if us non-manga readers didn't know exactly who she was, and 2) it would've been so much fun to rewatch the scene without Yuuko and guess exactly what she was doing and saying at any given moment.

I don't think repeating the scene was an explicit waste of time -- because, like I said, the execution of the scenes themselves, outside of their context within the series, was flawless. But I believe it was an implicit waste of time.

Indeed I will love Momoe as much as I fell in love with the character design of April in Gosick. She looks so much like her.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has made the comparison.

Being the Gosick fan that I am, I thought I'd be the only one to draw the comparison, too. The animation of her running up the stairs and then twirling on the path to the hill was what solidified the comparison for me.

For any anime adapted from a manga there will always be the manga purists who don't like any deviation from the original. Those of us who haven't read the manga don't have any strong opinions on how the opening should have been done and so you usually see some divergence in ratings and opinions when there are changes. Personally, I found this to be an extremely effective opening episode. I've met the four main characters, I've got a rough idea of their personalities, and I'm curious to find out their backstories and how they ended up together in the club room.

As to the repeat of the first sequence, the big question is did it add something on the second time through? Yuuko's presence in the repeated sequence added a lot and gave us even more of an idea of her personality. The added interactions with Kirie and Teichi were both amusing and revealing.

But, even though I enjoyed the first episode and will grant the animators some artistic license, for the gods' sake don't give us a forced anime original ending. If this is still continuing as a manga let there be room for a second (or more) season(s). (And I'm cheering for a guy x ghost ending although it's probably early to start shipping characters.)

Nice idea to show both perspectives like that, but the changes should have been a bit more varied and interesting to make up for showing the same events twice.

Misunderstandings because he happens to give an answer to what's on her mind when talking to the ghost. Not so good. Ghost girl's antics were amusing though.

The characters aren't that good, except for Yuuko. Playful and cute ghost girl is always great.

The artwork is nice, but I think a bit of a slower pace of cuts would have suited most scenes much better.
