THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Showing both sides: the guy (can see bucho), and the girls (normal people who cannot see bucho). Both lol and scary!!

Bucho being the bad guy/target of the scary stories at school.

So the bucho is a ghost who doesn't remember anything and the guy got possessed... that end... scary thing's going to happen?

OP aired at the end.

Avery good series of mystery and horror mixed with fan service ecchi of Yuuko. One problem for all, she is a ghost and you cannot tap her less you die and are one too. Some here are some thoughts of mines:

About Momoe Okonogi, when I saw in the following,

RIGHT AWAY! I felt vibes from her:
http://myanimelist.net/character/40021/Avril_Bradley
Indeed I will love Momoe as much as I fell in love with the character design of April in Gosick. She looks so much like her.

Loved how Momoe was funny in the spoiler
as Yuuko teased her with the papers.

I will come to love scenes like the following,

When Yuuko and male MC are hilarious in duet comedy like that.

Yuuko’s body and fan service in the spoiler
is so far light in showing of her breasts but that is one of her charms that Kirie does not have and has a complex of…..breasts basically.

I liked the way things came out comedically in the spoiler
Yuuko and that MC male. ROFL there.

Oh what a lucky pervert in the spoiler
pointless to feel though, she is a ghost but I guess sensation wise he is a virgin so I guess it’s a lucky thing for him.

End art in the spoiler
is catchy.

Yuuko is super mischievous and hilarious as well as the rest of the main cast.

Momoe got the short stick though as she can't see Yuuko. It was funny to see her fright and frustration Yuuko caused her.

Damn, Yuuko looks quite beautiful.

Although this series will probably not contain the horror/mystery theme on the level of Another, I'm definitely going to enjoy its beautiful art and that OP song.

5/5 :>

Try not to think of it that way. If you think it's going to be anything like "Another" your setting your self up to be disappointed when it isn't similar to that series.

I'm not digging the whole lack of introduction part. But the club room scene and the way it plays out was silly and amusing.

For me, someone who's read the manga, it's not a big deal. But for some newcomers i could see them downright confused at what's going on. Who are the characters? What is their relationship with one another? It's like this episode feels like episode four rather than the premiere.

I sure hope they do a back story to tell us what were watching and why these people are together in the club room. But even with that I'm rather annoyed at the producers. Didn't they learn from "Guilty Crown" that reverse engineering the exposition in a story arc doesn't work out very well.

The characters themselves are nice. It's almost as if they took my imagination from the manga and put it in the anime. They all act and seem who i thought they'd be: Kirie, the stern tsundere one, Momoe, the inquisitively naive goofy girl, Teiichi, the mild mannered and cordial typical male, and Yuuko, the flirtatious and playful eternally bored poltergeist.

It was a decent start. Would have been great with the proper introduction. will keep watching.

Very not so. This series does not have deaths and gore that can on par be with Another IMO. It's more OBE or Ghost Hound kind of with ecchi.

I have to second everything you just said...

Why are people comparing this with Another? Totally different anime.... Another is a horror x mystery and Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is more of a supernatural x mystery with a bit of romance. To me you can't really compare the two too much

I did enjoy this it was pretty funny... I hope it can live up to the manga

Yes, it started out pretty much in the middle. But of course they have to go back to "square one" or else people will be very confused.

And this cannot be compared to Another.

Another : Mystery + Guro + Thriller
Tasogare : Mystery + Supernatural + Romance + Comedy

One is about a killing curse/phenomenon, one is about a ghost.

After watching the first episode, I deduced it was directed by Oonuma Shin as it contained so many obvious camera techniques frequently employed by him (and probably taught by Shinbo Akiyuki). Well, it turns out I was right after checking the staff list..

Anyway, Yuuko reminds me of Arashiyama Sayoko from Oonuma Shin's Natsu no Arashi series; they look alike and are both ghosts in some way! Oh, she's casted by Hara Yumi (aka Takane from IM@S) who is casting a main character for the first time. :)

ah not really the start i expected... manga did a good job overall i expected a more faithful adaptation.
I don't recall Okonogi been so fond of Niiya and if I remember correctly Youko is playful but not like that.
Also the totally neglected the story behind the stone = \
Hopefully next episodes will follow manga more closely.

MMMM not bad at all,it had this mystery feeling so i am already in just because is mystery but still the introduction was kinda weird and as i read the manga intro was better so....time to read it!!

Besides that it looks like its going to be a interesting anime mystery/comedy/Ecchi anime by the looks of it,Yuuko is cute,Kirie the serious face in the anime and Okonogi being the comedy relieve.

Will continue to watching without a doubt and looking forward for more!!

Yeah same here. Though it was interesting to see the same scenes played twice. First without Yuuko then the second with her. Lmao, Yuuko is one sexy ghost. That elevator scene. xD Okonogi is the clueless girl. She sure has no idea what's going on. xD

Overall this was a pretty good first episode. Will definitely get better. Shame they won't cover as much with 12 episodes and the fact that the manga's still going, once every month. Looking forward to more Yuuko though :D

Yeah, I'm not digging the art. Maybe's art is too good for this.
More instances of black blank space being used? There's some in this and Upotte. Feels lazy imo
This doesn't even feel like pseudo-Shaft, let alone like Shaft.

They also screwed up the tension by introducing Kirie so early.
Yuuko looks nice, though.

This would've worked better as a later episode or an OVA.

Based solely off the first episodes, Sankarea is doing a better job. (Deen? Gasp.)

That's basically it. Except I would question the level of comedy both have as in hard to compare. IMO Sakarea has more than this but hard one to judge even for me.

Thing is both have cons in fan service. The zombie is its body and ghost is it presence. As in feel but not really able to do anything. Less you are a ghost. Suicide anyone? Not me.

Sankrea won the comedy for me. In Amnesia it turned me off how they reused the first couple of minutes to explain what was going on in those first couple of minutes. Even though we all knew what was going on.

Sankarea and Otome x Amnesia are very similar on the kind of situation they (main char) find themselves in, but their execution is completly diferent. Sankarea take a more comic aproach overall (both on romance and zombie logic), it gets serious at time but main character usually manages to keep comic relief up.
In Otome x Amnesia the mysterious mood is maintain through out the whole story and comedy usually comes from the interaction between Youko and Niiya.

So I see, and no I read the manga. Not the only one BTW. Normally and logically it's the ghost who decides if it wants to be touched or allow it. If not then it's just transparent.

Well then she has a problem to control her powers or the new options she has as a ghost. Did she not mention she is unsure of her memories or circumstances she died in. That itself is not a good sign. She might not be aware of her powers such as poltergeist possess for example. Not yet, perhaps with time and will she might learn some.

Well they jumped ahead a little in the manga, but that's probably a good thing in the end since it's only 12 episodes. Also that was a comb under the grave stone in the manga, not sure why it's changed to a bell.

Will be interesting to see which parts of the manga they manage to fit in. Yuuko was spot on as far as I'm concerned.

But it can still be enjoyable.I guess its kinda of an interesting way to look at things . The characters are pretty okay to me . But it seems like The main character is ignoring Okonogi when she is talking to him and Yuuko is talking to him at the same time ...

I guess - and hope - that the next episode will tell the whole story of how he met Yuuko and introduce the characters. Otherwise it would be really rushed.
Anyway, I gave this a 3/5. But I'm positive that it's going to be good.
But Kirie and Momoe are even more annoying, when they are animated and have voices.

Ugh. What the fuck were they thinking starting from here?

I'm a huge fan of the manga and I'd like it if they would, y'know, actually treat the story seriously instead of making it secondary to the fanservice.

The first 11 minutes of this episode were a waste of time. If they hadn't started from here, and actually started from the beginning of the manga, they wouldn't have needed to do the scene with Okonogi twice because the viewers would already know Yuuko was in the room (as though it wasn't already obvious).

Also, skipping to where Kirie is already tolerating Yuuko is a HUGE fucking mistake. Since they've already shown the viewers that that turns out alright, even if they go back later and do the whole situation where Kirie is first introduced, it won't have the same impact because we as the viewers are already like "Oh it's okay, they're fine later on."

I was seriously worried about the studio that was going to animate this because I wasn't sure they could get the atmosphere right. From the last half of the episode, I can see that they can do the atmosphere. What I'm worried about now is whether or not they can actually be faithful to the goddamn material.

Damn it all to hell.

Seems they already deviated from the start by making Kirie appear much earlier than she did in the source. Not a good sign. Their approach of showing the same scene first, without Yuuko visible, and later with Yuuko visible was unexpected, but I don't expect (and don't want) it again in the next episodes. At least, I have the pleasure of finally seeing Yuuko animated. And I liked how the atmosphere of the comical scenes in the manga was preserved.
