| Now, there are obvious differences in attitude (some, not all), and we most likely are not seeing all the characters in Ano Natsu, but this is what I have so far. | Huh... Looks like you forgot to mention the anime you're comparing it to is Onegai Teacher. Damn, what creative anime producers we have. |
| Oh yeah. Onegai Teacher. Also, I wasn't saying that it was BAD that they were using similar characters, but was secretly hoping it was another anime in the same "universe" as the Onegai stuff. Cause I liked both. I am assuming not at this point, but will be on the lookout for Mizuho or Kei cameos. |

| The first episode seems to suggest the story is almost exactly the same as Onegai Teacher. I agree this isn't a bad thing, but i was pretty surprised at how close it was. The characters look somewhat similar, but then that tends to be common in anime. I noticed more how the story seemed to be the same with a few minor differences. |
| That's why I can't keep shaking away the feeling that this is a remake of Onegai Teacher. I watched it because the girl looks like Mitsuho sensei and then bam, it was really designed by the same artist. At least the story's a bit more comfortable to watch compared to a student-teacher romance story. |

It is Masayoshi Tanaka. He did the character design for Ano Hana, Ano Natsu, Toradora, High School of the Dead. His style is hard to miss. |

| I started watching Onegai Teacher cuz someone suggested it in the reviews. He/she said they were SIMILAR. But I can't think of ano natsu otherway that to a completely better remake of onegai. SHoouldn't this be illegal ? :X The only difference i see so far is that in Onegai the alien girl is a teacher not a student. But still older. Not to mention looking exactly the same. And as of Lemon goes... what can I say ? It's as the same character takes part in 2 similar events. I can't think of them as different characters. >.> But I can totally understand. If it happened to watch Onegai first, I would have probably thought it needed a lot of improvements. And all those improvements can be seen in Ano Natsu. I eman pobably a lot of people would be first thing demoivated by the student-teacher coupling thing in Onegai. It doesn't sound like serious stuff. While Ano Natsu eliminates this "inconvenience" by making the alien a student and deepening the tension between the relations among the main charactrs. Well... good stuff. I love Ano Natsu, Onegai couldn't make me care too much, but we'll see when season ends. |

Her fathers name was Shiro Kazami. He was an astronaut whos ship got damaged in space and was thought lost, but in reality they were saved by the people from Mizuho's home planet. Hatsuho was one of the rescuers, and thats how they met. Shiro was never allowed to return home, nor were any of the other explorers on that ship, because the Galactic Federation believed returning would reveal the existence of alien life, and they didn't feel Earth was up to that, at that point. I feel like this really is a sort of a remake, but I also don't hate that. I really enjoyed Please Teacher and Please Twins, so a remake suits me just fine. I'm glad that this series' Kei character doesn't have the standstills, though. His parents arent alive, but his sister is at least alive in this one, and he didn't see her commit suicide. |

| Well, I don't think they will ever go into explaining it within the series or not, but the only hint I have gotten so far, that actually was kind of amusing was when Remon was introduced. Ichika asked about her uniform, and why it was different from all the rest, and Remon replied with something about it being top secret. |
| No last episode yet, but with all the information here, I have a strong belief it is at least the same "universe" if not the same time line. Indeed, the missing data may be the location of the last "visitor" Mizuho. Ichika is at LEAST from the same race of people, if not related distantly. Hope this doesn't turn into a Tenchi family tree, cause DAMN that is complex. Anyone else catch the conversation Lemon has with Kaito about not stopping? O.O; |

| All of the people that think Ano Natsu is "Just the same" as Onegai Teacher must not look at things beyond the superficial similarity level. Sure, it has a similar basic set-up, uses many of the same tropes, and has some similarity in the characters, but the mood and themes explored in the two are completely different. In my opinion, Ano Natsu is the superior story, with a much tighter plot, no stupid unexplainable illness (a plot contrivance that nearly ruined OT for me), and lacking the ikky factor of the teacher-student relationships. (Yes, relationships, since it is strongly implied that the hypotenuse in OT ends up with the teacher that made the human powered plane and the school principal is married to a former student that is many years younger than him.) It isn't surprising that the same writer created a better product several years later. Most people get better at what they do with practice. |
