God I wish this show had went the route where Ko and the girl was actually dating. Then I won't have to suffer through this melodramatic bullshit. Everybody is saying megane girl is a bitch. Why do they say that? Because all they've been exposed to is Ohana's annoying ass impulsive dicking around. Peopla re saying 'ooohhh she doesn't know what they've beeeenn through togeetthherr waaaahhh waaahhhhh'. She doesn't need to fucking know. All she needs to know is Ohana fucked around for months without giving an answer while Ko is stupid enough to live a life of celibacy waiting for this dense thickheaded moron.

Ohana's been away for five or so months. Suurrreeee Ko's confession caught her off guard but what the fuck did you expect? A 2 week notice saying that he'll confess to you soon? Oh please. Ohana, regardless of intention, dicked around for months with absolutely no resolution to this. She came close several times and what does she do? She fucks it up and changes the message she was going to send. She INTERACTS with the guy and STILL avoids it. That is some straight A+ fuck up she's committing.

Hell, I'd fucking bitchslap Ko too. He waited five months for what? Only for her to come back to town and then leave again without solving anything. Meanwhile, there's already another girl who's ready to hop on his dick but he's like 'nah dawg, I got another bitch lined up even though she's taking a mighty long ass time to respond to my confession.'

God damn these last two episodes just make me facedesk at this character that is Ohana. She's pretty damn lucky the writer of the article was her mom. Her stupid impulsiveness could've put Kissui Inn in an even worse spot than it's already in. And trying to force her mom back to the inn? Who the fuck does she think she is? What if her mom had her own reasons for not wanting to go? But of course, this being the ridiculous feel good anime that it is, everything works out picture perfectly fine in the end. Coincidences be damned.

Oh you, :/ I would agree with this except that Kou does not give a fuck about sex. Simple as that. At least I did not see him being perverted around, only being shy.

There is nothing wrong confessing to a person you've been friends with for a long time. He should not be hated for such a thing. The confession might be "unfair" to Ohana in the sense that his actions meant that their relationship would probably change. This "unfairness" does not allow her to hold off on a reply his entitled to for such a long period. Should his "goodbye" really mean goodbye, he should not be at fault when he has waited half a year for a reply he is entitled to get.

I have to stop you there. What makes you think he's entitled to that response? It's completely selfish. I've explained this already, so it's your turn.

Tsuki-Hime said:

Most of things you assumed are wrong about Kou. the reason he confessed suddenly was because of desperation. he wanted to stop her. he didn't knew how to do it. watch episode 1 again. Ohana was not in trouble at all. she was very happy to go to inn "a dramatic and fun place for her". Kou was pretty disappointed with her reaction. he said, "i was mistaken. i thought you will realize my feelings if i stay by your side always but i was wrong" and when he saw there is no way to stop her, he said "just go".

Yeah, you're right actually. I'd forgotten about that. I don't even need to go back and rewatch it.

Guys seriously WTF? Fest up is a amazing new expression like in Cheerio was used in Katanagatari.

Anyway festing it up means stirring up a festival or so to say chaotic turmoil in a party/amusing way. Fest itself comes from festival. It must be a Ohana invented expression that tons of kids in school do to. In fact I even used to think of some.

Yeah I missed it, what was the gag behind it in regards towards Kou. I doubt he will change much seeing how his character revolves so far except perhaps in the comprehension speech way but man the guy needs to like clean his ears. He totally did not understand Ohana on that part where he talks with her over a cell phone line.

Crii is right Tohru was shocked to see Ohana had disappeared not at the sight of Minko, that's why he had left to room to search for Ohana and not stayed to continue to stare at Minko. Seriously I'm not sure how you managed to misinterpret that scene.

As for the episode itself, I thought it was anti-climatic OhanaxKou relationship is over with no chance of success and it ended with a whimper instead of a dramatic bang.

Even if Ohana was out of the picture there is no reason to assume Ko would even be interested in Namiko. Judging by Ohana she's not anywhere close to his type.
Ko made it clear that he's willing to wait for however long it takes. And whether that's 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months, or 5 years doesn't really matter when it's true love.

Oh silly you! That must be because I am a Minko x Tooru shipper so I must have gotten clouded. OK so he was dozing off on the chair and upon waking up was just surprised to see Ohana gone. I think I got it.

No one is ever entitled to anything. He made a leap of faith, what happens after that is not up to him. And if Ohana just wants to ignore it till the end of time then that is her prerogative.

You're right, she isn't entitled to reply to him, much like how you don't have to say "please" or "thank you" when asking or recieving. Doesn't stop people from thinking your a jerk. When its something as big as a confession it's expected you give a reply. Call it common courtesy if you will. If you were to summon your guts out to confess to someone you've liked all this time only to never hear a reply because she isn't entitled to tell you, no matter how hopeless your chances you would feel pretty devestated. But yes, Ohana could just never give a reply

Doki actually subbing it while others are using Crunchyroll. (except Shin-gx i think) using commercial subs is not fansubbing. while i don't care if its fansubs or crunchysubs but i think you haven't noticed crunchyroll mistakes in hanasaku iroha. i can point out few but i need to go through episodes to get them.

I don't really care if it's fansubbed or a CR rip. As long as it's accurate.
And CR has people from Eclipse fansubs, and they were always great, so I trust that they have accurate subs, even if the typsetting is horrible and they don't do signs or karaoke.

I don't trust SHiN-gx or Doki though, not with translations like those.
Look at the title screen for episode 1.
Everyone starts out pretty much the same: "Spring, 16, still a bud." or some variation of that.
But then:
CR: "Made by Ohana"
SHiN: "Ohana cooks"
Doki: "No, Ohana is."

The scene on the playground:
CR: "Moonlight flit"
Doki: "Skipping town"
The word used is Yonige, which literally means moonlight flit.

Train scene:
CR: "But after seeing a different side of Ko..."
Doki: "But, looking at Kou-chan's different face..."

They are clearly not accurate. I'm not saying CR are perfect, they miss things here and there as well, but overall they hold a much higher standard.

And what if Ohana doesn't have an answer?
I've sometimes gone years without understanding why I do something I do. I think really long and hard about it, but I never manage to understand the reasoning behind my actions.
It's quite possible that Ohana doesn't know how she feels. Should she then lie and give him an answer?

everyone have different opinion. i think doki is doing best job for this show in terms of literal translation.. i watched few episodes of another show from Shin-gx and didn't liked, so i haven't checked shingx hanasaku releases... as i posted CR screenshot above and that's not what ohana said. i can find quite a few lines like that where crunchyroll used their own translation. while they are not completely out of context but it feels weird. like i'm watching english dub, where its necessary to change wholes line because of lip movements. i like literal translation's what they are saying in actual japanese. (unless it doesn't make any sense, so translator need to use different words) i'm not saying doki translations are 100% correct. everyone do mistakes, still i found them better. its just a matter of preference. don't want to be nitpick, i just randomly googled and that what i find for yonige at top. though i'm not sure how much accurate it is.

Her conversation with Tooru begs to differ.
If some girl I don't know asks me personal things about a boy, whether I'm interested or not, I'm not going to just volunteer information, I don't care if she has a personal investment in it, that infromation is mine, and mine alone.

Say for arguments sake that Ohana does love Ko. Is the first person she's telling going to be that girl? I think not.

She doesn't need to lie. She can simply tell the truth. She can tell him she doesn't understand her own feelings and needs time to think about it. But she didn't do that. She completely skirted around the confession. Yes, it's her decision if she wants to answer or not, but it's still a shit move to just leave him hanging like that.

QFT. It is sort of annoying because Ohana is awesome in every respect except for her relationship with ko. I think it would have been good to have brought him along as a make up gift, since well, we have barely seen any screen time with him and we won't until we head back into Tokyo again.

Torou seems to fit more with her mom than with Ohana. Satsuki x Tarou seems good although it has more possibility as an one night stand.

Poor Minko i feel sorry for her. The guy doesn't see her as a girl at all.

Why do people say the Bookstore girl is a bitch ? I don't get it. From my Point of view she's way better than Ohana who's running away since the beginning. That glasses girl know what she wants and she's not using any dirty trick to have Ko. She was absolutely right. Ohana is the bitch right now for putting Ko on hold and kind of playing with his feeling without even knowing it.

People hate her because many people are for facepalm and not to mention than the young age and spoiled life many of Mal people have makes them even more incapable of a even the slightness analyzing thinking other then the surface of the direct view thrown at them which is threw the eyes of Ohana, so they immediately only care about her.

This was one of the best episodes in this series since the first one.

I'm kind of disappointed that we probably won't be able to see that much more of Ko now. I don't remember her name, but that girl with a crush on Ko proved to be one of the best characters in the series with what she said to Ohana. I still don't really like her, and she never really considered the situation from Ohana's side of things, but I really admired the way she clearly displayed her feelings though.

Feel bad for Minko though. Her "date" was just kinda eh.

My brother's dating someone 7 years younger than him (27-20) so I don't find it weird.. though I guess Ohana isn't quite legal yet. Even so, if both parties are consenting, it's cool with me.

Minchi really needs to learn to stand up for herself, especially since they weren't in a work environment in this ep. Making yourself throw up just to eat more is insanely bad, and what's more, I doubt she would have done it if anyone other than Tohru asked her to.

Everyone in this series is so unrealistic, but I still find myself enjoying it.

27-20 is VERY different to 23-16. My sister's 16, she's fairly mature for her age, and she's dating a 19 year old. That's only a three year difference but when they first started going out she was 15 and he was 18 and it seemed huge. I had trouble accepting it for a couple of months. :/ So to me a 16 year old with a 23 year old is a little...off. (I still ship TohruxMinchi though, haha. -shot- Pretty sure it's never going to happen and Tohru is an ass, I think I mostly just ship it because I feel bad for Minchi...)

Anyway...why do people keep claiming "everyone" is calling Meganekko a bitch when I've seen about three people that don't like her in this thread and everyone else defending her and bitching about Ohana?
I don't like glasses girl, btw. I instantly disliked her because of the way she clung to Kou's arm last episode even though we later found out he flat out rejected her...that's just weird imo. I didn't like her this episode because of the way she treated Ohana, for one thing-as far as I'm concerned, you do NOT speak like that to someone you don't even know (it can't be excused as straightforwardness, it's just plain rudeness :|) and second-in my eyes she was just doing that stupid thing teenage girls tend to do where they assume the girl their crush likes is evil, and I know the very little information she had about Ohana was that she'd left Kou hanging but that does not excuse having an attitude towards her like she's just drowned your kitten.
(I hope that made sense, I know it was kind of rage-y. XD)

As far as I'm concerned it's pretty obvious Ohana likes Kou but hasn't realised it yet...so I still have a lot of hope for them. OhanaxTohru is not happening. She might have gone from hating him to not disliking him but she's never going to feel any more for him than that, and even if Minchi got over him that doesn't mean Ohana's going to instantly develop feelings for him :/

Wow felt sorry for Minchi for once.

I agree with this totally. It looked she forced on Kou to show Ohana that he is hers while it's not the case but all amounts to a form of deceive. "See that I am close to Kou so fuck off Ohana" kind of thinking leads nowhere but I know it was somewhat of a intent.

Amen to that, I also though she was rude and you just proved I had a right in it. It's exactly like you say, too much exaggeration not enough substance.

No it did make sense to me when I filled in somethings. In general you are the closest to the way I though about what you wrote. Nice ones.

Anyway... a 23 years old dude with a 16 years old girl seems weird to me anyway. That's... 7 years between them still.
My brother's dating someone 7 years younger than him (27-20) so I don't find it weird.. though I guess Ohana isn't quite legal yet. Even so, if both parties are consenting, it's cool with me.
Don't you know the "half your age plus seven" rule? it's actually a decent standard for the youngest person you can date without it being squicky.
Your brother is within the limit (barely), but 23 on 16 isn't.

To be fair that rule is just something some guy somewhere made up.
There's no basis for application in reality.

What? Did you expect it to be a revelation from God or something?

Anyway, say what you want, but it makes sense to me, at least as a general approximation for what's "socially acceptable." Of course this stuff is completely subjective, but that's always the case in these matters.

Wow. Ohana's mom is compassionate about her child. This is really cute and unexpected of her.

I don't approve of Ohana's mom and Tooru. That's just...no. As for Ko, I'm kind of starting to feel sorry for him. He really does like Ohana, but I think it'd be better for him to end up with the other chick. As for Minchi, I was actually glad it wasn't actually a date, since I ship Ohana and Tooru. Although I wouldn't be totally against it if by the end its Ohana and Ko, but I really do hope its Ohana and Tooru. Tooru was fun to watch this episode...

I'm starting to open up to Minko now. At least she's making progress to being a likeable person.
