| At first I just figured that Mokona was genderless since CLAMP has made characters like that before (Ashura-ou from RG Veda). But I've noticed when reading translated version of the Tsubasa online; the white Mokona has refered itself to a she. | Well maybe Mokona really is a 'She' (: I dont know if it is a translation error or what but I haven't really noticed what gender Mokona was before you made this topic. I have always thought it was a 'he' or a 'it' ;p |

| I know the question is cleared up, but I also want to state one extra info. In Shiritsu Horitsuba Gakuen (Private Horitsuba Academy, a series of radio show that mixes xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa characters), White Mokona is a she and Black Mokona is a he. |

God Mokona jumps from dimension to dimension, creating the new ones and looking over the old. Yuuko and Clow met God Mokona during their travels through dimensions. God Mokona was "inspiration" for the designs of Soel And Larg. God Mokona has unlimited potential of existance and is a few times bigger than his magic-robot-copies. It has no gender. Has the power to create dimensions. Soel, the white mokona, is female. She symbolizes White, Good, Yin, more feminine side of Everything and has ability to be an universal translator and to travel through the worlds(as an extension to Yuuko's magic powers) . She was created for Syaoran(or Sakura, I do not remember right now) Larg is the black mokona. Larg is male. He symbolizes Black, Bad, Yang, more masculine side of Everything. Larg has ability to see ghosts as well as to "seal" something or someone. He was created for Watanuki. Soel and Larg is eternal pair, missing each other when separated and being able to feel each other's presence. They also can communicate with each other, wherever they are. | I just wanted to add that in the volume 11 of TRC, chap 77, Nokoru ask directly Mokona if Mokona is a male or a female, but the little one simply respond: "Mokona is Mokona" Giving no real answer on what is gender really is. Just to add a little something on the discussion ! ^^ |

| Just too add a little more. I think Larg (black mokona) sais "she was crying a lot" when refering to Soel(white mokona) when they call Yuuko from tokyo town.. and of course mokona is mokona No less no more X3 |

| i think that the translation must be wrong! because in xxx holic (Yuuko ) called black mokona a girl and in tsubasa chronicle Syaoran called white mokona a boy(he) read this: and listen to jap pronounce if white one said (watashi) then it's a female and if it said( ore ) it's a male. :D the simplest way! lol |

| Hmm, interesting topic! I don't think you can really tell their genders from their personalities, unless they are supposed to be like yin and yang (which wouldn't surprise me coming from CLAMP), since there are tomboys and girly guys. Everyone's made good points; personally I never really thought about it. XD Mokona is Mokona. It's also possible that their genders depend on the story? Are Soel and Larg from the novel and the one's from Horitsuba Gakuen the same as the one's from TRC and xxxHolic? It could be that in TRC and xxxHolic they are genderless, while in Horitsuba and/or the novel they have genders. On a side note, does anyone know where I can find the Soel to Larg novel? I can never find it at my bookstore, even though it's listed online. D: I really wanna read it! |

| More than anything Mokona is genderless. There are a lot of characters like that in anime. However, if I were to assign a gender to Mokona I would guess that it is a boy. |
