What's something people flex that you do not consider as impressive as they think it is?

Mansions, clothes from well-known brands, and expensive cars have never wowed me. Also had a cousin basically tell me she was a centrist and it's not the superior position that she was framing it as.

It's all low-level materialist metaphysical abstractions that don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
In a few years humanity will all form a symbiotic connection to artificial intelligence and life as you know it will be only an idea.

Girlfriends/Boyfriends, especially if it's an online-only one, and I personally wouldn't even call one that if you've never ever met IRL, but some do.

I frequently see people showing off their close-minded viewpoints, not impressive at all.
No, this isn't my signature.

Spending money on a lot of expensive stuff, like op said. Wasting money on overpriced stuff doesn't make you look cool, it makes you look financially irresponsible.

1. Capitalism, also the current global economic model (for the past 50-60 years); this abominable model must die already along with its beneficiaries.
2. Stupid and useless "businesses" must also cease to exist, such as restaurants, big shopping centers, nightclubs, 99% of all social media, TV media, etc.
3. everything—AI-based, pointless invention, financed by corrupted fuckfaces (will eventually die out).
4. Electric cars, and green freaks in general.
5. NATO and its supporters: this entire shithole must sink; the sooner the better.

being conscripts. I don't know but every older guy here is insufferable.

"Let me tell you about that one time I was in some wanker army bootcamp in 1997 for 6 months that gave me the illusion that I'm an actual man and not a little b*tch who's spent his entire life living with his mom."

My f-ing life is a bootcamp, dude. It's the battle you never actually went to. You never had to pay rent in your life and you are afraid of airports. Stop larping as if you're some war veteran.

One's sexual history, or lack thereof, is no indication of their character. Therefore I think it makes no sense to flex for either "I've gotten laid countless times" or "I've remained pure"
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

Expensive cars is a big one- in my city I see EVERY kind of $$$ car; Rivians, Cybertrucks, several Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Maseratis, Lucid Sapphires (I think this one is cool actually), and of course (because it's "the South") massive bro-dozer pickup trucks that list above $100K.... and none of these vehicles really make an impression in traffic.
And every one of them is driven by some broke-ass homey. Well apart from the two or three Rivians, those are driven by arrogant office directors who think they're Top Alpha.

The other is eating at fancy restaurants. I took my parents to a steakhouse as a gift earlier this year; was surprised at the price tag (LESS THAN $500... I thought it was massively overpriced) and expected the place to be full of executives, CEOs, businessmen and businesswomen plotting hostile takeovers and seaside land purchases, but nope.....
I have never seen more Hugo Boss pants and FILA sneakers in my life. Nobody was wearing ties except my dad, and EVERYONE was younger than us- it looked like the Fridaynight club crowd, and knowing what the meals cost there, I see why so many people are "broke" these days. Wasting $500 or more on dinners to show off to their equally broke friends. So dumb.

@JaniSIr Tankies just being tankies.

Also to respond to the thread, people who brag about their academic qualifications. You should want to learn for the sake of it, not because you can posture over another. People who engage in this behavior are usually always pseudo-intellectuals in some form or another.

Acting like complete jerks to others in the most intentional way. I'm not a huge fan of the South Korean iljin culture at schools based on how they interact and the possibility that those students will terrorize adults.

@149597871 We don't have conscription but I agree that I find people who brag about military service insufferable. They have this superiority complex where they all think they're better than civilians and some have openly bragged about committing war crimes in Iraq/Afghanistan on their podcasts they go on.

Consumerist or status shit i don't care about.

Having multiple houses: my family owns real estate and i spend most of the time in one house.

Driving expensive cars: a cousin owns a Lamborghini, your ass is 30cm from the road and this beast has way too much horsepower to be wasted in traffic.

Having lots of money: i never understood that. Some of my family owns multinational companies and still work like dogs while i am watching anime.

Acquiring "recognition": i know a shipload of politicians because of my former job and they are all miserable little shits.I have seen unemployed people being happier.

Getting a lot of women: even the smelliest & ugliest mongrel of my generation had that so no reason to brag.

Military service : It is compulsory here so we all are former soldiers.

Being a scholar : Good lord your 3 PhDs mean that you know 3 subjects or less very good, do not engage in conversation with me over topics you don't know shit about

Flex showing off : compensation

  1. Being a polyglot/knowing multiple foreign languages. Not bad, but not very useful in real life, unless you're working for a foreign company or doing diplomacy. English is usually enough, and nowadays you don't really learn – there's so much interesting content out there that you kinda start picking things up as you go.
  2. Hating on Windows. I've been a Mac user for 5 years, and I actually have zero regrets switching back. Not that macOS was bad or anything...
  3. Hating on the design of iPhones. Like, they look ok – like any other phone. What's wrong with you?
  4. The simplification/gamification of science. As in, "this guy/this AI prompt will explain any difficult concept step by step in simple terms". Science (any) is hard in its core and cannot be simplified. If you don't get it – think hard until you start getting it or try something else. There's no room for this pseudo-intellectual bullshit.

University degrees. Everyone and their dog has one, and the most ignorant people (intellectually as well as in other ways) I've ever met all had university degrees in legitimate courses (there were a handful of exceptions). I've come to operate on the "we'll talk and then we'll see" principle. Academia in the West relies on most people with degrees not being smart, as it is easier to sway the status quo this way. Silly business, really.

The number of anime shows one has watched. It's the tell-tale sign that one lacks actual accomplishments in life because anyone who watched 1000 shows undoubtedly watched a disproportionate amount of trash and thinks that number is more important than what impact any single show had on a person. Some of the most interesting anime fans I know don't watch that many shows, but are really dedicated to specific ones by making fan art, cosplay, music covers, or being able to talk about it in great detail that reveals small elements others may have missed.

I despise whoever comes talking about their largely ''successful'' life with cryptos, sometimes I consider punching these people in the mouth so they can't talk anymore.

@RudeRedis Polyglots usually just learned to say hello in many languages, and make a youtube career targeting people who don't speak a single language properly.

@MelodyOfMemory Watching a 1000 shows is something I consider literally impossible, because I didn't even make it halfway and there is nothing left to watch.

@JaniSIr, true, but those guys are just posers. That being said, even if one isn't a poser, knowing multiple languages still isn't very useful, unless the circumstances require.

@RudeRedis Basically why I don't speak more than 2... We need to learn 2 foreign languages, and the second one was utterly useless.

@GinInYourJuice Truly, awful people. I'll tell them.

OT: Dick size. They flex, but they don't know.
