I thought at first they were going to make light of Pollyanna being hit by the car. Very moving when she heard she wouldn't be able to walk again.

What kind of fracture is this which she didn't feel any pain and managed to run for a short time? This series is lacking some realism. Even so, it's tragic to see all of this happening to Pollyanna and everyone close to her. Will Dr. Chilton be the miraculous savior?

When you are in shock you can release dormant strength and won't notice even major injuries.
You just keep going until the production of adrenaline starts to slow down again.

I guess the most likely cause for her apparent paralysis would be a spinal cord compression caused by a shifted vertebra or spinal disc. And maybe her running around caused either or both to move around in the wrong direction and applied pressure on the spinal marrow.
But that she suffers something like that without any other major external injuries? After being hit by a car?
Yeah, that sounds a bit fishy.

And why do they always pull the "high fever" card in anime? Standing in rain for a few minutes? Fever. Being hit by a car? For whatever reasons, fever. And being unconscious for days because of it? Oh, come on.
That got more and more ridiculous the further we got into the episode.

The one thing that really annoys me is the driver of the car. Broad daylight, in the middle of the town, he hits a child with his car. There is nobody around, nobody sees it or helps. The accident perpetrator gives her a handkerchief, scolds her for "crossing the road without looking", although it was clearly him who didn't see her, and then flees the scene without bringing the girl to a doctor.

At this point I wish there would be some form of police that throws him straight into jail. That is the most unrealistic thing in this episode. And in the whole show in general.
That almost all adults more or less act like children.

She overhears the Doctor saying she may not walk again.
