| Title is quite misleading IMO. I thought you were referring to the original ToS. Here's my ranking. ToS > Abyss > ToS: Dawn of the New World In my opinion, Abyss and Tos: DotNW have one thing in common. They both have whiney leads. Tear is a little better than Marta though. But Emil and Marta have some nice lovey-dovey scenes. Gameplay wise - ToS: DotNW has monsters and a gimped-old cast. Personally, I didn't think that the monsters were a replacement for characters. They didn't have the personality, the loads of artes, and they just weren't as useful in battle (although they were strong, if no humans were left you essentially lose). The old-cast has level restrictions, can't equip items, can't put the old-cast in the first slot (which adds even more problems). The AI seems a little worse than ToS and the old-cast seem slower overall. I have more complaints but I won't list them. That's not say the game isn't fun, but compared to Abyss and Symphonia, it just doesn't compare. I will give props to the air combat and Decus is my favorite villain (his MA is awesome). Abyss overall is great, the battle system is fun and the characters do grow a lot throughout the story. Speaking of story, the story isn't that bad, and Jade is an awesome character. The problem is that the other good characters were either a bit annoying or were neutral (weren't bad or good). The bad/evil characters were very well developed. The one thing I loved about Abyss was the costumes! They are very well done, much cooler than ToS (and of course DotNW didn't have any costumes...) When I look at ToS, I try to take into consideration it was one of the first 3D Tales games [at least on a console]. Thus I try to leave the fact there's no free-run or the graphics aren't as up-to-par aside. That being said, Symphonia has some issues. While I personally enjoy the cast, I do think the cast didn't develop as well as it could. Introducing the characters in a long fashion (as opposed to Abyss who introduced them all at once) really gives some characters plenty of time to grow and others not so much. I really didn't mind the storyline of the game, but I do realize it isn't the best. Lastly, I'm annoyed with a lot of the incomplete parts in the GC version of the game... But there were quite a few things that stood out for me. The unison attack system is awesome, there are so many combinations I can use. I also loved the affection system. It really adds replay value to the game. One minor detail is the fact that there's two accessory slots, this really gives me a lot of possibilities on how to outfit my characters (two black onyx~). The fact you could have a Tales character be either T or S also helped give the game more replay value. Lastly, I think it was cool that some of the on-screen characters did different things. Like Zelos flirting with the ladies :D Other than that, for the most part, the game plays like any other good Tales game! |

| imo Tales of Legendia Tales of Vesperia Tales of Symphony Tales of the Abyss Tales of Rebirth Tales of Destiny II Tales of Phantasia Tales of Destiny Tales of Eternia Tales of Innocence I haven't played ToS II yet so I can't really tell you where that would go, but it looks like it would be under destiny II for me. |

In Tales of Abyss I only liked three of the people in my party, and everybody else I liked died. Yeah sucks for me -.-' Storywise, their both equal. Tales of Abyss was just really annoying, and Tales of Symphonia was unoriginal, it felt like playing FFX twice over but with kids. So, Tales of Symphonia > Tales of Abyss. But Vesperia pwns ALL! I mean, it's the first game where I actually liked ALL the characters, and the battle system is just so much more fleshed out than Symphonia and Abyss. I could go on forever but then I'd be going off topic. |

| Tales of the Abyss made me very angry, the main character is a stuck up, whiny, rich kid, crybaby. Playing it was worse than watching Naruto. Tales of Symphonia 2, on the other hand, looks very good, also i played through the first one and had lots of fun. With ToS2 i bet you'll be better off, there will no extreme, or excessive swearing at the TV screen, like what would happen with ToA. Although ToS is a ripoff of FFX in someways, it's still 1000x better than ToA. |

| Tales of Symphonia was fun........but scarcely voiced compared to Abyss, but in the original japanese version the skits in Abyss were voiced........while in the localized version they aren't. Overall: Abyss |
| Symphonia all the way. Definitely one of my favorite games for GC. Not the best RPG overall, but it was a fun way to spend a summer. |
