I believe that Athrun is still with Cagalli after special edition 4, not only because he is still wearing the orb uniform, but because did you notice cagalli only put the ring in her drawer? i believe she still loves him and vise versa, also this video i have to share, was made from the director from an interview and said the appologies about not exactly pointing about what happened with them 2, but even said themself, that Athrun goes back to Orb with cagalli, he's still wearing the uniform at the end.
