So I decided to read Houseki no Kuni, because I randomly noticed it finished...

The pictures are black and white.
The manga panels are small, especially on phones.
And motion in general is really hard to portray on still images.

Maybe I just need a much bigger screen, but I like manhwas that are designed for phones, and not print.

You can zoom. I only have trouble understanding battle scenes.

@Lucifrost I hate needing to zoom. It makes the whole reading experience annoying.

This is my personal experience, but I got used to Houseki no Kuni around chapter 20. It's definitely the harder manga to follow because sometimes I don't even know what I'm looking at... and the gems, and there's no colors lol.

@JustMaya The lack of colors in this manga is especially jarring. Although I've been told that Claymore is even worse, the characters looked the same even in the anime.

@JaniSIr Yeah, it's hard to keep track cuz the gems look almost the same, just shades of black and white lol. But the main characters are easy enough to follow, and personally, I enjoyed the heavy action scenes in the manga.

And damn, Claymore is on my plan to read list...

@JustMaya Let's play spot the main character.
Here's a frame from the anime:

The main character is the speaker drawing everyone's attention. Obviously...

@JustMaya I picked the same, so I think there's at least a 65% chance we got it correctly.
@Lucifrost no. I actually kinda vaguely remember what's happening here, so you are definitely wrong.

It is difficult for some mangas to figure out what happens yeah, although fortunately it's not the case for most of them I think :)

Of course. Some artists don't properly display what the hell is happening.
Or, I gotta think through it to imagine the intent and carefully see how it's supposed to look like.
