"Apart from the stiff animation and janky visuals". Bro it's a sports anime, thats literally the one thing it needs to do right.

Oh right, the plot and the topics they deal with can suck ass, because it's a sports anime. xD

Not at all, any simpleton would realise that in order to be great a show needs to excell in all areas. However, given that it's a sports anime, it cannot afford to be lacking in, well, the sport. A football show with beautiful animation but flat characters would be far far greater than a show with bad animation and good characters. That being said, this show hasn't even shown any good characters yet.

Sports shows typically explore the personalities and motivations of the characters through the sport—that tends to be why they are what they are, and not just slice of life. When the animation, and thus the game itself, is flat and unexpressive, how can you expect the characters to express themselves? It isn't rocket science. Animation is the one thing a sports show cannot do without, and it doesn't have to be Your Name level animation either.

That was rough. Playing against the strongest team was a little hopeless situation.

I like Nomi alraedy. She's determined to coach these girls to success.

"Does girls soccer have a future?" I hope so.

Idk before that these show can be this funny, ngl, beside the visual ofc.

Lol, man, Onda chilling out act really funny, its made the new coach already mad. Nice teaching there, legend coach! That was surely give a good impact to the girls! Onda slacking off part really amusing. She really made a fun of it. The coach really had no idea whats her deal in the first place, with that kind of shit type training, ofc. Gladly, the coach was not too evil afterall.

The practice match soon began, typical. Its good to showed the girls skills. Sou-So combination started the game nicely. Too bad, the enemy team just too perfect with their game, crushed Sou completely, and led the battle without mercy. Its looks like Onda slacking off act had an impact to the team play. Ofc they cliffhanged it to make the things will be epic next time. Can't wait to see Onda showed her potential and surprise the enemy. Or no? Lets see!

Oof this is bad, the animation is so bad, and the characters so either tropey (how can I take the ojousama seriously?) or inconsistent.

Last episode I wrote that they managed to depict the playing pretty well, this episode was the complete opposite. I guess anime is made by people that usually don't have any affinity for sports, but seeing football depicted in that way (people just standing around passing the ball) is so incredible bad...
A sport where everything and everyone is in motion at basically all times, depicted in a way not even seniors would play really hurts.
The way they depict the main character doesn't help as well, she is just watching, not even part of the match, why would any coach leave such a person on the field? This would be a very short season if we follow the main character and use real world logic. After such a display in the first half she would just get subbed out and that is that.

THIS!! As a player, I am finding this realllly hard to watch. Women's soccer is already snubbed and this show is not helping LOL I saw a post on another thread saying that this is just how women play soccer .... hoping the gameplay gets better as the team gets better

A friendly match against a stronger team sure is a risky tactic. Coach Noumi wants to ignite a reaction in her players and a heavy defeat will most likely do that, although the possibility of destroying confidence and motivation is there too. Can't say for certain that many coaches, especially at that level would make a bizarre, score ten concede none stipulation, but hey, what do I know.

I'm not a big fan of the character designs, art and animation for this show. The biggest offender is the animation. It physically hurts to see them kick the ball without touching the damn thing. What's worse is that I notice it. I hope it gets better soon.

The new coach sure is a strict one. But it's good for the girls, better than their previous coach.
Our school got destroyed by the other team in the first half. Let's see if they can come back from that situation.

This episode brought more problems to the dynamism of the anime than it caused interest. The show isn't exactly bad in production, Lidenfilms manages to play at least a minimal role of decency.

But if it depends on the anime's ability to evolve by itself and develop its internal football problems and all that, I see it will appeal A LOT to the artificial sense of things.

The famous "in the end, we'll beat even the strongest", but it's not quite like that. I don't demand the greatest verisimilitude in the world, but at least it has a plausible coherence of events.

O famoso "no final, ganharemos até do mais forte", só que não é bem assim. Não exigo a maior verossimilhança do mundo, mas que pelo menos tenha uma coerência plausível de eventos.

WTF they're already sent to do a match against the world champion, without even training xDD of course they already got 7 - 0 during the first half, worse than brazil - Germany during world cup 2014 lol

Seeing Onda so excited makes me hope she gets to shine soon as she was basically useless so far in the first half of their match.
