| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- There's a lot of cool ideas here, but most of the time I was only half paying attention. There was a decently sized cast made up of one family, which I thought would be interesting going into it, but they weren't that fun to watch as a group. The poorly edited, machine translated subs didn't help, but that's not the fault of the anime. But that ending was just a huge middle finger to anyone who wasn't a main character or anyone lucky enough to be one of their love interests. It was almost malicious, watching random soldiers drowning at the scene as the Randos are saved and everyone else on Earth flees from ruin due to some kind of collective guilt (and then they're obliterated). I get the feeling that an ending with that attitude was somewhat common for this time period though. |
