This has to be one of the best things I've seen in a long time. Great character development, and once you've finished an episode, you immediately want to see another. So far, two seasons have come out, and a third season is slated for 2020. I highly recommend it to those who haven't seen it yet, providing you've already seen the first three "Karate Kid" films. Has anyone else seen this? If so, what's your opinion on it? |

I saw season one awhile ago. I watched it with my dad since he was always a big Karate Kid fan and I always used to watch the old movies with him. I liked it. It had good characters with nice motivations, decent message, was funny enough and of course nostalgic for us. Also, somehow the writing wasn't nearly as bad as the later Karate Kid films, particularly that fourth one that nobody likes. Overall I enjoyed it and thought that it was better than I would have expected from a youtube reboot of karate kid. I have yet to watch season two but I would like to see where the show goes. |

I've really enjoyed it, there's just something so fun about it. I actually think I liked the second season even better than the first too. Only complaint is the Karate is so laughably goofy and unrealistic, but I wonder if that's just because my MMA experience and if most people who watch the show actually find the fights to be cool lol. But I can take it in good fun as when the writing has the occasional goofy moment, although I actually think the writing is the show's biggest strong suit it's really quite well done. It's mind blowing that Cobra Kai was actually done well, normally a show like this would be absolutely awful given Hollywood's track record. |

without a specific reason, i never watched the films. However, after hearing two friendly people talking about it, i decided to watch it early this year with all 3 seasons uploaded on netflix and the result is... i've already seen it twice because of how enjoyable it is. I'm not gonna act as if it is perfect or something, because it's easy to ask where are the parents of the kids when they come back in poor health after the school and Golf'n'Stuff brawls etc. etc. , or why the Larussos never called the police after all those house violations how oblivious he looks about modern day technology but this created so many hilarious moments so i'm not gonna complain at all (hashbrown team Cobra Kai... i mean... wow... and this is coming from someone who asked to a co-worker in dicember 2017 "uhm... what exactly is an Instagram story?") I liked seasons 2 and 3 even more than the first one because Kreese hate him or not is a great villain and somehow still looked sympathetic himself during the Vietnam flashback and before, and Tory is my third favorite character after Johnny Lawrence and Demetri (a better version of me when i had his age, because at least he has the gift of sarcasm and i didn't). I'm gonna stop here because i would write for way too long, but i'm ending this congratulating the writers for how good they wrote the characters and telling the world is almost never entirely black or white and not caring about political correctness. Hard to choose a single favorite scene but the first i can think about is Cobra Kai crashing Miyagi Do performance at the summer festival. |

Honestly, I am not a big fan and a lot of that show feels very shallow to me. Much of the dialogue is unrealistic and not cheesy in a good way. I honestly just do not understand why the police are not called after certain events happen like when.. Hawk broke Demetri's arm, were there not Cameras in the laser tag place? Not to mention I can not bring myself to sympathize with Hawk or Tory, but that's my fault, not the shows. The same thing goes for Kreese. Also, I find most of the jokes to be cringy, some of the stuff with Johnny is just so unfunny to me. Finally, nobody in real life would think Hawk was actually "badass", and I hate how everyone actually thinks he is cool. |

Well it's good but the romance just leaves sour taste in my mouth especially in season w I was so excited to see some action they got all 16 year old kissaing with different partners. The end of S2 was little unbelievable like how someone makes a scene in a school and you can't even stop them . The character development of Toby from a deliquent to good boy was worthless. |

Binge watched season 4 in its opening day. Final minutes are hard to swallow, but Cobra Kai is once again so entertaining and satisfying that i can't blame myself for consuming it in just a few hours (even if it will be painful to wait probably for one more entire year before the fifth season. - didn't expect all the screentime for Anthony LaRusso, i thought he was actually pretty funny as comedic relief taken in small doses in the earlier seasons and now he has become someone very different... however, i thought it was the best choice to not make him join his father's dojo (and i'm fine if he never does) - was almost afraid to think that Terry Silver would have become a even more powerful bigger villain to a point that he actually stabbed someone like Kreese in the back, and somehow i turned out to be... right? - Devon, the new girl that joined Eagle Fang, is a very promising character as expected, but to be totally honest i hoped her to have more screentime and backstory, and maybe switching her and Kenny about the dojos they joined - Tory Nichols has always been in my top 3 favorite characters since her debut and her possible beginning to redemption arc of this season was almost perfect. Almost, because of what she discovers after the tournament - as written before the season finale is controversial for so many reasons, but i want to focus on its good moments and one of the most important was Robbie making peace (for how long?) with his father after thinking about his own story with Kenny - luckily, Johnny Lawrence is once again the best character and didn't stop having funny moments because he's still politically incorrect and technology dumb - i liked Demetri more when he was incompetent at fighting and still think it is unrealistic seeing someone like him in a relationship even for a tv series, but it's all just minor nitpicking - it was nice to see Aisha again even for just a cameo, Stingray, instead, no hate at all for the actor but if he didn't return i wouldn't have missed him - at some point after watching the final trailer i actually thought that even the senseis would have had a smaller tournament themselves at the All-Valley, but it didn't happen and i believe it's the best choice considering all the different plots already happening - thank you so much for not showing any more the worst character (the high school counselor) at least for this season - now i'm asking, if Kreese solves his problems, will he join forces with Daniel and Johnny against Terry Silver? Is it all that impossible at this point? |

just because i don't want to edit once again my post from before, i forgot to add that Daniel's wife has earned even more respect than before because after discovering of Tory's background and from Kreese of all people, she actually reaches out to her and helps on her path to redemption, despite everything she has done to her daughter, and still not sparing some dark but actually pretty funny quick shot as "thanks for visiting, at least this time you rang at the doorbell" |

How? the character check sucks Because it's stealing from Asian culture duuh How is it stealing from Asian culture? There's plenty of cultural references. I'm not sure if you're overlooking that or if it's just a matter of most of the characters being non-Asian. |

After watching 3 seasons of Cobra Kai I have to say I am damn impressed Interesting characters that are much more well-balanced than in the old movies. But it still has the Karate Kid feeling and carrying on its essence I thought I would dislike this. But I find it to be extremely enjoyable overall so far |

Cobra Kai is the only western series I am watching. It's the rare case of a sequel surpassing the original instead of just being a nostalgia cashgrab. Also it makes fun of woke culture so that's a plus for me |

Binge watched season 5 today, no regrets, if this tenth episode was the series finale it would have officially become my all time favorite tv show. Aware that a season 6 is going to be filmed and sort of concerned that it can't match the same level kept until now, but the writers have still gained so much of my trust and respect so at worst i'll probably still be very thankful for how the series has been so far so good, at best... still can imagine them outdo themselves once again. Except for season 3 early slow pacing for two very obvious plot points, it has never stopped being incredibly entertaining and satisfying. Even better... it still feels as it delivered a series finale and yet i don't feel as i'm in a unhealty wait for season 6 as i was afraid to go into. I wrote a lot of comments on computer and phone about every single episode while i was watching so i'll probably return to edit this post multiple times in the next days, not just for season 5 moments but for picking all my favorite or significative scenes since the beginning. Major spoilers under here, for everyone who hasn't seen season 5 specifically, avoid... - first and possibly only thing that i didn't enjoy was the absence of Anthony's "friends" (hopefully former, at this point) that deserved a cruel beating from Kenny even more than him, especially the curly ringleader. Seriously, Hawk making an example out of Brucks in season 3 is still is my second favorite moment in the entirety of Cobra Kai, a lot of former bullied people felt the same repressed anger of him and i'm absolutely one of them (even if i can't throw a punch and back in the day at least two of the worst bullies attended the actual local dojo of my little town). Also, not thrilled about Johnny and Carmen expecting a newborn - Miguel going to Mexico subplot ended quickly and even better without violent moments with his biological father, thank you. And "These guys are from FBI" "They have no power over here" in context was soooo funny - Tory immediately confronting Terry Silver for his bribing the referee at the AVT was good, even if as expected she didn't / couldn't leave immediately also 'cause he's overpowered into outsmarting everyone, even Chozen who tried to become a double agent sensei - hoped for more screentime of Mike Barnes, he appeared again only in the season finale, but still enjoyed that fact that he moved on from 1985 and tried to become a nice guy and businessman, until Larusso once again jumped into conclusions as usual in first four seasons and... - nice to see that Dieter and Edwin are still loyal to Cobra Kai since season 1 (and Big Red after 2) and a more sensitive side of pawn shop guy at his store or Chozen watching unexpected tv programs for someone like him - 1/5 average score for Uber Johnny was hilarious, and at the end of season 4 he didn't even know what an Uber is. Also, to hell with billie eilish, Billy Idol is the right choice to listen in the car - rest in peace Stingray's PS4, even if the owner still has something big to answer for, instead of being rewarded with Johnny's former car that didn't deserved to be abandoned on the beach since season 2. And from the same episode, yes, "goggle" is bad to solve conflicts, even if finally Miguel and Robbie stop hating each other - relieved that Silver beating Larusso wasn't the final major event from the series as i accidentally read it as a spoiler days ago, but it happened midway through and with the nice touch of the bloody knuckles from third movie training flashback with Silver happy to yell at young Daniel-san - Kim may be a villain but is such an attractive lady all around, and talking about female students, Devon joining Cobra Kai made more sense than expected from a lot of people and had badass scenes with Tory, even if surprisingly she never talked face to face with Johnny again after Eagle Fang. On the other hand... Miyagi Do still has Sam only, come on. That trailer scene made people question if it was Amanda or Moon bowing to the senseis at the garden, so it was the former even if she didn't join the dojo herself. Fine... i would have preferred Moon herself (or even Yasmine) but honestly, she would have probably stayed only to learn katas considering her peaceful attitude - Assface is such a funny joke character no one respects (funny how he loses for second at the egg chase scene only after Demetri and just before Bert and Nate), until... until... damn, that was cold on him. Not that his face-heel turn did last for too long. - the small tournament at Cobra Kai happened so much earlier than predicted and ended with a twist, but also with finally Tory admitting the real nature of her winning tournament - finally, Sam seems to get Tory's situation and slowly opens up (i've always been team Tory but never hated Sam and could easily understand her wanting payback in season 4) after visiting her small condo. In the same episode, i laughed at the senseis singing out loud in the limo before a very dark turn of events and at Stingray actually having people willing to play with him at D&D and then using the game to explain what happened to him at Miyagi Fang crew - season finale was so full of wins, when Terry Silver still seems unstoppable on every front everything changed. Cool to watch Binary Bros doing hacking work and Anthony actually being able to defend the uploading video tablet while surrounded by defending Miyagi Fangs, i was sure Kenny would have stolen it from his hands or something. Hopefully, Terry Silver will return, i honestly enjoyed watching him destroying LaRusso midway through the season. - thank you, Chozen and Kreese aren't dead. One is a great supporting character and the other a cool villain that made this entire series even more entertaining - ps... so the Red siblings are actually siblings? How did they handle the dojos war at home, did their parents ever made some risky questions, such as why only one pays for the tuition and the other never needed to? |

I love the show and love Johnny's character development. I couldn't stand him in the Karate Kid movies but now he is hands down my favorite character of the show. My second favorite would be Eli (Hawk) who also made the biggest change among the kids. I still couldn't find the time to watch the first episode of the 5th season but I will be doing that soonish. The constant relationship drama with Sam, Miguel, Tory and Robby is a bit annoying, tho I really appreciate almost all Karate Kid movie actors made a comeback in the show. |

Season 6 Part 1... i'll be honest, i thought about resisting the temptation and wait until the release of episodes 6-10 in mid november, but realized it would have been impossible to avoid all kind of spoilers between accidental clicks on youtube homepage and similar things, so... bingewatched one week ago during a train trip to Riminicomix, but stopped midway through episode 5 because things were becoming too depressing and ugly even if i'm aware that every episode 5 from seasons before had a major plot turning twist and i trust the creators of the show because of how amazing it has always been since the beginning. Spoilers... - didn't enjoy Johnny completely joining Miyagi-Do even if it's understandable plot wise, it was way too obvious in hindsight Kreese wouldn't have been the only sending the anonymous text about a Coyote Creek meeting, it was Stingray of all people, and his speech backfired hard. Just adding a eagle in the new Miyagi-Do logo isn't enough for me, and larusso is always the usual unlikable know-it-all with a superiority complex, i laughed at his face when Demetri and Hawk "presented" that discarded Miyagi-Fang vampiresque logo even if it was cringey and obviously impossible to choose seriously. - Kreese being easily able to travel between countries while on the run from the law requires a heavy suspension of disbelief - Hawk new hairstyle is... laughable, sorry. - lost all respect for Devon, no real need to explain the reason. - writing this with a grain of salt considering there are still 10 remaining episodes, but it's not bad to see larusso humbled down by discovering some details about Mr. Miyagi and watching his legacy becoming... ruined (sort of, for now) - Master Kim is still alive? Unexpected but not against. - Yasmine had just one scene and accidentally created dark Demetri. Never found him annoying even in season 1 and 2 when he was an easy target, but he has become as such now. There's more to life than colleges and MIT, come on. - in hindsight, some tension was bound to return, it was impossible that Sekai Tekai had so much room for even half the students from the dojo. But once again, larusso... nepotism in favor of Anthony was sooooo annoying. Johnny isn't perfect even if he's my favorite character since day one, but even i can't defend some choices he made in this third of a season (acting out at the dealership especially, as much as i dislike larusso he did a good thing by letting him have a job at the place). - Mike Barnes returned and i wasn't sure it would have happened, cool, and the plot had a decent place for him. i was so afraid of that working saw during the brawl with Johnny. - finally Shawn Payne returned and i liked how he rejoined Kenny and had some good words to make him think about his current status. Kenny had a well known moment in season 5 where he went way too far with his revenge against a former bully, but still couldn't hate him even after that point. - Brucks also returned, and i had chills when he faced Hawk and remembered his near-death beating from season 3 flashback included, but finally he seemed changed for the best. MIT twist wasn't that much of a surprise but... still amusing. Kyler... more or less same thing, even if it was already revealed by the trailers. Odd to think he accepted to face humiliations and "rituals" to enter a fraternity to begin with, but hey, at least now he knows once and for all how it feels to be on the receiving end. - so Johnny and Carmen are expecting a girl. Cool, if somehow a timeskip happens at the very end and it is focused on her preparing for her first All-Valley Tournament i would be soooo happy, it's not even my idea, it was from the imagination of someone else on the internet. Even if it would be even greater if Johnny regains control of Cobra Kai and clears up its name from all the previous troubles with all the good experience he had since reopening it. - slumber party organized by Johnny was... something. So many great 80's songs have appeared in Cobra Kai but completely didn't expect Cyndi Lauper's greatest hit, and it still worked in context. Also, even if it wasn't Johnny's intention, it finally brought to a beautiful moment between Tory and Sam (never hated Sam even if i've always been team Tory, even when she was at her worst in season 3). - poor, poor Tory. |

almost forgot to recap part 2 of the last season, enjoyed it more compared to the first one, even if, well, the way it abruptly ended... Damn. - Chozen... what if her failed attempt to propose to Kumiko failed because of bad misunderstandings? Whatever, completely didn't expect to see him connect to sensei Kim of all people but... it actually worked? Is this the beginning of development and redemption for her? i'm in. Also, she's great with her hair down. - Hold Me Now by the Thompson Twins was as unpredictable as a song choice as Cyndi Lauper in part 1, but once again, i enjoyed it. Even if it showed the consequences of a bet gone wrong - unfortunately both the main dojos lost the first round but it isn't as surprising that some heavy competition was at the door. Axel is ok (and deserves sympathy for that obnoxious sensei Wolf's abuse), Zara... attractive as a badass fighter, totally unlikable for her mean girl behavior. Good for Tory when she exposed her during a live streaming. - yeah, Larusso is so obsessed with his mentor he put himself in trouble and left the team when it needed him, even if i disliked him more in part 1 - again, i never had a problem with season 1 and 2 Demetri (considered annoying by many people), but jesus christ, he has become unbearable in 6. He's obviously one of the two major weak links of Miyagi-Do, cheats on his girlfriend because "we're on holidays, duh!", whines with Hawk when he's discovered like it's all his fault, has no accountability, and during sensei Lawrence speech can't read the room to save his life, brags about the fact he has settled for something after the Sekai Taikai and... "SHUT THE F.CK UP ABOUT M.I.T.!!!!!" ... thank you, Hawk. No, really, i was yelling inside the exact same words in my language. Only thing that seemed missing at that point was Hawk staring at the camera, breaking the 4th wall and ending with "you're welcome" to the audience. - luckily, Devon took a look in the mirror and faced the truth, she had to confess Kenny (such a class act about forgiving her immediately) about how she cheated him and Anthony didn't have to suffer more consequences. Also, thank you writers, seriously, thank you for NOT shoehorning him somehow into joining the Miyagi-Do team like his dad wanted in part 1. Amanda did a great job in making the feud between her son and Kenny end, and the latter deserved to join the tournament and turn out to be actually useful like he did, despite "mole" accusations and similar. i could never hate him even when he was at his worst in season 5, honestly. - thanks Miguel for carrying the team and hitting that annoying guy on the plane, also Johnny calling him "my son", or Carmen luckily out of danger with her pregnancy going "karate has joined us all, return there and win" - i'm going random in remembering events, but there is a clear winner for this season until now. TERRY SILVER IS BACK. Damn, i screamed multiple times in joy in front of my tablet at the big reveal, and laughed at Larusso's face too when he sees him. "What, do you think you can rely on that crane crap?" Yeeeeah. Seriously talking, he's a wonderful character, he single-handedly make Cobra Kai as a whole series even more amazing, and it's just great to see his return. Come on, it's already estabilished at this point that the law in general doesn't work the same as in the real world, but after all it makes sense why he avoided prison. He, his house, his dojo were assaulted, and he was the one getting arrested? Come on. On the side, it was great to discover his henchman was the same one from the third film (and same actor as usual) and his lawyer was portrayed by one of the three creators of the show. - can't remember now the name of the Spanish girl that convinced Demetri to cheat, but not gonna lie, she is so cool. i already looked up for the actress and she's a legit karate expert, even better. - the second locker room scene was very emotional and it looked like all the actors weren't even acting. Also, Robby did underperform too much until that point so the following fight could only end like it did - luckily, Cobra Kai returned in game after someone else cheated. Not going to comment the rest of episode 10 (even if young Miyagi was perfectly casted and i enjoyed how AI / CG Pat Morita returned for a few seconds in a dream sequence, roasting Larusso with a very rich choice of words), because... i was pretty much feeling like Amanda, Anthony, Bert, Nate, Edwin and Big Red watching everything from television. - even if hoisted by his own petard... poor Kwon. Two months and a half and it will all finish. Not sure if i'm ready, honestly. |
