Ending of shit.
Toshi, one of the dumbest characters of all history of anime.

To Tsukasa Hojo: from Cat's Eye to City Hunter was a HUGE evolution, almost like water to wine.

It was fun start but got repetitive and boring after 9 episodes, also felt like it was going nowhere fast, so from ep 9 i just skipped to the last 2 episodes and it was like i didn't miss a thing lol, right back where i left and with no end in sight. At the start i was like 'nice this is fun watch!' 7/10, but in the end 5/10 from me.

Damn, after so many years of delays(I started watching back in December 2014), I finally managed to finish this!

So that's the ending. A "what if" scenario if they had indeed catch Cat's Eye and was revealed to be Hitomi.

Really wish they had continued up to the ending of manga. No worries, I have the complete Manga in all English, so I could read it as well sometime ^^

I did see one of the Anime episodes in the manga where Hitomi dress as a man and where Asatani fell in love. It was some chapter in Volume 11/18. So technically, they were actually close in animating the whole thing.

But I see a couple of changes compared to the Anime. Hitomi actually showing her face(with disguise) and talking and tempting Toshi to have an affair on Cat's, even though she hates it "{

Toshi also had some buddies on him helping the investigation and Asatani seems more shy than ever!!!

Guess the Manga is bit different, but I still appreciate the Anime for bringing them to life with full voices and OST :)

Now that this is done. I guess I should watch the other classic 80s work of Tsukasa Hojo.

City Hunter which has multiple seasons, but Season 1 and Season 2 BD are now out with English subs.

Let's go!!!

Overall, this series constant formula never lost its charm on me for the entire run and that results in judging the show as reliable winner in my assessment of anime. While, I did favor the 1st season more serious and plot focus driven (especially the last 16 episodes) storylines, the second season never failed to throughly pleasure my funny bone and kept me coming back again just to reliably smile at the sisters schemes and Toshi's hilarious situations. And this consistency is something we can take for granted in the formula driven second season but credit must be given for any concept that keeps the audience coming back for more even its just your favorite cup of coffee. And that reliable cup of Joe is how I rate Cat's Eye as a reliable pick me up when you are feeling cold, down and sometimes miserable...just stop by the cafe and enjoy an sexy, fun and warm cup of the Kisugi sisters and their funny friend, Toshi to pick up your spirits.

This episode I gave 5 just because it delivers a unique final curtain as the show was always just a performance for an audience to enjoy and not take too seriously. And once you understand that, you step back and cheer knowing in the end Hitomi and Toshi will obviously go out together united and everyone will cheer their entrance into a happy married life but for now let's remember to celebrate the current elation and leave the ultimate legacy to further contemplation. The entire series I give a solid 8.5 but if I had to round that number I definitely go up and not down.

I gave this episode a 5, out of respect for a series that I found to be extremely charming and oozing with that addictive 80s flavor! I have to say that this was also a really original episode, by creating this "play-within-a-play" (really, some post-modern content here). Yes, it didn't provide the "true ending" I wanted to see, but that's ok. I enjoyed the series, and that's what matters in the end: the ride. I'll probably read the manga someday, to see the way it truly ends!

What's next? City Hunter, of course! And that crossover with Lupin, which I'm really curious about!

Agree with you and Kuruna up there! The play-within-a-play was as good of a "normal" resolution episode as we could have hoped for considering they weren't going to wrap up the story I guess. I had to look up on Wiki and Reddit to see what happened but don't want to spoil anything.

I'm excited to try City Hunter again -- maybe got into about 5 episodes before trying Cat's Eye later. Loved the art style and vibe but was a little turned off by the MC hitting on & groping women all the time (something we didn't see in Cat's of course). Maybe another chance.

I thought it was a great "finale." I highly doubt Hitomi would've turned herself in to save Toshi's job, though, let alone take her own life out of shame. If it came down to it, I bet he would have just resigned and kept the secret, maybe even been folded into the group while daylighting as a simple salaryman somewhere.

As for the whole series, I loved practically every minute and it's definitely a classic. I admit that much of the 2nd season wasn't as exciting as the 1st, but the stories and heists were very inventive, and it's a real accomplishment that they didn't rehash any save for a few. Somewhat disappointed that they never brought back some characters like Lupin's Bride and Slim Suspense, as they could've had at least 1 more ep each to spice things up (maybe in the manga?).

And, of course, the lack of any resolution regarding the father was total let down. There wasn't even a real reason given as to how them collecting all this artwork was going to lead them to him in the first place. I kept waiting some hidden messages/symbols in the paintings to be revealed and that would point to his location. I also wanted to see a little something of how they became Cat's Eye in the first place. Oh well...

Toshio was the real MVP, as his blundering and interactions with the chief were always comedy gold. And the progressive romance with Hitomi was solid.
