Promotional Artwork for Gintama [Official Gintama Movie Twitter Account]
Just yesterday, Warner Brothers Japan uploaded a new, more in-depth teaser for the Gintama live-action movie. Here are a few things we have to say about it.
-
Great costumes
Well of course it was going to have great costumes. Set during the Edo period in Japan, many characters wear traditional Japanese clothing, or a close approximation of it. The Japanese tend to be pretty good at making those. Even the slightly more eccentric get-ups aren't your typical, insane anime outfits that are impossible to pull off in real life.
-
Cheesy special effects and action
With the glowing swords and stiffly choreographed fight sequences, you wouldn't be out of line for thinking this looks like a slightly more polished episode of the Power Rangers.
-
Funny?
We had a little chuckle at the end of the teaser when Shinpachi smacks Henpeita with his sword and he cries out "It hurts so good!". However, we're still waiting to see some classic Gintoki reactions, and more scenes that give a better idea of whether the movie/actors can actually pull of the humor of Gintama.
Check out the teaser below, and wait with us in anticipation for the July 14th release date.
