According to Google, the average native squirrel around here is about 200-400 grams. How the fuck can they charge 100 bucks for that? 5 € still seems too high. That's almost the same as I pay for ground chicken.

Surely those hardcore shippers are very civil when discussing their opinions with other fanbases. :) A bunker that is hidden deep under a mountain, hopefully. Otherwise, his survival chances aren't looking too good.
I can almost feel a finger of the monkey paw curling. For a long time, I was hoping for an ice hockey anime. While I did get one eventually, Japan thought it would be great to turn it into a cute girls do cute things type of show. It was horrible. As for wrestling, you might just get stuff like this.

Fantastic. The world is in dire need of more snake oil sellers.

Exactly. Now we need to find a way to unlock magic powers, and we will finally be able to reach a utopia.
Vacations? In Japanese working culture? Preposterous. They can rest once their burnout-induced stroke hits them.
Disney is too busy rebooting old stories.

Jumping over to PC is great because it gives you so much more freedom and a ton of indie games. It will get very expensive very fast if you want top-tier technology, though. The only downside of those classic games is when the publisher decides to shut off all services.

Life only gets busier and busier. Hope you enjoyed your hiatus.

You also make a good point. From my experience, it is just really rare to find narratives and plot twists of that caliber. It's not easy, probably nearly impossible, to write something truly unique and surprising.
Honestly, I have no idea how big German dubbing is. But we did have specific TV channels back in the day, which exclusively played dubbed cartoons and animes all day long.

Hi Thomas,

hope you have been well. Here is another very late reply from me, but as they say better late than never right hhahaah

I have been watching more anime than usual in the last few weeks. Mostly checking out new anime from the winter season, and also finishing some anime from my backlog

Anime i am checking out from the winter season are

Ameku Takao no suiri karte (If you have watched the apothecary diaries, i think one can compare this series with that one, some people have been calling the main protagonist a modern Maomao hahah, she is basically a doctor who treats rare diseases of her patients, it is very interesting so far)

Jibaku Shounen Hanako Season 2 (Have not started watching the episode 1 of s2 yet, hopefully able to start soon once i have finished some other series)

Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no kawaii ga tsuujinai (I have read volume one of the manga first and prefer it over the anime, they changed a few things in the anime which i dont really like, and I find the voice of the female protagonist not so fitting and a bit annoying hahaha so the anime is a bit of a let down so far ahhh)

The apothecary diaries season 2 (very very happy this finally got s2, it feels like not so long ago when i finished s1, also love the opening song by lilas Ikuta who is the lead singer of yoasobi, the song is very catchy)

Okinawa de suki ni natta ko ga hougen sugite tsurasugiru (very long title omg, but this anime is about the life and stereotypes of okinawa, you learn quite a lot of things about the culture of okinawa, but i just wonder to how much extent some of the things in the anime is true and how much is too exaggerated haha still a very interesting series to watch on a weekly basis)

solo leveling season 2 (yes i gotta confess i am in the minority that thinks solo levelling is just mid....idk why it doesnt really catch me that much, but i am watching it together with my bf and we always make fun of the main guys chin cause it gets sharper and sharper each episode HAHAHAH)

sakamoto days (probably my absolute favorite of the new winter season, i was already super anticipating this series before it was out and even bought two physical volumes of the manga haha the first 3 episodes of the anime are so much fun to watch, the character cast is so colorful and fun, i love the series so much)

link click bridon arc (link click is one of my all time favorites so happy when they announced a new season, only i still dont know where this is timeline based, and so far most of the story falls a bit flat compared to the previous two seasons, but its still nice to watch)

zenshuu (animated by mappa, ironic, an anime about animators by a company that doesnt treat their employees well HAHA i feel like this stoy will have a dark turn, maybe already very soon, so far its ok, feels a bit repetitive....)

Haha i hope you enjoyed my small impressions of some of the anime i am currently watching

Hope to hear from you soon and please dont be in a hurry to answer immediately hehe

Have a great day!

Happy New Year, Thomas! May the year 2025 bring you health, new opportunities and many meetings with wonderful people! ^^
I had to look up what a slinky is xD Sometimes I feel really old. But it’s wonderful that you’ve discovered a new hobby!
My second internship at the youth welfare office has begun! And I feel like I’m getting more done, which is a big improvement from my first internship, where I was rightfully reproached that I tended to take too long to fulfill my tasks.

I’m happy you liked the music so much!
Recently I’ve been enjoying Taizé chants, which are among the finest examples of modern sacred music and one of the best fruits of the Taizé Community. They tend to be very meditative and consist of verses sung over an ostinato. Here’s a playlist of them!
But my favourite one is actually not on this playlist. “Nada te turbe” (updated link as of 8 January) is based on a poem by the Carmelite mystic St. Teresa of Avila: “Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you. He who has God lacks nothing. God alone is enough.” Whenever life is too overwhelming, I find lots of consolation in these words :’)

I’m amazed that this podcast is bringing so many people together to read the Bible and pray with each other. It’s a really beautiful thing.
Slowly but surely, I’m getting through the Bible and I’m about to start the Books of Kings. Revelation is one of the books I’m most looking forward to! Others are the Wisdom and Sirach, the prophets Ezekiel, Daniel, and Hosea, and Acts!

Hey Thomas, I haven’t been in best spirits lately. In the coming year, I’m trying to be a less lazy and more active person and become better at practicing kindness in everyday life. Can you spare a prayer for me in a quiet minute? (I’ve been apprehensive about asking people to pray for me in the past. It comes from a feeling of inferiority, but it’s also a kind of pride, like I can deal with it on my own – a fallacious way of thinking. Therefore I want to appreciate your prayer.)

Let’s talk about anime! :D
I’ve been watching lots over the holidays. Out of the ones I’m currently watching, my favourites have been these:
- I had read some of the Blue Box manga before, so I’ve anticipated the anime very much. At the beginning, I wasn’t too impressed, but it’s been getting steadily better.
- Strangely, I’ve been enjoying Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister. It’s a rather benign harem with likable characters and interesting themes, and I’m happy it got two cours, which means the story will inevitably be more memorable for me.
- Yatagarasu has impressed me a lot. It has well-written intrigue, interesting characters, and looks phantastic. I also like that it’s not a very “anime” anime, if that makes sense. I’m very curious where it goes and would love to see it continued.

That’s how it tends to go ^^” Sorry I’ve taken so long too. Thank you for wishing me good luck on my exams. It feels good to be done with them. It would feel even better to find out that I have passed, but unfortunately I have to wait a few more weeks for that. I actually had a flu over Christmas, but I’m doing better now. How are you doing? ^^ As always, I'm looking forward to your reply!

Sh1ro_ | Dec 31, 2024 12:59 PM
Thank you very much Thomas!! No worries, I don't mind waiting for your reply a bit haha. I always have so much fun on our Hyperbeam watches, so hopefully we'll find lots of great ones next year as well!
And happy new year btw!! 🎉🎉 Lovely new profile too, I love that art!

Sh1ro_ | Nov 21, 2024 9:02 AM
Amazon is not even available here, I'd rather have a hoodie instead lol.
I'm happy to help! I don't read that many light novels, but it's nice to know where to find them :D

Yes, it has a very nice smell that lasts quite long haha. Ohhh that's exciting! Let me know if you find something cool! I think I wanna try gingerbread soap this year xD

Oh, I never thought of doing that actually. Whenever I get excited about a certain seasonal, I watch the episode right away haha. But that's a clever way to watch :o That game seems really fun! I think it had a lot of recipes too right?
Omg I kind of had the same impression before starting the manga xD I think it bothered me how Yona was in love with her cousin iirc. And I'm also not big on the childhood friends to lovers troupe, so maybe that was it. Well, the anime is only a small part of the story and I mostly like the manga because of Yona's development. She is a spoiled princess in the beginning and kind of like a "damsel in distress" so seeing her start to fight her own battles and becoming more and more brave is pretty nice! The manga is also quite long (over 40 volumes) and I love long stories! It pretty much feels like an endless adventure which is nice haha.

Hmm, I think it's Howl's Moving Castle followed by Spirited Away. Both are gorgeous movies and are quite memorable! I also really want to watch Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, because that seems like the most Shiro core out of all his movies xD I'm surprised I haven't seen it yet lol. What about you? What are your favourites?
Yup, I have a feeling it will be very helpful! Interesting, my fav was Overlooking View but we'll see if it'll stay the same on a second watch xD

That seems like a win win situation xD I do enjoy it when people talk about something they're very passionate about. It's special because they bring up things you've never thought of before or it makes you appreciate the little details better. So yeah, it's nice :D

And I'm still so lazy to change my profile xD I missed my chance to have a Halloween themed profile this year haha. Hopefully I'll get more motivated to change it for Christmas!
The Alice mood is a great mood if you ask me xD

Huskkay | Nov 12, 2024 11:07 AM
How much are you willing to pay for roasted squirrel?

Maybe if the guillotine were a more manageable size.

Hardcore shippers are probably one of the vilest "fan groups". I am surprised the author is still alive.
I wouldn't mind if all the battles in Naruto, and most other Shounen for that matter, were fought in wrestling rings, and they would just tag in the main character to win the day after some heated back and forth.

And if they don't want to pay, a little bit of convincing can go a long way.

What could possibly go wrong if people could use magic powers?
MAPPA animators are already hooked up on life support. Once MAPPA runs out of shows, it's going to look bleak for the animators.
Disney certainly has the money, and with a Three Kingdoms-focused show or movie, they might cash in big with China.
Okay, time to bookmark The Ravages of Time. Too bad it is still ongoing.

If it is an AAA studio, it always boils down to the shareholders or inept management. As for indie companies, well, sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss.

We could end up hurting diabetes' feelings.
Since you are still around, it looks like you are in the clear.

I don't really mind spoilers unless the whole movie/show/whatever is built around that one spoiler.
Actually, the movie selection around here is kind of terrible, and I am not just speaking about anime movies. It's hard to find them in their original audio and so many "artsy" movies from France and Germany are filling the line-up. In massive cities like Vienna it would be easier, but that is a long drive from my house.

Sh1ro_ | Nov 1, 2024 2:29 PM
At least I found the ova, which is 44 mins! But how many eps are there supposed to be? 12 or 13? xD

Sh1ro_ | Nov 1, 2024 2:12 PM
What is happening?? xD

Sh1ro_ | Oct 30, 2024 1:41 PM
He'd be sooo happy to get them, I'm sure of it xD
No problem! Even there I can't find all the light novels, but it's still better than nothing I suppose.

No no, this is a fun question! We have lavender soap now xD But as Christmas is coming closer, you bet we're gonna switch to something more festive again haha.

Oh, I don't know about you, but I usually save the good stuff for quite a while. Like, it's good to know you always have something to look forward to! I was also kind of hoping more chapters will get translated but... it didn't happen yet ^^;
Yona was nice to read, even if the beginning is a little sad. But when more characters join Yona's team and they travel together is so fun! Also there are two characters that remind me of Guts and Griffith tbh :o Have you ever watched the anime? I wasn't a big fan of it, but I like the story so much better in manga form haha.

Yeah, Miyazaki is not the best person and I try to forget he exists in order to enjoy the movies xD I think I should rewatch Kara no Kyoukai in the right order this time, so the timeline is less confusing ^^;

Haha yes, you were indeed cooking :))) No kidding, I've learnt so much more about UBW by watching all those scenes and reading your essays! But it definitely shows you love that story a lot, otherwise you wouldn't have been so invested. I did like Fate when I first watched it too, but a lot of things went over my head if I could say so xD Now I see the story in a different light haha.

Oh, thanks! I think Frieren has been my main theme lately. It's been so fun looking for cool art on zerochan since you showed it on Hyperbeam xD Whenever I want to change my pfp I look there first! And of course, all your profiles have been really good too!

Okay, I might go nerd mode for this, which means I'm gonna mention every single show I've watched xD Let me quickly write my thoughts for the summer seasonals, then I'm gonna move to the current ones!

What about you? Watching anything interesting? :D

Lumi | Oct 2, 2024 5:51 PM
Happy Birthday, Tompa!! Hope you had a wonderful time, miss you lots <3
I tried to look for a decent birthday pic of Alice Kuronji on Google, but this was the best I could find xD

Gooseflower | Oct 2, 2024 12:16 PM
🍀 Hello Thomas, I wish you the happiest of birthdays, and I hope you have/had good time with whoever you might be celebrating with! 🍀

(Sorry this is so late, it's been kind of a long day for me. Seeing your comment yesterday made me really happy ^^ I'm so glad we're able to talk about so many different things together! Regrettably, it might take some time for me to reply to it because I have exam-season at the moment. Take care, my friend!)

Sh1ro_ | Oct 2, 2024 11:12 AM
Happy birthday Thomas!! 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for being my friend and for watching sooo many amazing and sometimes less amazing shows for so long :D I'm really grateful for you taking the time to watch something every week! It means a lot.
I hope you had a wonderful day with all your loved ones and lots of cake <3

Huskkay | Jul 14, 2024 9:03 AM
He might. Search the menu for something like a squirrel Wellington.

Like chopping vegetables?

The old cast of characters needs to be lame, or else they will steal the show again. Also, with the constant power creep, either nerf the old guard or find some (stupid) reasoning to adjust the new power levels. Otherwise, you could just chuck Naruto at every problem, and it would get fixed.
Well, to be fair, unless it is blatantly obvious or you have read the source material, fillers or at least some extra padding would go unnoticed most of the time. That being said, once again, Gintama summarized it best:

Promised Neverland season 2 also tried to weave in rewritten stuff, no? Anyway, it was a dumpster fire nonetheless.

Yeah, make that VIP line and laugh at all the peasants who have to wait.
You should also try to sell the course to others.

Wait, are you saying people did not wield magic and superpowers before technology got involved?
They are going to make a GoT anime. Hopefully, MAPPA does not get the rights, or their animators might actually just croak.
Imagine if Disney made a Three Kingdoms show with Dong Zhuo as the main character and built him up like a Marvel villain. I also checked out the anime and manga world for stuff related to Three Kingdoms, and a few people talk about The Ravages of Time and Souten Kouro, but I have no idea if they are any good.

He didn't shave it sooner because he wanted to taunt us.

Beats me, I am not a developer.

What if we sent an eviction notice instead? Will that get rid of diabetes?

Why would they read random comments? And if anything happens, just drop napalm on the server structure.

Man, a nice 3-week vacation would be so lovely. But that is just stuff of dreams. I kind of stopped looking at new seasonals because I never watch them anyway. I would rather binge-watch shows over a few days. Do they show anime movies in cinemas where you live? Sometimes they do it around here, but most of the time it is with a German voiceover. Which is tough to stomach.

Lumi | Jul 13, 2024 7:18 AM
Domestic Girlfriend?? Omg, haha. I never fully watched it, but I've come across random clips of it on YouTube in the past, and... well, I don't know what to say other than I guess it was quite dramatic, toxic, and sensual? xD Based on what you're telling me, the one in charge of the music at your gym is definitely a swfitie. You should make friends with whoever he/she is and convince them to play your favorite music instead (˵ •̀ᴗ•́˵)و

YOOOOOO I SAW THAT! I can't believe it's finally happening :o Though I wonder if this newer upcoming movie adaptation is gonna be just as good as the og Versailles no Bara anime. I guess the animation will definitely be more fancy since it's MAPPA, haha. We'll see. What are your thoughts on there being a movie adaptation?

Gooseflower | Jul 12, 2024 4:00 PM
Hello Thomas, I’m sorry to say that since I wrote my last comment, I have neither taken up drawing nor Hebrew xD Thanks for encouraging me though ^^
But on a different note, I’m almost done with the first internship of my training. I am now a deskjockey at the neighbouring district office! It was a good couple of months there, we have lots of things to do, and evidently most importantly: I get along with everybody.

Haha, 2017 should actually be around the time he went. Why Lund? Is it significant in regard to the Reformation?

On the wedding-march: Look what I found! I love this channel, he makes major-to-minor or vice versa edits. Bit of a shame hasn't uploaded in a while. Divorce jokes aside, I think this sounds absolutely badass in a minor key! What do you think?

Very beautiful song you shared! Have I ever told you that I think Swedish is the prettiest language there is?
I was recently revisiting some traditional folk and children’s songs from not only my childhood, but several generations back. I wonder how many of today’s young ones still grow up with them, but I regret to say it's probably not that many.
Here’s a nice one ^^ (with translation):

Get ready for a load of Latin.

I like you new set of tracks! California Dreamin’ and Somebody to Love are classics. Is the second one about the Battle of Stamford Bridge? I also liked Make Your Own Kind of Music and Forever Young ^^

I have picked it up again, though not as regularly as the name Bible in a Year implies ^^” But at the moment I’m in the middle of the 1st Book of Samuel and have arrived at the story of my namesake saint!
Have you listened to some of it? c:

Mother Natalia said this in one of her videos. Identifying ourselves with our vices is one of the most dangerous things we can do. When we succumb to them, we will often say, “Hey, I’m only human,” when it’s actually our primordial calling not to sin. Your and my first identity is as a beloved child of God by virtue of our baptism. He wishes better for us. How can we love our neighbour when we can’t love ourselves?

It’s late and I’m tired, and I should have probably already gone to bed, so I don’t really want to write a long review for Frieren or Apothecary Diaries, but you can probably guess that I loved both and can only agree with you. I am full of anticipation for where the stories will go next! c:

Next week is my last working week, and then I’m on leave for the rest of July and August. Take care, Thomas, and talk to you soon! ^^

Sh1ro_ | Jul 12, 2024 11:31 AM
Every season is a new chance for Mal hoodies >:D Isn't that just great?
Here's the site I was talking about! You can find a lot of light novels there, which is really helpful because they are hard to find. But the download speed is kind of slow lately, still it's better than nothing :D

Hmm, some people might consider us childish then. But you just gotta appreciate the little things in life, like fancy soap in this case xD
Ohh next time I need to get rid of some stalkers, I'll ask for all the music :))))

I'm still saving the manga for later because for some reason, knowing I have something I'll 100% enjoy is comforting haha. Also, don't say that! It's hard to remember everything you want to say in that moment, but you were still helpful!
And yes, I'll definitely let you know when I start it! Right now I'm reading Yona of the Dawn, so maybe after that :o

Oh, I understand that! Some things just hit differently when you're older, sometimes in a good way and sometimes not. There are so many things I want to rewatch though, because I'm really curious what I'll think of them now. Baccano, Kara no Kyoukai, Koe no Katachi and some Ghibli movies are a few examples.
I loved reading your Rin essay! That's one of the reasons it took me so long to write back, because I kept trying to find the perfect time to read it multiple times and appreciate it. I'm definitely seeing Rin in a different light now, I've liked her from the beginning of course, but there's so much more to her character! Like this part you wrote, I could see this being part of the reason her and Shirou are your OTP haha.
"A part of her has accepted the world for what it is, but it isn’t really what she wants or what she needs. She knows her capabilities and if something seems impossible to her she won’t even bother. She can be described as a realist and that isn’t bad in itself, but her journey of self discovery leads her to realize how much hope she wants for the world. How she wants to be a passionate dreamer like Shirou. Even when things seem impossible it doesn’t stop Shirou and that gives her hope."
But anyways, the way her magus life gets in the way of her personal life makes things complicated, as she has things she wants to do and ones that she's supposed to do... Also, her quote in the beginning is beautiful! I love how powerful that kind of mentality can be. Rin is such a badass. The prologue is really interesting, it's a shame people don't pay enough attention to it. I guess most just want to get to the main story sadly. After reading this essay, I have a feeling Rin is the main heroine after all! The other routes can't be canon xD
I appreciate this essay you've wrote, it's obvious the story impacted you a lot, so you've noticed a lot of little details that people might've missed. I'm glad you had fun writing it too! I'm definitely curious about the OTP essay as well, just don't feel pressured to write it as soon as possible. What's important is to have fun with it :3

We'll be super ready for the 30th anniversary Thomas! I loved Frieren so much I just had to make a profile about it haha. But there are soo many cool pics with Witch Hat Atelier too! I'm just so excited for the anime adaptation :D

Lumi | Jun 23, 2024 4:37 PM
Ah sorry to inform you, but nothing related to Kanye would make me emotional to be fair, HAHA ⚆_⚆ Been doing fine! Both at work and in my personal life in general c: Happy to know you're doing well too! Are you still doing Hyperbeam watches with Shiro? Going to the gym and blasting Taylor Swift and AI cover songs out loud? xD

Lumi | Jun 22, 2024 8:25 AM
Thank you so much, Tompa!! "We go way back as OG friends" why is this so sweet T-T Your bday message just made me smile like an idiot, haha. Thanks for all these years of friendship <3 I was gonna get emotional af, but then listening to the AI cover you attached completely changed my mood, LOL. you're the best :') and hope you're doing well!~

HanTianJelly | May 31, 2024 3:53 AM
Helloooo Thomas
Are you still active on MAL?
I feel bad for not replying regularly T_T
As I quickly answered you recently on ig, i am busy with moving. Tomorrow all our furniture arrives, and then we can start building and the most fun part: DECORATING.

I have been watching some anime episodes every week though: these are the 3 I am watching -> Kaijuu no 8 (I alredy read the manga and am quite far there), my hero academia seaso 7 and wind breaker

I see you are watching kaijuu no 8 too, what do you think of it?
Since I already read the manga way before the anime got released, i was super hyped when i saw the first episode. It is pretty well adapted. Also I was so shocked when i learned that one republic sings the ED? ONE REPUBLIC???? THE ONE REPUBLIC I KNOW????
omg....did all the budget went into hiring actual american singers singing for anime omg
It just shows how popular anime is nowadays its crazy xD

How have you been? Watching anything cool lately?

Huskkay | May 12, 2024 12:53 PM
And if they don't accept it, we will convince them.

Ah, yes, a squirrel on a stick. A culinary masterpiece.

Thanks, you can use it in the meantime if you want.

Counterpoint: Boruto exists. And a truckload of similar lame characters. Naruto probably has more boring than exciting characters.
All that being said, it was an okay-ish sendoff. Then the Boruto anime happened, and somehow it holds a fanbase.
Maybe it is because I don't watch long ass animes anymore, or maybe it is because 100+ episode shows are pretty rare, but fillers aren't really a thing anymore with most shows, no?

You should build a roller coaster in your backyard. No more waiting in lines.
How come you haven't tried to sell me anything yet?

I played a bit of Three Kingdoms over the last month, mainly as Gongsun Zan and Kong Rong, and apparently there is a mod that provides a lot of detailed lore for each character. Did Dynasty Warrior go into more detail with each character?
Yeah, GoT was massive. Everywhere you looked, there was GoT. I wonder if they ever plan to remake the last season, considering how hard it bombed.
I don't know a lot about Romance of the Three Kingdowms or the historical facts behind it, but Cao Cao seems like the flagship. Also, a morally gray character seems to be more popular than a straight-up heroic one in today's media. I could see it happening. A little side note: I am a fan of the Mandate of Heaven trailer. Maybe the Yellow Turban Rebellion could also deliver some decent material for a show.

Not only friendships, Santa ruins lives.
Honestly, it seems impossible.

Everyone does.

What if we told diabetes to simply fuck off? Could that work?

Reading minds is against the Geneva Convention, so you better not!

Working, reading the latest doom and gloom news, training, questioning this whole reality, doing boring stuff, considering summoning an eldritch horror. I think that sums it about up. What's happening in your life?
