If I give the quality of the packaging and extras I'd give it a 6.5 overall. Just wish they would have given the cast list and names on screen that occurred during the LD version more attention. |

Watching the US collectors' bluray edition of the original series. Here's how I'd rate it. Picture Quality: 10 Subtitle Translation 10 Not including the character/ship names: 1 Cast list 1 (they use the same list over and over and don't update it) Overall: 5.5 I love it, but I wish they would have tried to do as much as we fansubbers did. I see them as lazy. |

I finished reading the books a couple years ago. After reading them I can see where they added more in for the series. Especially fort he epic space battles. I thought they did a great job of adapting the original anime series to the books. Even the additions don't feel like the typical filler that so many anime (i.e. Naruto or Bleach for example) have done. The release of Die Neue These is also a very good adaptation. I like some of the changes they have introduced. Plus they're staying pretty faithful to the novels. |

Good lord I miss this show. It's been over 10 years since I first watched it... thinking of re-watching or just go ahead and read the books since they're collecting dust on my shelf. |

Well, the question was what order to view them in, not whether or not to watch them. I watched the original first of course because that's all there was when I was collecting the LDs. But if you want timeline version, especially new people to the series, the order of there timeline is there for them to follow. |
