There's virtually no culinary content in Chocolat no Mahou so it cannot join. The other two are welcome though!

Manga about the creation of cup noodle.

Catexia | Oct 14, 2015 1:29 PM
JK Meshi! for anime relations?

DalPuri | Oct 13, 2015 5:38 PM
How about Kami no Shizuku? It's a manga about wine, and discusses the marriage between food and wine.

Takasugi-san Chi no Obentou should probably be in manga relations. It includes several cooking tips in the story.

lanblade | Oct 30, 2014 3:40 PM
Added the Shokugeki no Souma and Shouta no Sushi: Kokoro ni Hibiku Shari no Aji anime.

I'm adding the Koufuku Graffiti for now. Looking at the Jap manga pics is 50% very detailed food drawings and 50% close-ups of moe underage girls with orgasm faces and giving fellatio faces but like for food. I guess it's a "watch these girls slurp up some artesian specialty somen and pretend they're slurping up some dick" dynamic. Truly a seinen series.

Look under the Comics tab at the top, then click on advanced options in the search box. Cooking is actually the second one in the first column.

We'll wait for Momomoke Restaurant to get some more chapters out. So far it seems like Working! where a setting that requires food that they barely feature rather than FUCK YEAH FOOD LET'S GET COOKING RESTAURANT ALL THE WAY.

Udon no Hito is on my PTW too. I'll save this puppy for reading next week and see if udon is well represented to join the relation list.

xxxHolic would be a great addition! Even though it's not super-food they did spend a lot of time talking about intricate non-traditional food items. Very educational. Stamp of approval!

I added the others and manga counterparts of the anime with have. Only if the manga is majority food. So like even though the Toradora!: Bentou no Gokui special is here, the Toradora! manga wouldn't be since the manga rarely goes over making food besides compulsory bento making in any romance-school genre.

Oh wow I had no idea Batoto had tags. Is there a giant list of tags somewhere? I can't seem to find it.

I'm the opposite, I read more than I watch. Other than the manga counterparts to the anime relations, I can think of :
Gente-haven't read yet, pre/sequel to Ristorante Paradiso
Ai ga Nakute mo Kutteyukemasu-Not love but delicious foods make me happy in English. Something of a restaurant guide for Tokyo.
Kinou Nani Tabeta?-English volume 1 coming in March
Kitchen Princess-haven't read, but I think I remember the blurbs in the back of other manga saying it came with recipes.
Little Forest-on my to-read list if the scantalators finish. Harvesting and cooking wild foods.
Not as sure about:
Momomoke Restaurant-cooking for youkai, only a few chapters out
Udon no Hito- revolves around noodles, but think it might be more of a romance, plan to read
xxxHolic-I recall them spending a inordinate amount of time eating and describing Watanuki's cooking and alcohol pairing for the dishes before the crossover plot took over. The English volumes often had notes about the foods.
And then there's everything that comes up under the 'cooking' tag at Batoto.

Yes, I'd certainly like to add food manga! I don't read manga remotely as much as I watch anime and I felt like it would have looked depressing to just have manga counterparts of the anime series. If you can find other food manga post them and we can get the relations blooming. Besides that, I know of Nobunaga no Chef because it got a j-drama.

ejala | Feb 17, 2014 7:03 PM
I know. I can almost think of more food manga than anime, but I'm not sure if you want to branch out into that. Mixed Vegetables is a good one-star crossed sushi and pastry chef wanna-bes.

lanblade | Feb 16, 2014 6:40 PM
They're oddly forgettable aren't they!? It's so bizarre.

ejala | Feb 16, 2014 1:18 PM
I seem to recall one episode of Kogepan where they talk about milk softening hard bread, which ended with the ichigo-pan getting drunk. I think there might have been some discussion of different bread types, too. But I see your point, it was more about life lessons than food.
I had been wondering about Ocha-ken as well, but couldn't remember that much about it.

lanblade | Feb 6, 2014 5:42 PM
Thanks for joining Ejala!

I thought about Kogepan but I couldn't remember then actually doing anything food-related. It was just that the characters were food items.

Like in Ocha-ken for example, the characters were tea leaf dogs but it also talked about tea brewing, the differences in tea, foods that go best paired with what tea, and seasonal attributes to certain teas.

So it feels like to me that Kogepan ends up being on the same level as Anpanman and Jagainu-kun.
