Recently I've started working on a map containing all locations of every known footage of the 3/11 tsunami. A lot of the pins contain the names of the area/place/building is was filmed and a backup of the video on archive.org in case it ever gets removed/privated on youtube. All videos are as original and raw as possible.

I'm still far from finished but expect to see more and more locations added in the next few months. Progress is kind of slow because it takes a lot of time to collect information, the raw original footage with best quality and of course finding the location itself, often completely relying on just the name of the town and the footage in the recording. Especially hard when it was recorded from hills and such. After all the locations are not approximate, they are exact, even with routes the cameramen have made. But I really enjoy doing this :) So far I've completed all of Kesennuma City, and I've now started working on the rest. Places like Miyaki and Kamaishi have a lot of footage as well I have yet to add. Even California will get a few spots on the map. Additionally I will add "then and now" pictures using street view showing the recorded locations that have had the biggest change in response to the tsunami, such as sea walls, new buildings, new infrastructure and whatnot.

You can recognize locations and events by comparing videos that are close to each other on the map, often explaining how and why certain events happened on screen.

I didn't realize I was named an admin for this club. I have fixed the club description and added the link 024 provided. Thanks, @024.

A playlist I’ve made containing all known raw footage of the tsunami itself.

I’ll update it when needed

Almost all the sections revised. Planning to add some more - earthquake and nuclear situation specific.

Put almost all the Facebook links I have in the 'extra' section because since I'm not on Facebook I don't really understand how it works, so I can't tell the usefulness/carefulness of them.
Some feedback on this would be appreciated.

@jaysorbet: thank you for your encouragement. Actually, I currently spend most of my time seeking and reading information, so I don't update the club as frequently as I feel I should.

I don't care about people joining, really. Should be obvious from the fact that I allowed non-member posts. I just want people to have easy access to at least a part of the available information in case they're looking for it from MAL.

Loxaris | Mar 20, 2011 3:53 AM
Updated a first part of the revision. Second one should come later today.

Wow this lag is really something. Anyway, I am really impressed by the amount of effort and information that you put into the club, Loxaris. Good job!!

Hopefully, more people join in.

Tomorrow it's national holiday in my country, so I will use my time to polish the list of links a bit, taking down redundant or not very useful ones.

A lot of the information available right now is coming from Twitter, which the Japanese are using to keep in contact and share news: do you want me to put up a list of twitter accounts you should follow to keep up to date?

Loxaris | Mar 14, 2011 6:22 AM
It was my intention since the start to put up the link to Google Person Finder - even though it wasn't very helpful to me.
I'm glad your friends are fine.

As of now, MAL's servers are stricken. It would be better to write links to where the pictures are instead of uploading them, so I can put them on the club's profile.
I think I'll disable the pictures for this club later today. For the moment, I deleted the duplicate ones.

Jaysorbet, if you got the ones you uploaded from an online archive, please write the link here so I can put it up.

Thank you for putting up the Google Person Finder. Yes, the lag was really painful. I uploaded pictures but some of them did not even get in.

I have a few friends in Kurihara and Hachinoche but they are fine and on higher ground.

Well, I'm glad you are keeping this club.

Loxaris | Mar 13, 2011 11:55 AM
Made the links a little more organized. Again, if you have any other news or think I should add something else write a comment here or drop me a line!
