Queer Anime & Manga

Warmly welcome- everyone, in all of our forms! This MyAnimelist group invites us to appreciate anime, manga, life and our relationships with ourselves and others in new and deeper ways. There's lots of anime and manga based around the thought that we need to question society, deconstruct the things we think we know to gain the key to a full life. Even if most series don't canonically include lgbtqia+ characters themes of challenging norms, oppressive systems and hierarchies permeate the art form. Shipping as a concept is often about making room for relationships that are not permitted within the media we encounter. Often that is the only way LGBTQIA+ people have any chance of finding ourselves represented in anime and manga-but there are a few exceptions!
