Shoujo titles usually contains female protagonists, and romantic themes, but it can also have various themes like sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural and along others as well. Unfortunately, a lot of titles, like the Seinen Ah! My Goddess and Chobits and the Shounen Love Hina, are mistakenly labeled as Shoujo manga/anime because of the similarities of the storylines associated with the demographic. However, while Shoujo has idealistic romantic stories, Seinen and Josei focuses on a more realistic approach in romance/life. This is for all the fans of Shoujo anime and manga, from classics like Ribon no Kishi, Rose of Versailles, Candy Candy and Sailor Moon to modern-day favorites like Fruits Basket, Full Moon, Ouran High School Host Club, Lovely Complex, Vampire Knight and Skip Beat and much, much more. We got over 150 300 (!) titles in the manga relations list alone. @RICEA42991 I see, is it kind of like Niagara Falls were the town as a place with nothing in it? Or just very urban with lots of buildings, lol?^^'3
Yeah. definitely..:(

I see, when was that? I don't think I was part of the club back then (or I simply missed it)..^^'>3

Ahh OK.. I'm particularly bummed by Ms. Koizumi because the manga's had its share of issues in Japan as well (the author Naru Narumi had to change magazines multiple times due to issues with the publishers and only recently got back to publishing it irregularly last year), but it was translated by an actual ramen chef and is my type of series (infotaiment CGDCT is like bread and butter to me) so it not having a volume released in a while worries me.. Especially since it seems Dark Horse is straying away from manga in recent years and has been more focused on American graphic novels instead..>:( As for Hidan, it was probably also the same reason as your TokyoPop releases iirc, since it was part of an old well known publisher from the early 00s that went bankrupt (idk about it personally as I never bought any of their books because its before I started collecting English manga) and the license never got fully picked back up afaik (which is a shame because its probably the best LN series out there imho, alongside Peak stories like 86, The Angel Next Door, Classroom of the Elite, Adachi and Shimamura and others).

TL;DR because I tend to blab too much when I get heated about manga/LNs, lol, but I totally get it, its a real bummer when it happens..x'd

@Klefki_of_Awsome Good for you that your areas has plenty of trees. My house is in a rural area so I have plenty of trees in my yard, but in the actual town area.....its a different story :( and yes it is a shame.

Haha yes Aqua really doesn't seem at all like a shoujo but it is? Surprised me so much that I announced it in the club back then.

I can't remember if there were any series I was reading where it got put on hold and never picked back up in English.....only ones I think I remember were the ones that were apart of Tokyopop back during their time when they shut down. They opened back up but from what I heard various mangas never got continued translated from years ago.

@RICEA42991 I see..=v=3

No worries, I've just had it happen often to me lately so I was more familiar with that method, that's all! In fact, as a club leader of two clubs myself, I also very rarely send invitations to others, for similar reasons (though I also tend to forget about them [invitations that is] and I'm too lazy to send some as well, lol)..^^'>3

Yes, I agree! I love the difference in ecosystems from the local flora and fauna we usually have around here. In late May/June there's a lot more turtles and snakes because of hatching season, whereas in the fall you'll very rarely see a sandhill crane or beaver! I'm not sure they are tree frogs tbh, they seem more common on the ground than anywhere else, really, haha..^^'3 And YES, it does get pretty muggy! That's why we try not to stay out too long at a time or go on walk to freshen off when we go there. Sucks to hear they are cutting trees around you... My uncle in a small town in northern Ontario told me they were cutting the millenial year old trees on his property recently.. It's a shame about how humans have no respect for history and tradition these days, really..>:'( Thankfully for us, the trees around our house are protected though because we're "in" the Greenbelt protected space. Oh yeah, bullfrogs ARE quite loud! I remember hearing one before while on a trip and being surprised because they were a LOT louder than our local frogs, lol..x'D

Ahh, I see. You mean Aqua, right? Tbh, this is where I'll disagree with you, sure its a REALLY pretty manga, and I've read it before during my reading of Aria The Masterpiece, the special collection of volumes i have from TokyoPop, but I don't think the art was shoujo like enough to consider it one myself. Huh, I stand corrected, turns out MAL is listing it as one, very strange indeed..:o>
https://myanimelist.net/manga/124/Aqua?q=aqua&cat=manga
The fact the art style didn't change too much between the two series is the most shocking part.. Maybe its only considered that way because of the magazines both manga ran in at the time..?0-0'3

Ahh OK, I guess I missed it in the polls as well, then..=v='3 And yes, same here, it was getting to be too much, honestly.. I might even need to re-read it when I finally get to the newer volumes because of how long ago it was, though I'm not sure I'll have the energy or mental strenght to give it a second read, considering how heavy the series gets..>.>;
Speaking of longtime waits though, there are quite a few series I'd love to see picked back up in English, notably Aria the Scarlet Ammo (nothing to do with the Aria we were talking about before, lol), and Miss Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles.

Ahh, no worries, I only found out because I got back to checking ANN stuff around the time the announcement was made..^^'>3

@Klefki_of_Awsome Feel free to but in, well....you're actually not even butting in because I addressed the question to all of the club members so anyone can give their thoughts on the matter. I only mentioned Yume-iro's name in my reply because she was the first one who replied.

I completely forgot about that other 'method' of finding clubs, even though I have used it in the past, to see if a member is apart of a certain club or not. I don't send out much invites because since I'm the admin I feel like I'm being too pushy if I do it randomly to a user I don't know well.....so I reserve that only to shoujo fans I've spoken with for awhile that I have a feeling would enjoy it. ;)

Swamps can be pretty depending on the area, but at the same time.....come summer.........it's brutal because usually it creates alot of humid mugginess with very little breeze. The only way you'll feel cooler is if your house is close to the water itself, or under enough trees. This is why it saddens me each time a tree is cut down.....less trees means more terrible weather. And yes I have alot od tiny tree frogs too :) I've grown to like them because where I grew up I never once saw a frog, so it now has become a little cozy feeling hearing them go ribbit.....especially since they're not loud bullfrogs.

The manga of Aria itself which the anime is based off of I believe it's shounen....but the original manga series prior to Aria....was a shoujo. So you can say the manga started off shoujo, but in the sequel it became a shounen and thus the anime based off of it was shounen as well. Kind of complicated and jarring to be honest. Surprised me as well when I found it out for the first time. Its not oreally well known compared to the Aria series.

About Sayonara, I only found out to be honest through another user called Maou_heika who I forgot to credit ( she's credited now) if not I'd be completly clueless about it too....although it did appear in the poll as well . A shame because it should've been announced. I agree with you, Volume 2 ended on such a climatic scene that the suspense was too much. I'm glad that hopefully we will find out some things now.

I completly overlooked that sequel announcement back then since I hadn't watched the series yet. Oh well it's still worthy to mention incase others were unaware of it too like I was.

@RICEA42991 Sorry to just but in the conversation but thought I'd share my two cents on your issue as well (I'll reply to your reply after below, don't worry!). For me personally, I either learn of a club existence by two major methods. The first one, is one you mentioned not hearing a lot about nowadays but is still common for me: invites. I usually only know a club exists because someone invites me to it. SInce I'm already in a lot of clubs, I rarely go in the "Club" section anymore to search for new ones, and only accept club invites from clubs that really interest me (or are too persistent otherwise, lol). The other method is through the "Club" section. Now you'll ask me "but Klefki, didn't you say a second ago that you didn't use the Club function anymore?", well you'd technically be correct because what I'm referring to here is the Club section that appears under a user's profile. If I see a person I talk too a lot as an interesting club section, I stalk err I mean, I go check out the clubs that interest me in their lists! That's how I learned there was an Arina Tanemura Fan Club and this club tbh, since I was checking your profile at the time (when I went to send you the FR)!^^3 And that's basically it, for the most part! I'm friends with quite a few club creators/leaders so that led me to join a lot of their clubs, but I also joined a few clubs of my own volition when I first got into them years ago! But to answer your question, it might also be because the site got a new owner recently, and they might not put as much emphasis on clubs.

Oh wow, that's cool!:D One of my good IRL friends used to live right in front of a swamp, in a small residential sector about 10 mins from home, back when they lived with their parents (they've since moved out in an apartment in town). They used to complain how they couldn't step in the yard in Summer because of all the frogs, and indeed, when we went there for their birthday, there would always be tons of tini frogs in the grass, lol!XD

Ahh OK, no worries, I didn't take it as an offence!:)
Well yes, they do say clothes make the model after all, and not the other way around!xD>
Well in a sense I can understand why people would be on edge, what with the world being what it is, but that doesn't excuse being rude/mean to people for sure!:T
I see, lol, well glad I could give you a good laugh, haha!XD (even if I didn't mean it to be that way)

Ohh really?:o> I thought for sure the manga was shounen tbh, since it ran in a shounen magazine and featured themes found in that demographic, but the art does look shoujo like now that you mention it, so maybe I'm wrong..?^^'>3
Welp according to MAL, turns out I'm right? Now I'm confused..x'D

Ohh, you got Lonely Planet?? I'm so jealous, I'd love to read that one if I can find it, lol!x'D

Regarding the sticky update now:
REALLY glad to learn Sayonara, Mini-Skirt is back!! For some reason, I didn't read anything about this anouncement anywhere else though??>:I>
In any case, I'm of the same opinion, I really hope they finish the series, as its one of the few shoujos to really leave me on edge, and its going to kill me inside if I don't get a proper conclusion for it! I mean, we still don't know who that dude was, or why he looks like that guy, right??

That said, for the anime mentioned, it aired last season in Winter 2025, actually, and the sequel announcement was announced right after the anime ended!

@Yume-iro Thanks for replying to my question :) and welcome. That is very strange that this club doesn't appear first?? Especially since last I checked it is the shoujo club with the higest amount of members and thats still active. I would think it should've been one of the first to appear when one looks shoujo up in the club search bar? You are correct though because when logged out, I tried searching and the only way it shows up quicker is if a user goes directly to the club page and then type in the search section that appears there........however when one tries to use the search bar on myanimelist's upper right search bar it doesn't appear unless they click on search all results on the bottom?? This may be a reason, I wonder if there is a way to fix it?

There's another way that users in the past used to find clubs on here through relations, or through member invitations but I think those methods isn't really used much nowadays on here. I think maybe it's something I can ask a staff member for more info, but I doubt they'll reply quickly. Hmmm.......

Yume-iro | Jun 18, 11:14 AM
@RICEA42991 Hi newer mal user here! I don't know about others, but when I first searched shoujo in the clubs search bar, the first few clubs that popped up for me were clubs that hadn't been active in years or were fan clubs for anime/manga series that had the word shoujo in the title or shoujo-ai clubs. It took me a little while to find this club (even though now when I search for shoujo clubs its one of the first ones that pops up.) so maybe some people are having the same problem where they are aren't able to find a shoujo club that's still active and don't want to join the inactive ones?

RICEA42991 | Jun 18, 5:40 AM
Question for club members - Does anyone know in particular why alot of newer post 2014 users who join here that are fans of shoujo....are either not in clubs or not a member of any shoujo club?

I find it funny on how often I encounter shoujo fan users on other sections of the site complaining that there's not much response to the shoujo series they enjoy.......yet they don't bother joining/looking for any shoujo clubs? So often I've seen many users 'know' that this site has clubs because they are members of 'other' clubs but yet aren't apart of any shoujo club? Its odd. I mean it does make sense for users that are apart of zero clubs because that means that they either aren't aware of this section of the site due to the weird layout of the app version of the site (I don't use the app so I don't have that issue) , or don't have their 'panel' section featuring the clubs area (Happened after one of the site's redesigns where clubs feature got kind of hidden away unless users 'arranged' it to be more in view) But when it's users that do know of the clubs feature.....makes me wonder why?
