The very first incarnation of the band was named Tricky Beans. As Tricky Beans, the group produced three demos (Friend till the End, Agre Pamppers and PeaceMaker) and played twice in Jyrki Sähkösirkus, a live tour version of a then famous TV pop show. After some personnel changes in 1997, the outfit changed their name to Tricky Means. Let it be known to the Metal community that initially the band experimented in musical styles far from heavy metal. Turning the page in 1999, Tricky Means recorded a new demo "FullMoon" in Tico Tico Studios located in their hometown, Kemi. At the time of recording the line-up consisted of: Tony (vocals/keys), Jani (guitars), Tommy (drums), and Janne (bass). This new demo was the first exploration for the band in heavy metal waters. The band's trademark sound of fast, melodic and keyboard oriented heavy metal with clear and high vocals was born. As fate would have it, and with help from Ahti Kortelainen of Tico Tico Studios, the "FullMoon" demo found its way to the premier metal label of Finland, Spinefarm. At the same time Tricky Means became Sonata Arctica. Complete History
Other Music related Clubs:

I thought the new album was okay, but not their best. I didn't expect to like the female singer but I'll admit I quite liked Deathaura and her in general on the tracks.

Holy hell, I'm the first one to make a comment about Days of Grays? D: Well IT'S THE AWESOME >w< Right now I think Deathaura is my favourite Sonata song ever, it's just... amazing :D I love the whole sound of the album. It's a piece of genius ^__^ SERIOUSLY can't wait to be seeing them in December now DX

Well I didn´t see them drinking on live... but it was rainy, so I didn´t see all clearly that´s true XD (Still they simply rock)

(Yeah... I think that you´ve got a point there...)

deletemal | May 27, 2009 5:13 AM
Well I can't speak for Sonata Arctica I suppose. But Tuomas and Marco from Nightwish (the guys in my picture <<) are always drinking on stage ^__^;; Finns like their alcohol, that's all I'm saying ^^

(Btw I'm not saying "they're crap therefore they're drunk", it's more like "they're amazing musicians even when they're drunk?? WOW!" kind of thing >w<)

Pandora | May 26, 2009 1:50 PM
R u sure they are drunk while playing? I don´t really think so (even if they always sing vodka, thats true)

deletemal | May 26, 2009 1:38 PM
But all Finnish musicians play drunk~! xD At least that's the impression I've got so far X) Bought Unia recently, it's AMAzing, already my favourite Sonata album :) Should be seeing them in December, it's gonna be awesome X)
