Suwa is a student at Osaki University. He is a member of the basketball club and is also a colleague of Yuki Machida, at a nearby convenience store. He has the reputation of a playboy and is constantly seen with a different girl. He takes on the accent of Hakata, his hometown, when he is angry or drunk. He wears glasses when he's at home.
Suwa confesses to Yuki. He thinks that if it's for her, he will be able to change his attitude.
It is revealed that Suwa has issues with his mother, whom abandoned him. His feelings for Yuki are implied to not be love, but the affection he seeks from a motherly figure.
He says he doesn't understand affection and love, and probably never will, adapting his personality and behavior to the person in front of him. To which Fuka responds with a confession, and declares that she will find the “real him”.
After an eventful basketball club summer camp, Suwa and Fuka start dating.
He receives a letter from his mother, whom he has not met for 16 years. He goes to see her in Fukuoka with Fuka, and thanks to the latter, manages to mend his relationship with her.
