I've been quite good so far - I've been pretty much keeping up with all 12 of the series I picked up this season. Though I did drop Winter Sonata because it was majorly boring.
So I have been watching at least 12 episodes of anime a week, and have begun to start watching some movies and things.
I am particularly interested in watching the original Japanese Pokemon, Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon movies.
I have actually just finished the Sailor Moon movies. Very disappointed with the Black Dream Hole one - too much Chibi-Moon. Though the Luna-centric Hearts In Ice one was super cute and is probably my favourite of the three.

The Dragonball Z movies are so random. They all follow the same pattern by the looks of it. The new bad guy appears within the first 2 mins of the film... and nothing makes sense. I really don't get the Dead Zone movie since it doesn't fit into canon at all, but eventually had a sequel filler-arc within the series? How?
It was entertaining still. Original Japanese audio track FTW!

I am over half-way though a lot of this season's series. I am really enjoying Seiken no Blacksmith, Fairy Tail, Kimi ni Todoke and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun. 11eyes grew on me but Yuka is bugging me so much it will be a struggle to finish. Glad it is only 12 eps long. Sasameki Koto is not my thing. It amused me sometimes, but the characters are starting to really irritate me now, and it has the most boring OP of this season, followed closely by Kimi ni Todoke. My favourites are Letter Bee's OP, Fairy Tail and 11eyes, followed closely by Railgun and Blacksmith.
I need to finish watching last weeks episodes, so looks like another marathon for me before this week's stuff comes out.

Ok! I take it back! Fairy Tail is awesome!
Last week after seeing the 1st ep, I was posting on facebook about how I was disappointed with the casting and stuff, but after seeing a 2nd ep I am won over.
The Fairy Tail anime is as funny as the manga and the voices are really growing on me. The music is amazing too. The opening theme seemed odd at first, but it has a good feeling to it that kinda suits the series. Promises of epicness is what I get from the opening now. The ending is super cute, and seems to follow this season's trend for SuperDeformed chibi character endings (see Sasameki Koto, The Sacred Blacksmith etc)
My favourite music though, is the battle music when Natsu starts using his fire magic. It got me all excited! Tis really good.
As I said, I didn't rate the voices much because some of the cast have been overused recently and I expected Natsu to be more Luffy-like in the vocal department. I'm over that now, but I was surprised at Loki's voice. I was expecting a more grown up voice.. but he sounded too childish. The opposite of the Natsu-problem lol
Anyways, I am so excited for the next episode, and if it wasn't 12.30am I would be straight back to reading the manga, I am that inspired!

Anime Relations: Kämpfer
I added this to my "plan to watch" list on a whim, just to check out new series I hadn't heard of before rather than going with ones I already knew about (like Fairy Tail and Kobato) It sounded a little odd, but I thought I would give it a chance.
It made a bit more sense watching it than reading about it.
A guy gets roped into some sort of group where girls fight each other with german-named weapons. But he needs to be a girl, so he randomly transforms into a girl to fight other girls for a reason which no-one knows yet.
And there are lots of busty girls, and some cute stuffed animals with their intestines hanging out. Weird...
It bugs me that the main character sounds like a girl even when he is a guy. Not cute. He isn't even a particularly girly looking guy, like Hayate in Hayate no Gotoku - who gets away with having a girly voice. No he looks manly enough to have a man-voice. But he is a girl. Like Shinji Ikari from Eva. Creepy.
It'll grow on me, I hope.
The opening theme was cute, but the end theme was just ecchi.
I like some of the characters though and it could get interesting. May take a peak at the manga so I can have a better idea of what is going on and minimize the "WTF?"-factor.
Also... where can I pick me up a Seppuku Tiger/ Black Seppuku Bunny?

I don't remember the last time I watched so much anime.

It was Silver Week this week, which unfortunatly for me left me alone and internetless in my apartment with nowhere to go but the convenience store.
Stupid library is closed on weekends and holidays.
Luckily, I have ordered the internet and it will be getting installed in my apartment within the next 2 weeks. But I digress.

Since I was net-less and friend-less, I was super bored. I also couldn't get motivated enough to do nothing but homework, or read. So I watched anime and ate.
I felt like crap, but I continued to chomp my way through 2000yen worth of food each day ^^; Embarrassing. But I got a lot of anime watched.
I got addicted to Gintama, and have nearly finished the first series. I am severely tempted to read the manga now.
I also fed my HanaDan obsession by watching the anime.
Though I find the opening and pretty much all of the music to be painfully low quality and generally rubbish, and the animation gives the impression of it being much older than it is, I still enjoyed watching the anime. Haven't gone too far in yet, but I have been watching other things too. Sometimes you have to break up the drama with some laughs.
I watched more Hayate no Gotoku as well. And Toradora. In fact, Rie Kugimiya seems to be in everything I watch at the moment.
Toradora is getting better. I'd been slow to pick it up and it has been waiting for me to watch it for a while now, but I never got into it. Forced myself to watch it and now I think it is great :)
Hayate is starting to bore me a bit though, so I hope it picks up. Got another 30-odd episodes to go and then a second series to start.
Looking forward to the new season though, and the ability to download it that having the internet installed at my apartment brings.
I should really go finish the homework I neglected over the holiday. Though I do wish it would do itself.

Anime Relations: Hana yori Dango
So I have been in Japan for a month now.
It seems like much longer, I tell you. But it has been a month.
I had a TV for a total of 2 days (at a hotel) and didn't really find much anime there. I saw a bit of Gintama, and a bit of something I didn't recognise, and a little bit of Pokemon. But that was all.
Nearly all of my anime viewing, therefore, has been stuff I brought with me on my harddrive and saved for such an occasion as I have no internet.
Alas, such an occasion has occured. My apartment, though conveniently located just outside of the university I am studying at, nearby to several convenience stores and book shops, has the major flaw of being net-less. I did say to the letting agency that I needed the internet to communicate with my family and stuff, and they assured me there would be internet. They lied.
But they gave me a 3000yen voucher later, so it is ok, I guess.

I will be getting it installed within the next month, hopefully in time to start downloading the latest episodes of the new season, since without a tv, I am no closer to seeing it than someone sitting in their parent's basement in America, waiting for the latest fansubs.
A guy from the NHK came to my door last night.
「テレビを使いますか」he asked me, expecting to have to explain about Japanese TV licenses and stuff (ha! I know, tis the same in the UK, so I was expecting it), but I felt a little sad telling him he had wasted his journey, for I have no tv!
How could I? I don't even have internet yet! It is so sad. I have to wait until the university is open for me to use their internet, but Japan has so many freakin' holidays that normally I would be overjoyed with, but my internet-access is jeapardised by the closing of the library. And of the stores that could sell me internet :(

But I treated my self to a DS game the other day. Tis not the Pokemon Heart Gold I was hoping to get but is apparently sold out all over the city, but in a way it is better.
It is the Hana Yori Dango DS game.
Lord yes! I can finally do what I have always wanted since I first laid eyes on MatsuJun. I can date Domyouji!
It is so much fun, pretending to be an Eitoku student, being friends with Makino, flirting with Domyouji and the rest of the F4, working 3 part time jobs, making bentou, shopping, being whisked off on holiday randomly by Domyouji's whims.
And it is a great learning aid.
My character is constantly letting me know that the F4 have left her using a phrase I studied only last week. 「行っちゃった」
I have also picked up some kanji for words I didn't realised had kanji. Like 「こと」
Apparently in a sentence like 「アニメを見ることです」I can also write「アニメを見る事です。」with the kanji for 'koto' being the same as 'to write'.
Amazing! And all thanks to HanaDan.
Since it is Silver Week, and I have no net access for the next 2 days, I am going to watch a ton of anime, play my video game, read Lord of the Rings and maybe even study. But in a way, 2 of the previous 3 items mentioned are forms of studying anyway... so maybe I can skip the textbook? No? Probably not.
Well, let's see how much I get done ;)

Anime Relations: Dragon Ball
I work at a cinema, so I get to preview films before we show them to the public, to check the film is ok and not damaged.

So last night at 10pm, I got to preview Dragonball Evolution, the movie I have been waiting for since I found out Dragonball existed.
The trailers made it seem like everything was changed, and it didn't resemble good ol' Dragonball, and general fan opinion online was unfavourable, to say the least!
A boycott of the film has been mentioned by many fanboys.

It would be shame if they went ahead with the boycott, because the film is, I have to say, pretty awesome.

As with any adaptation, there are changes. There are compromises that allow it to be mainstream enough to appeal to the masses as opposed to a select group of existing fans.
