Ruby.

It blazes through an empty space. It illuminates the surrounding environment. It runs free through the land, burning with courage and vitality. Yet, like a fire soon to be extinguished, its morale is dwindling, like a speck of ash falling from the sky. More and more, people march on with their lives with no intention but to survive for their own sake. Dreams fall into the wayside like lava sloping down a volcano, and the passion to strive to succeed slowly disappears into the darkness. To win the Passion of Fire, one must rekindle her own spirit and find a burning desire to succeed, regardless of the path she takes. After all, passion invokes many emotions, and they can either roam free like a wildfire or be still like a candleflame. To become Ruby is to burn with love, courage, loyalty and confidence like a dancing flame on a candlestick.

Emerald.

It is a silent radiance. It surrounds and protects trees and other plant life. It is a warm feeling that envelops—or is—Gaia. To become Emerald is to protect—and become—Life.

Sapphire.

It is the static and motionless ground on which we walk on. It is the medium in which life begins and continues to thrive. It is the foundation of our very existence, the stone that stands alone in the vast darkness. It provides pathways to human life, for human life, and beyond human life, never asking for anything more than to make it use of its resources. However, the ground is crumbling. Lands are shifting, as if the Earth itself is lost without direction. To become one with the stone that wanders in space, one has to be able to stand tall and lead others through adversity with confidence and pride. One must be stable, calm, and fully aware of the situation at hand and thrive in staggering conditions. To accept... to become Sapphire... is to become the foundation of the Earth... and of human nature.

Amethyst.

It reflects with the light of the sun, luring one's eyes into the beauty of its luminance. It encircles the Earth as its keepsake, watching the resting bodies of the unaware. It wanders through the vast empty space, staring at the beautiful scenery that is the Earth from time to time. It watches every little movement that the Earth makes and uses its luminance to fend off the dangers of circumstance from those who are asleep. Yet, despite being the guardian of the Earth, it lacks a guardian of its own. It yearns for someone to keep it company – someone who will stare at its luminance and watch in awe as it slowly moves through the night sky. The crescent wanders around the Amethyst sky aimlessly, as if it is lost in the darkness of the night. To become Amethyst is to be willing to venture toward the unknown darkness and stand guard with the luminance of the moon.

Topaz.

It rises with the morning sun; it sets in the evening horizon. It embraces the morning with courage and confidence, undeterred by the varied events that occur, and it sleeps through the night in relaxation, assured that the world will be kept safe in the moon’s arms. It emits the indiscriminate feeling of warmth and security to the inhabitants of its revolving planets, yet it has lately become as cold as the chilling night, lying in wait for someone...anyone...to return the tender kindness it has emitted for as long as it existed. For Topaz to be in acceptance, one must be willing to strive toward the incoming dawn, casting away all doubt and eliminating any fear that beckons one to fall into the darkness. To become Topaz is to shine in full radiance and become the light of dawn.

Aquamarine.

It yearns for peace and harmony. It searches for trust and friendship. It yearns to be still in love. However, its heart is in turmoil, for it does not see the peace and harmony in this world. Rather, mankind has been content to engage in wars and take innocent lives, unaware of the unfortunate end that would await them. To feel pain when someone is hurt, one can be either as stiff as a stubborn boulder and stay oblivious or as adaptive as water and react quickly. For the sixty-four that are suddenly pulled from their ordinary lives, pulled from the worlds in which they live, it calls for the most adaptive candidate, the candidate that can quickly respond in a suddenly unfamiliar environment. Like the ever-changing form of water, a road to destiny can change. To accept... no... to become Aquamarine... is to adapt.
