So far, the story of Kamiya and her encounter with Shikimori remains my most favorite moment in anime.

Sure, there have been moments from other great anime I've watched that captivated me greatly and would linger in my memory for a few days after indulging them, but nothing lasted quite like the story of Kamiya and its screenplay in Shikimori-san. I obsessed over it nearly one year ago after first watching it and I still do to this day. I rewatch parts of episode 7, the near entirety of episode 8, some parts of episode 9, just so I can see Kamiya's interactions with Shikimori and others again.

To me, the subtle portrayal of Kamiya's love is the best directive and writing work I've seen in anime.

At times as I rewatch, I feel like I experience the writing of geniuses, so much so that besides being jealous of their magnificence, I've done extensive research into looking up the people responsible for the screenplay and directing of episodes 7, 8, and 9 so I could understand more from their craft, more what their individual contributed. I checked their wikis, portfolios, mal profiles if there were any. I would read whatever accounts I could get my hands on regarding their participation into adopting Kamiya's troubled love into animated form so that I could identify the people to thank for.

And of course, I'd have to check the source material, but I'd skip through all chapters, I'd calculate the adapt ratio to try and stumble upon the very episodes containing those dearly felt moments with Kamiya. Once found, I'd read through them carefully, I'd compare every panel to its counterpart in the anime and identify what has been added, what has been enhanced, what part of it was attributable to the original story writer and which aspects were improved by the screenwriters to turn the drawn medium into a watchable series. I'd look out for every subtle sign of emotion in the manga and the anime to understand what carried over, what got removed.

To be honest with you, I'm exhausted at the thought of just how much I could talk about these three episodes involving Kamiya, especially my personally considered magnum opus of all anime moments, Kamiya's encounter with Shikimori on the roof and its resolution during episode 8. Maybe one day I'll keep writing more about it and the other episodes to let you know in greater detail what I think of them and what details I picked on, but mainly what made that moment special to me was... the realism, the purity of heart, the maturity in their approach, the subtlety in their expressions, the allegory behind seemingly meaningless objects, the astute use of sounds, ambiance and music, the expressivity of their emotions...

Why did I write this?

Becuase I was inspired, becuase that's just how much I love Kamiya's character and story in Shikimori-san.

I fear my love may go unheard and as such I decided to post this here in hopes this heartfelt love will maybe linger even after I'll be gone.

And since I can't reach to people responsible for this work of art, I use this as a medium to thank them indirectly.

Thank you to everyone who worked on Kamiya's story and the masterful adaptation of the moments involving her. Your work was one none short of geniuses utilizing their creative prowess to the max.

Thank you all again, and Kamiya...
