i havent exactly complained in a while but hell, why not, and to top it off im revisiting an old complaint of mine, the it takes so damn long to translate a manga one.
ok looking at this one agein, i complained about manga that isnt geting translated and is going slow. but i looked at a few groups, and one just hit me as a big problem, ill give the details. they have 21 manga that are being translated at the moment, have 4 translaters, and can barely releace something once a week. that is devided up between 21 manga, 4 of which i download on sight, the others are when ever i am board. but is roughly comes out to once ever 20 days somethiong i want to read comes out.
now this is the thing, with 4 translaters i would expect at least a once a week from any of them. i mean i have no life and if i knew the language and how to look things i dont know up, i could make a releace a day, probably more depending on the mangas content, and once every 2 days for something that i explain references to. now i know that even when i had school i could managge a good hour, hour in a half a day at least where i just did nothing. not if i look at it this way where each translater has at least an hour a day to work, that would be 7 hours.
now i have to imagin a translater (if you can call your self that) can somewhat fluently read the language, so even a rough translation should only take about an hour, agein depending on the content of the manga.
here is an example, lucky star, the manga, take a look at its releacees, not at when they came out but how long it has taken in general.
even beter example is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, the manga version, translation started on 12/06/06 and right now they are only up to chapter 11,
and now lets all look to, one piece, which on chapter 488 had 4 people put it out on 02/08/08 and one on 02/09/08...
i probalby said enough for a while
i find it harder and harder to start reading manga, because all the well known good ones im already either reading, have read, is on hold, or isnt translated. and its not because the mangas are bad, its just its hard to hit the start up mark, its usualy, with a manga, the first 5 chapters, and if its a long one it could be within the first few volumes. its the point of where the manga picks up speed amnd draws you further in so it makes it hard to put down.
when a manga is doen right it becomes realy hard to put down, such as ah my goddess or berserk, both of which when i found them, got me to basicly pull all nighters to read the first time through, and i actively read it.
than there are manga that i can read in short bursts because that is how they were ment to be read, like ranma 1/2.
than there are manga that i pick up and put down every now and than because for some reason i cand sit my ass down and read the whole thing through. most of those are areound depressing moments in a manga, sometimes shock moments, and the "aw shit" moments (also known as the you dumb ass moments) when not in a comedy manga
for any number of reasons its hard to pick up titals, and this is the same for anime, however to a lesser extent, usualy the first or second episode draws me in and than i watch till the last 2 or 3 episodes because fillier ends are just painfull to watch
why is it good manga always lags in good translations, ant im not talking about generic shonen shit that takes forever to finish, that crap is usualy UP TO FUCKING DATE, but lets say a good manga that came out in 2002 and has maby 5 volumes and its finished, usualy tends to have 1 volume at most translated and if it is still being translated, it comes out once every 1 maby 2 months.
kind of pisses me off cause it has nearly 5 years to translate, and it still isnt done. now i could learn japaniese if i tried, hell wouldent even be all to hard, but i want to learn the kanji and that is a whole nother bitch entirely.
i think i got a bit of topic someware but o well
