Finally decided to track the order I'm finishing anime entries in. This is as much for myself as anything. I'll also keep track of whether I'm watching more subbed or dubbed shows at any given time and my initial rating. So, starting with #400, here goes.

To see how I rank all the series I've watched, check this list out.
I have comments posted for almost all my anime list entries, so feel free to click on "more" after the show title and read away. ^_^

I've been an anime fan since the summer of '05, when my family finally persuaded me to watch Hunter x Hunter. I'm very glad they were so persistent.

Since then, I went through a few years of devouring the anime collection at our local Video Library (they had 100s of titles) up until they went out of business. =( Though it may very well have been Netflix that ousted them, we've since subscribed to that anime attainment method, and also frequent Hulu and CR. My current health situation leaves me with a lot of time on my hands, so I tend to marathon things. I much prefer that to waiting on weekly shows as they air, though there are exceptions i.e. One Piece.

For the record, I think Legend of the Galactic Heroes is one of the best stories of all time. You can quote me on that.

How I Rate Things:
10: as good as it gets. see LOGH.
9: stellar. delivers what it means to and is nearly flawless.
8: very good. memorable and well-made.
7: sufficiently enjoyable. my first "solid" rating.
6: ok, but nothing special. probably forgettable with significant flaws.
5: not really worth the time I spent watching it.
4: bad. just, bad. likely bailed partway.
3. horrible. almost certainly didn't finish watching it.
2. awful. nowhere near finished watching it.
1. wow. how could something this horrendous get made?!!?!?!

Personal All-Time Highs:
  • 191 episodes, Oct. 25-31, 2012*
  • 163 episodes, Mar. 25-31, 2011
  • 149 episodes, Oct. 7-13, 2012
  • 137 episodes, Apr. 17-23, 2010*

* part of my 18 day 400+ One Piece marathon to get to the 560s. stuff got real. O_O
* includes 131 episodes of Major, plus the Movie. Amazing series!! So much more than just a sports anime. Watch it!!

********

I have a keen interest in music, being a former violinist, pianist and vocalist, so the musical score in a series plays a large role in my enjoying it. Orchestral music is what I lean toward, but my tastes range from classical to jazz to rock, and beyond. I would have loved to be a full-time professional musician, performing and composing, but so would millions of other people, many of which had much more time to devote to that pursuit than I did. I played at weddings, funerals, sports meets and cultural festivals, and gradually my deep-seated dread of playing in public lessened.

Do you play any instruments? I'd love to hear about it. ^_^

Also, feel free to check out my Saiyuki fanfiction here. =)

*** The wonderful Shishou is to be thanked for my beautiful list designs. XD ***
