K-on!! is an intense psychological thriller involving an all female band and their experiences in the hard rock lifestyle. It is a beautifully filth stricken and maddening dive into sex, drugs, and rock and roll! The Main Character of K-On!! is Yui. She is an optimistic girl with dreams and aspirations of becoming a rock and roll singer. She starts a collaboration with drug induced Bassist Mio, who's pratfalls in life she blames on society, a hip young lesbian drummer Ritsu, who longs for the 60's, and of course the ever popular village bicycle, Tsumugi on keybords!

The show begins in a bit of a predicament as none of them know how to play their instruments quite well. This is when Mio brings fourth the brilliant idea of summoning Satan from the pits of hell to grant them all the power of rock Gods in exchange for their souls. Ritsu, being the devil worshiping Antichrist she is, is all for it and Tsumugi doesn't mind as long as they serve beer in hell. Yui however, shows signs throughout the entire series of fear and paranoia of this event which is just the start of her human psyche breaking down.
As the show progresses we see the band fine tuning their sound for their first big gig. They come into their first show all dressed up in their rock attire. Mio is sporting a bondage look with a gimp mask, a bulldog necklace, and studded clothing. Tsumugi decides to go for innocent school girl with a blouse and skirt 2 sizes too small like the size of her heart. Ritsu wears a tie dye hair band with pot leaves sticking off to one end and sports a Beatles t-shirt. Yui goes for otaku madness with a hello kitty backpack and school clothes resembling that of Haruhi Suzamiya. They manage to unleash a powerful orgasmic song into the audience's ears which lead into their deadly spiral towards fame.

The band goes on a tour thats headed straight for disaster. Ritsu has a fling with Tsumugi. Tsumugi has a fling with the sound boy. The sound boy has a fling with a cat. The band constantly indulges itself in drugs and alcohol to the point where the band loses all grip of reality. Mio is acting depressed because she's only a bassist and we all know, no one cares about the bassist of a band. She is constantly fighting with Yui. Mio wants to switch over to emo music and Yui is siding with Ritsu on doing 20 minute long Grateful Dead cover songs. Mio wants to kill herself but Tsumugi is constantly saving her life because she fears Mio wouldn't like hell. The two develop a strong relationship as they go into intense psychological contemplations about life and the afterlife. Yui is hitting the bottle hard because she is pressured by her fans and satan, and Ritsu is overdosing on drugs that couldn't even be found in Tijuana, Mexico.

This all leads to the brutal and devastating end when they all gather for the final concert of the season. Everyone is doped out of their minds on stage and are all hanging on to the bitter end of life. That's when, during the middle of the concert, Yui here's the words, "Free Bird" during the middle of the concert which causes her to come to an awe inspiring revelation. She halts the band immediately and plays out a glorious speech. She says that ever since they started they've been living destructively. They are like caged birds who desperately need to be let out. She gets emotional how she speaks to the band of how she misses the good times and how it's about time to set her own caged birds free. She then walks through the crowd and continues strolling down the road and into the sunset.

The rest of the band revert back to normal again through some intense electroshock therapy, and a year's worth of rehab. The final shot is of the three, glaring out into the sunset as they reflect back on Yui's powerful words and the lesson they learned through the epic experience.

What's the moral of the story? Don't review an anime until you know where the damn thing is going!

Hey there. My name is Brendan and I'm 17 years old. I created, sold and still actively develop my profile on MyAnimeList.net. I live in Northern Nevada and work full time for a web development company in Reno (web company is not affiliated with MAL profile).

I started watching Anime sometime in 2008. I had watched DBZ hundreds of times in the past, but it didn't really interest me. A friend of mine showed me Death Note one day though...and that was it for me. I was hooked. Soon after Jigoku Shoujo came into the picture and from then on, there was no turning back. :)

A little bit of information about my birth. It started back in November, 1992. All code, design, and images are done by yours truly. There are no other developers except my parents. In the beginning, I was using my personal website, the womb. After about a few months (at this time there were only about 5 days left), I decided I wanted to expand the user base. So, the only practical way I could think to accomplish this was: tearing through my mother. I bought My life and ported everything over (march 1993 I was officially moved over). Since then I've met a huge influx of new people. I'm loving the community that is growing here and I hope everyone joins in on the fun. :)

Don't be afraid to drop a comment and say hi. I try to respond to all messages and comments with pessismism and dismay ; )
