Watch the grass grow, sitting on a stone throne
Death to the cold, corroding his old bones
Lived to see it all gone, backwards he goes - getting so old
Can't ignore what's alive, swallow him whole
Blackhole, anguish is a living manifestation of his soul
Growing hatred owning his own shadow, "leave me alone"
Slicing her flesh makes her less desperate, left breathless
By the guest in her own body, guess what's left?
Nothing but a depthless feeling of restlessness.

Tails: The Court of Kings - Prologue Part I (Alpha)

[center]Hello, to whomever may be reading this. Today, I've put together an "alpha" for my upcoming novel "Tails: The Court of Kings". This "alpha" is a one-shot, designed to give anybody who may be interested a taste of what is to come in my soon-to-be published novel.
Keep in mind, this is not the full-quality of my writing. Just a one-shot. Without further ado, enjoy Prologue - Part I (Alpha), of Tails: The Court of Kings.
Prologue - Part I (Alpha)
The light of the full-moon filtered through the heavy foliage and treetops, but the light could barely be made-out through the heavy midnight fog that plagued the mountains. The forest was silent, save for the crackling of the campfire that illuminated the area dimly around a lonesome man. He sat, eerily silent, on his makeshift bedding next to the slowly deteriorating fireplace. Although the upper-sky was clear, the atmosphere felt like it could start pouring rain at any moment. The man wore clothes, but they were tattered and torn from trekking through the harsh Shortland Forests. His frosty breath shuddered as he shivered uncomfortably, before he bunched himself into a ball, and shifted into a foetal position.
“Curses!” He spat, bitterly.
His mind flashed to the lavishes of his nobleman home in the city. His velvet king-sized bed. His servants. His full-course meals, served by the finest chefs in ********. But that was no more. The man cringed at the thought of what could be to come. All but suddenly, as if on cue, there was a piercing bark in the forest, roughly 100 meters in the forest behind him. The man shot up violently.
“Terror-Hounds! They’ve found me already!?” The man sounded exasperated, desperate even.
He quickly snuffed the miserable embers that remained of his fireplace, before collecting his things. He had to run. And he had to run now.
