A Guide to the Canon & Fanon Pairings of Strawberry Panic
Anime Relations: Strawberry Panic

WARNING WARNING SPOILERS FOR BASICALLY EVERY ASPECT OF THE STRAWBERRY PANIC ANIME, MANGA AND LIGHT NOVELS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
So, I put a new wallpaper on my desktop yesterday. It's a strawberry panic one with the main 4 girls from each school laying in a circle (oval?) together. It's really cute, and I always find myself putting all the girls together in my head whenever I see it. SO I got an idea- put I guide to ALL the SP ships in one blog. Why would I take the time to do this, you ask? Well it's simple: I'm just really bored.
With all that out of the way, time to get started!
NOTE: I'm not putting a ship in that already has a character in a different ship; this guide is for how each character is (or could be) with another character ONCE. Ex. Putting Hikari with Yaya when Hikari is already with Amane, etc. However, I will put a list of said ships at the bottom
~Legend~
Pairings in bold are my personal favourites.
Pairings in italics are my least favourite ones.
CANON means a ship that is in the series officially (Ex. Kaname/Momomi)
FANON means a ship that is not in the series or lightly implied, but never acted on. The fans are normally the creators of these ships (Ex. Kagome/Chiyo)
COPY SHIP means a ship that already has a character in either canon or fanon (Ex. Nagisa/Tamao). This is just something I came up with to label these ships.
THE CANON SHIPS
1. Shizuma Hanazono X Aoi Nagisa
I am probably one of the few people who actually prefer Nagisa with Shizuma than with Tamao. Granted, I like both pairings very much, I just find that their is more of a spark between Nagisa and Shizuma than Nagisa and Tamao. This is the main couple of the series, and also includes two of the four main girls of St. Miator Girls Academy. This pairing basically revolves around the Kaori incident (see, Kaori X Shizuma in Copy Ships) and is really Shizuma's way of finding her true love all over again.
2. Konohana Hikari X Ootori Amane
How can I say anything good about my least favourite SP pairing and my two least favourite characters? First off, they are exact copies of the oh-so-overused generic "ultra moe lesbian girl" and the "overly manly lesbian girl" that is often seen in Yuri/Shoujo-Ai series.The two have absolutely NO personality, but it seems that every girl in the series either loves or admires them (see Yaya X Hikari, Kaname X Amane, Hikari X Tsubomi, etc) Also, the couple suddenly get sugar coated with angst (as if their wasn't enough in N/S) near the end of the series when Amane falls off a horse and loses her memory temporarily. But in the end, they end up fucking by the second last episode, and are one of the few couples we actually see do it (well, little snippets of it at least-REMEMBER, this isn't flat out yuri hent.). They are the main couple of Spica Girls Institute, and two of the four main girls of Spica.
3. Hyuuga Kizuna X Natsume Remon
Ah, Kizuna and Remon. They are (in my opinion) the most adorable couple in the series, but sadly, aren't that developed as characters (sadly, neither is most of the Lulim girls) or canon. And just a note for those who are wondering, they ARE canon because of that little kiss in episode 15 so THERE'S YOUR PROOF. Anyways I've always found these two very cute and funny, and the way Remon gets jealous whenever Kagome tries to get in their space just makes me d'awww. The best thing about this couple, though, is how they are probably the only pair in the canon that don't have some kind of dramatic angst craze, which is a very refreshing thing when you compare them to the other 3 canons. They could be thought of as the main couple of Lulim Girls School and are two of the four girls of Lulim (the four girls are the only girls from Lulim, by the way).
4. Kiyashiki Momomi X Kenjo Kaname
AKA the bitches pseudo-antagonists of the series, Momomi and Kaname are my guilty pleasure in the SP shipping realm. I constantly find myself making up countless fanfics for these two in my head, as their is so much to explore with them. How they got together, why their kind of bitchy not very nice, the list could go on and on with me at the keyboard. I find them a really awesome pair, especially since they're all "hell yeah, we're mean lesbians. AWESOME RIGHT?!" They also get their own little angst fest (courtesy of AMANE pfft) but that was easily cleared up by Momomi with the help of a bitch slap to Kaname's face, so all's well that ends well. Interestingly enough, they could be described as the second generic yuri couple of the series, but with an awesome twist; the moe-ish girl is the seme (yes, I know, this is Yaoi lingo. Don't hate me for using it with yuri coupling please) and Kaname is the uke. And that's why they are my favourite canon pair of SP. They are two of the three supporting characters of Spica Girls Institute, and are also the ones that we see do it the most (and in the bath, no less).
THE FANON SHIPS
1. Minamoto Chikaru X Tomori Shion
My OTP (one true pairing) in SP. What can I say? I love this ship to death. It makes so much sense, yet isn't even as much as implied in the Anime, Manga or Light Novels. They look absolutely perfect together, and I know that Chikaru deserves someone. The whole Lulim cast just felt so out of the loop and unloved in the series, so I think that they all deserve their special someone. As for Shion, I love her. She is probably my favourite character in the whole series, which will probably come off as quite a surprise to most who are reading this. Of course, there's a lot more to go on than just looking good together and putting my two favourite characters together, meaning they actually know each other outside the Student Council and are childhood friends. Chikaru even calls Shion "Shion-Chan" and Shion doesn't even use a honorific, just calling her "President Chikaru" in the manga. Also, it seems as though Shion knows exactly how Chikaru acts, and knows what could be coming, as seen in the manga, when Chikaru is trying to make it seem like Lulim has something "up their sleeve", Shion just shrugs it off with a knowing sigh. PLUS Shion always gets a bit flustered whenever Chikaru does something devious. OK IMMA STOP TALKING NOW BEFORE I WRITE A WHOLE NOVEL ON THESE TWO.
