I was just stumbling around AD when i found these wise words:

Phendrus said:
Of all the topics to stumble across this afternoon, I actually got an interesting one. Well, here goes!

Note: I'm often going to substitute fiction in general for anime, but everything I say about the one applies to the other.

TL;DR: Read the flippin' post

To the people who say that the real world is better than anime:
You're probably aware of this, but different people like different things. There's nothing wrong with the fact that I dislike sports, don't care for parties, find current events in the world depressing, and generally feel more at ease when I'm on my own. Some people just aren't energetic extroverts. Finding anime/fiction more entertaining than social functions isn't a bad thing. Like I said, you're probably already aware of that, but I just wanted to make sure that was clear before I moved on to the next topic...

To the people who say that anime is better than the real world:
If you had said the same thing a year ago, I would have agreed with you. It occurred to me around that time that one reason I liked fiction (including anime) so much was because nothing truly interesting happened in the real world, apart from depressing stuff I wanted no part in.

Then, somewhat recently, it occurred to me that there IS something incredibly interesting about the real world: fiction. Fiction isn't some mystical thing that exists outside of reality: It's dreamed up, brought to life, and experienced in the real world. New fiction is always being created, people are constantly discovering new sources of it, and fans are perpetually discussing it.

In short, you're looking at it the wrong way. Anime is not better than the real world. Anime is simply the part of the real world that you love the most. You see the creativity, humor, intrigue, romance, beauty, mystery, etc. in anime and relish it.

The great thing is, you're not the only one. There's an entire subsystem of the world revolving around fiction/anime. You have people who spend most of their free time dreaming up dazzling ideas and bringing them to life in books, anime, video games, manga, and so forth. You have people who dive into the stories created through these media, then discuss these amazing stories and worlds with other, equally enthusiastic people. You even have people in the latter camp who become so passionate about fiction that they start making their own.

Politics, school, work, and so forth may be boring/depressing/frustrating, but fiction makes this world so bloody fantastic!

Personally, my two favorite activities are consuming fiction and creating fiction. I live and breath fiction. It is to me what drawing/history/sports/whatever is to other passionate individuals, and I love discussing it with those who have similar tastes. There's nothing quite like finding someone who loves the same things you do, regardless of whether it's anime, sports, history, cooking, or cars.

As I said, I only came to this realization recently. I'm still clawing my way out of my cave and starting to see how much fun it is to discuss anime, video games, books, etc. with other people. I'll admit, it's not easy, but now that I'm making the first steps, I'm determined not to go back, no matter how nervous I get.

I encourage anyone else who feels that fiction is better than reality to consider the same thing: Fiction is a part of reality, and it's an incredible part. Seek out others who relish the wonders of anime. Revel together in the stories, the characters, the art, the feels, the magic. It may not be easy, but once you make the transition, it's an absolutely thrilling experience.

READ WHILE LISTENING TO THIS:

On March 28th of 2016, KINGUBERMENSCH became a man.

He now had the power to vote, sign his own documents, legally live on his own and all the other powers that comes with adulthood.

Now this may seem like a childish rant to those who've already gained the power of adulthood, but too one who has had to suffer the chains of childhood, to suffer the feeling of being looked down upon for your age, this moment was a momentous occasion.

It signaled the start of a new era, an era of fear, struggle, and pain.

But also one of Freedom, Resolve, and Bliss.

But with newfound power and confidence comes great responsibility and envy.

It is not a power to be used lightly.

The man's parents were the only obstacle standing in the way to true Freedom

The man was begged by his parents to not pursue his dreams out of fear of losing their dear child.

The man and his mother clashed, the mother making attacks not on his person, but on his beliefs and tried to impose her own on the man.

But the man never wavered or lost his temper.

He stood like an boulder against the raging tides.

But the man was'nt heartless

There were times when he felt guilt for causing his parents pain.

But he refused to let his parents or their feeling bind him anymore.

He knew that staying within one's parents hold and relying on it was not the way a man should live.

A man should be free to pursue his dreams and beliefs, have the resolve to pursue them until the end, and the wisdom to navigate the path of adulthood properly.

Fear is Freedom
Subjugation is Liberation
Contradiction is Truth

The man knew those were the facts of this world.

If one does not know Fear, how can they know Freedom?
If one does not know Subjugation, how can they know Liberation?
If one does not know Contradiction, how can they know Truth?

Right now, he is calmly preparing for the day when he will leave his parent's home.

He is working out his body, learning how to drive, and trying to learn about the world of Adults.

HE will not let the values of the masses put him to shame or shackle him!!

JUST WHO THE HELL DO THINK I AM!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I AM KINGUBERMENSCH, A MAN WHO PRESSES ONWARD DESPITE FEAR!!

AND ONE DAY I WILL BECOME A MAN WHOSE EXAMPLE WILL INSPIRE OTHERS TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS!!!

THAT IS AN UBERMENSCH!!

NOW GO OUT AND BECOME GREAT READER!!!

SURPASS YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
