Anime Relations: Death Note
Some people love to say how "deep, dark, plot-driven" Anime are compared to western cartoons like Ed Edd N Eddy and Family Guy.... That may be true, but that's a stupid argument that doesn't really make much sense.
Western cartoons are mostly episodic (Tom and Jerry, KOTH, EENE, etc.) and revolve around comedy and random situations that can be solved within a 20 minute time-frame. If this isn't the taste of others, I can understand, though comparing it to a whole different demographic of cartoons, is silly.
Some Anime are serious, some are silly, some are just there, etc. Both are made from different cultures with different ideologies on certain issues and ideals. You can't compare something like South Park to Death Note, as there both completely different demographics. Though at the same time, you can't compare shows like Family Guy to Looney Tunes, or Another to Lucky Star. They're completely different genres.
