Recently I've noticed that I've been rating my series awfully high. Examples:

  • Love Live S1 - 8
  • Saekano - 8

Unfinished but prediction:

  • Oregairu 2 - 9
  • Shirobako - 10
  • Hibike - 9/10

Am I handing out high scores too easily? I don't think so. My justification is that I only choose to watch high quality series now. Given the limited amount of time I have, there's no point wasting it on mediocre or average series once it's identified as such.

If I enjoy watching it, then I will watch it. But there is no point finishing something just for the sake of it.

10 - Masterpiece : One of a kind, life changers, true epics.

9 - Excellent : Extremely memorable, breathtaking amazing series, flawed Masterpieces.

8 - Fabulous : Memorable, beyond enjoyable.

7 - Good : Average, enjoyable guilty pleasure, nothing special in particular to note.

6 - Average : Guilty pleasure, started decent but became meh, nothing to miss out on.

5 - Pretty terrible, but I got the smallest of something out of it.

4 - Terrible: I wish I never watched this.

3 - Horrible : I hate myself.

2 - M: The pain

After Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, I felt I needed to make a better distinction between the series I rated 9/10. Because I choose to leave 10s for only true Masterpieces, 9s are a mix of series that are either missing something to prevent a true perfection, or a very memorable series that deserves more then an 8 (A great series.)

Tiers will be updated as 9s are given.

Top Tier (Just short of perfection)
  • Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
  • Clannad
  • Clannad Tomoyo Chapter
  • Sora no Woto

Mid Tier : (The true 9s)
  • Higashi no Eden
  • K-on!!
  • Shakugan no Shana
  • Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Low Tier : (Amazing at the time, but unsure if it truly deserves the score)
  • Baka Test
  • Lucky Star
  • Tsumiki no Ie
