2002-nen Halmeoni Ondo

found randomly as one of the first handful of results on the first page of the type music anime search section on MAL

Winner of the 1965 Oofuji Noburou Award.

Seriously why
Why on earth would this garbage win any award at all though?! Seriously!!

Also according to a comment on YouTube that was verified by MAL, the weird woman you constantly hear sexually moaning throughout almost over half of the film is Yoko Ono what the fuck man

Kaze no Matasaburou

I found this very blindly on here:
It's the first one I clicked on.

It's seriously adorable!!! It kind of reminds me of Winnie the Pooh mixed in with some Ghibli... but all in all very original concept! I really like it!! I kind of wish it was longer

I watched the first and third episode with auto-translation English subtitles on YouTube, and the second episode completely raw because there was no auto-translate for some reason... Anyway, that, mixed with my actual Japanese language skills, I was pretty much able to understand what was going on for the most part. I knew the girl was moving... The guy had a great time seeing the snow festival... I pretty much watched this raw really, but also not really lol Auto-translate on YouTube is seriously really bad though lol

Negima!? Haru Special!?

I'm watching this dubbed, because I'm basically forced to, right?

And you know what? The dub for this anime really isn't half bad! I think I'll watch this one dubbed.. Also I completely forgot how absolutely adorable their school uniforms were!!!

Bounty Dog: Getsumen no Ibu: Episode 1

Episode 1:
Episode 2:

I found this anime using this list:

And this was the first one on the list that was 2 episodes, fit the criteria of the MAL Anime Watching Challenge, and wasn't Hentai.

This was actually pretty interesting... It's kind of a shame that it never got to have a main series adaptation... I was so tempted to watch the main series now, only to learn it doesn't even exist :(

Randomly in the middle of watching this I just thought huh since I'm starting to notice a theme for me is that if I enjoy watching the OVA of a (possible) main series of an anime, maybe I should watch the OVA for Code Geass, if it even exists and if so was made public though... Because Code Geass is an anime I've wanted to watch for the longest time, but never really got around to doing... Could also be because I should probably watch it dubbed. But still, but still.

I don't know why, but I'm not really a big fan of art or animation when it comes to today's anime standards for some reason... For me, it's almost like anime pretty much peaked in the 90s to 2009, then the quality dropped tremendously after that... Even with the Narutoverse and such. I like the... I don't know, simplicity of the art and animation from the 90s to 2009. Even in those years, the anime openings were all A1 too tbh.

But I don't know. It could also be because I grew up with a curated list of anime on On Demand with the channel literally called "The Anime Network", so I probably only really was exposed to the good anime back then... I don't know.

It's cool this OVA at least got the budget to be dubbed though!

I also really liked the opening sequence for this too!! The OP is catchy~ And the anime kind of reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. Anyway here are the YouTube comments, because I was watching this on YouTube:

I dislike this movie, but I really dig the opening song. It kind of reminds me of the Escaflowne ED, and I'm a sucker for that funky, soulful low bass.

Phil Hartwell
At least halfway through I'm finding a lot to like... setting, music, motion, concept... I've been less entertained by things... Inez looks like Armitage the Third

Adding depth to the plot was a failure.

How does it rain on the moon?

Bounty Dog: Getsumen no Ibu: Episode 2

Yeaaaaah but episode 2 is pretty much a fucking trainwreck though where nothing even makes sense anymore

They should have just stopped at the first episode tbh

But I guess because this is an original source, that's probably why it required two OVA to be considered to become a main series, which never happened. Welp. Oh well.

I still don't really understand the hate for the first episode of this though.

Yeah now this is just flat out boring.

omg this is sooo boring!! also there's pretty much no story here so seriously everyone and everything is literally all over the place or something I hate it. I absolutely hate it. I abhor it really.

Honestly this kind of felt like the creator was inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop somehow. But the creator didn't necessarily copy it. It was more like an original concept, but it still didn't make any sense. But original yeah!

That's about an hour of my life I'm never getting back :/ :( :( :( :( :( :/

The ending sequence is kind of nice though (I think this was the opening sequence in the first episode though, right?)

Let's see...
Four Pillars of Anime are art and animation, characters, story, and sound.

Art and Animation: I've got to say. I really partial to and really love this art style of the 90s so a straight +10/10 here

Characters: I find all the characters' names incredibly annoying... Also I hate all of them kind of to a certain extent and I can't really remember any of them sooo like a +1/10 and the 1 point is because the main character seems a little likable to me idk

Sound: Sound is really cool here. Very atmospheric. But nothing entirely rememberable or to be hyped up about. +8/10

10 + 1 + 0 + 8 = 19
19/40 = 0.475 = 47.5%
47.5% * 10 = 0.475 * 10 = 4.75

I disliked this, so I'm rounding down to a 4.

I'm not for the weird narrations that open and end Bounty Dog and there are some other things I don't like, but I like a lot of it.
I like the poetic, tragic story and the art was good, and it was a breath of fresh air to see the police and other officials be competent and not super rash.
