Precursor: This is more for myself than anyone else. I love anime films and there's too much coming up to easily keep track of what I like and want to keep a watch of (looking it, I'm starting to think we're in some sort of industry golden age for ani films in my opinion. From the increasing amount of high budget feature-length hits we've had in these last few years and looking at the increasing amount coming.. And then all the new directors making a name for themselves and being able to continually produce films in a cycle such as Hosoda...).

Description: "The story centers on the relationship between Hinako, who has moved to a coastal town upon entering university and Minato, a young firefighter with a strong sense of justice. Hinako loves surfing and while fearless on the sea, she's still uncertain about her future. Following a fire mishap in the town, Hinako and Minato encounter each other. As they spend more time surfing together, Hinako feels drawn to Minato, who dedicates himself to help others."
Yuasa has said that the film will have "a lot of exciting scenes" with "contrasting elements of water and fire" and that he did not create Lu Over the Wall as a love story, so he decided to make this one a love story. On it, he's stated the following "A "certain element" of the new film is related to the story of Lu Over the Wall. The new film can be enjoyed by people a little bit older than the very young Lu. The two main characters of the new film start going out together, but have lots of secrets.
And finally that "Minato wishes her life could go a little more smoothly. Whether it's in work or in life, we often feel like we're "riding a wave." The phrase "good conditions" ties into that, but waves don't bend to our desires. We pick our waves and try to ride it. Flow with it. We don't know if that wave is going to take us where we want to go until we're done riding it. You can think all you want, but you won't know until you try. In this tough world, it's about choosing the best wave you can. I wanted to take a character who's pure and let them surf."

- How Do You Live?
Pssssht... don't tell anyone but this is really just the novel cover..
Description: Based on Genzaburo Yoshino‘s 1937 novel of the same name, How Do You Live? is a fantasy adventure film that centers around a 15-year-old boy named Koperu, who moves into his uncle’s house after his father’s death and undergoes a journey of spiritual growth.
Miyazaki started on this in July 2016 and it was yet another project that brought him out of his "retirement". Given that he had to do that yet again, and revive Studio Ghibli (since most of the staff had understandably left for new endevours what with him retired and Takahata passing) by giving out a bunch of 3 year contracts, I think it's save to say he's passionate about this project. That, or he just really doesn't feel comfortable not working... it's probably a mix of both.
"Toshio Suzuki revealed that Miyazaki is working on the film for his grandson as his way of saying "Grandpa is moving onto the next world soon but he is leaving this film behind because he loves you"
Genres: Epic, Fantasy, Action
Studio: Ghibli
Announced Staff:
- Director - Hayao Miyazaki (...)
- Producer - Toshio Suzuki (Producer for Princess Mononoke, Howl, Ponyo, Spirited Away, Angel's Egg, Wind Rises. The man Ghibli could not be without.)

Description: A sequel to the old, cult hit Gainax classic "Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise" set 20 years in the future, produced with a few of the same core staff and the same creator/director. Has been riddled with production issues and barriers (mainly financial) ever since 1992, but, as it seems, now over 20 years later the director is still very passionate about making this a thing. And that's exciting. He hasn't given up and neither should we! Clearly he has faith in his idea. Yes.
Genres: Sci-Fi, Military, Space
Studio: Gaina
Announced Staff:
- Director, Screenplay - Hiroyuki Yamaga (co-founder of Gainax, director of Royal Space Force, executive producer of FLCL)

A few of the novel covers is all we have right now.

The story of Chimera follows Kou Ohtori, an average high school student who experiences a recurring nightmare of being eaten alive by a beast from within. He finds himself dragged into a strange and conspiratorial world when he discovers his body is not entirely human.

- To The Moon
Only some material from the games.
Description: An adaptation of a wildly successful and accalimed 2D/RPG indie game from Freebird Games. That game is described as "A story-driven experience about two doctors traversing backwards through a dying man's memories to artificially fulfill his last wish.", and it is known to cause violent sobbing and severe emotional distress in it's players, with all of them muttering the same thing in a broken mess after completing it... That it was "beautiful". The project was announced by one very excited and grateful developer on YouTube last year, who stated the budget for the film, thanks to some Chinese investors, was larger than even that of Your Name. He also stated that it was being produced by a very well known studio and that it WAS being produced largely in Japan.

- Zero Seiki Movie Trilogy (1: Emeraldas, 2: Herlock, 3: Maetel)
