Aldnoah S2 Parody Review: What Was & Was Not

**A TRUE REVIEW; THIS IS MY FACTUAL OPINION OF THE SHOW. IT WILL UPDATED SHORTLY AFTER COMPLETION**

Hello, internet people of MyAnimeList. Today I, Daniel Antonio Rowletta, have come to correct many of the misconceptions that those discussing Aldnoah Zero R2 display with their disgusting usage of logic; the sort of which I have not seen plague the internet since the 4chan 'Spinzaku' farce. Much of the erroneous criticism is built around the return/revival of the series' lead, Gary Inahoe. But no-one seems able to comprehend the truth and the abundant richness of depth hiding behind his stoic heroics and instinctive ability to defeat magic robots that annihilate the rest of the human race... on his own, in a training robot. Even the revelation that he has a cybernetic eye has seemingly yet to help others understand what is now an indisputable fact: Gary Inahoe is a cyborg sent from the future, with the mission to save humanity from the Martian Space Nazis. If he was not sent, then the human race would perish in the face of humanity's multifaceted nemesis race, lead by Slaine's dastardly inconsistency.

Let us, you and I, briefly travel back in time together, to the first season of an anime that does what no anime has done before it: a robot space war between two halves of humanity, with half wearing red-gold uniforms. When Gary shot down Slaine's "bat", he described Slaine as his enemy. Why? Because he already knew of the future horrors Slaine's continued existence would bring. So, he attempted to put history on the right path by seemingly randomly shooting him down into the ocean; assuming he couldn't swim. Another part of his mission from the future was to NTR Slaine by seducing Princess Moe via distant emotionlessness so as to not allow his reign of tyranny to extend through marriage. Gary thought he had achieved both goals but, ultimately, history remained unchanged as a consequence of Slaine's swimming ability. In fact, Gary only managed to earn Slaine's resentment and narrowly avoided the chip in his brain being destroyed by predicting the trajectory of the bullet fired into his head at point blank range by tilting his head at the very last moment, which any discerning viewer should have noticed on first viewing. The only change to history was Princess Moe being replaced by her never before mentioned half-sister, which the time continuum created so as not to create a divergence.

The most glaring error people are making is the assumption that Gary's eye is a replacement. This is simply not true and it baffles me how such ignorance can be left unchecked by others that are able to perceive the truth with as much clarity as I can. In the first season, in almost every episode, we saw Gary display an otherwise inexplicable knowledge that allowed him - a mere school kid - to pinpoint weaknesses of magic robots piloted by Space Nazis that even experienced military personnel were rendered helpless against. Incorrectly, the baseless accusation was made that Gary was wrote without a back-story beyond having a pretend older sister and existed solely to be surrounded by a harem of females so male viewers could feel empowered by his lack of personality as he did the impossible by winning against the unwinnable. But, honestly, if you look deep inside yourself and consider, if only for a moment, how else do you think Gary would be able to determine weaknesses and win? A two-episode writer of the caliber of Uromuchi would never leave such glaring holes. It's obvious as obvious can be for a learned individual, such as myself: he already had the data included on his internal hard-drive and, with the aid of his cybernetic eyes that can adjust trajectory for tornadoes in space on the fly, there was never any doubt of his victory. But, sadly, Slaine's existence is one which is protected by the time continuum and, even with Gary's data, he has as of yet only been able to adjust the timeline superficially.

I hope this review-explanation has helped you - my readers - comprehend Gary Inahoe's characterisation. In summary, it's not that he has no personality or is made superficially perfect to appease otaku: he is canonically a cybernetic organism. In addition, in my honest opinion, Aldnoah R2 is the best anime since Code Geass R2, and I can say that with my hand over my beating heart. It is a homage to The Terminator, blended masterfully with Code Geass R2's writing (which allowed for the series to be rebooted whilst retaining the exact same twists that came before; taken to new extremes.) The craft that went into restarting Aldnoah after such a climatic finale leaves me in awe. Code Geass R2 certainly impressed me, after waiting for a year or so, but Aldnoah R2 is so much more thoughtful and giving. I'm even struggling to convey my joy through typed words. By the end, when Gary's origin is revealed and Slaine's reign of future terror is prevented, I'm positive I will be left in tears, having received more than I ever hoped for. At first I was only watching for episodic robot death-battles, paired with Sawano's oddly reminiscent musical creativity, but now I can barely hold my excitement within over how far the link between it, The Terminator and Code Geass R2 stretches.

Let me end up with a quote, by someone: "Wait, and hold out hope." If you do so, by the end, I assure you, you will be blown away by the depth of the writing hidden behind a shallow facade. Do not doubt: expect. Do not think: feel. Only then will you find the true path, after spending time with the school girl support cast as they interact in their swimsuits. That is the true path.

I was fully intending to come on tonight in order to update my Aldnoah 'review' (/Gary Inahoe = CYBORG, fyi). I had already edited the disclaimer at the top (the image below is week old; last I checked, the stats being 167/427... after -40) to say I would be updating it SHORTLY after completion. But I noticed a few hours ago it had been deleted, and a generic moderator private message awaited confirming it. Joy.

I WAS going to do it yesterday (although I thought it ended today...), but then I noticed almost immediately after completion my social experiment of sorts had finally borne fruit: 40ish down-votes in ONE DAY, because - I assume - no-one on this site can read, saw 10/10 when everyone else was 4/10ing post-completion, and that was that. It pissed me off, as you might expect. So, I waited a day. Then the double-whammy of deletion. My motivation dropped to zero, there and then. I could just re-post it, yeah, but considering that most people on MAL vote before reading, don't read anything longer than a few sentences and/or require an 'overrated isn't bad, ok!?' moron disclaimer, fuck it. I'm sorry but the idiocy of some of the 9-10/10 art/animation Parasyte reviews that are highly rated, combined with this Aldnoah fuckery, means..... NO. Just no.

Honestly, I didn't expect anyone to enjoy reading it and see the funny side. But I got lots of messages and a half-arsed joke made people laugh. I really appreciated that people were dropping by to say they got a giggle out of it. So, even though originally I wasn't going to update it heavily, if at all, as I watched the series I kept making notes for later use. I was going to expand on the Gary Inahoe / Terminator light trolling, whilst covering S2 itself by doing a section on 'Blame Tryhard' / Slaine. I'll post the notes just so they don't go to complete waste, as random and retarded as they mostly are. Who knows: some I might have actually used! Shame I didn't add more for the last few eps...

-- Like Gary did with his x55455455454 zoom, the writers looked up at the moon for inspiration.

-- Inahoe's characterisation = Arnie / Rei without tits. Superior to Shinji Ikari. Fans thought Inahoe underpowered / writers understood OP concerns / needed Geass power-up. Inahoe has brain damage; Battle Royale. Inahoe, using his internal hard-drive, knew Count Mazuurick would assist him in his quest through time. Inahoe can act as a navigational computer and take control of army all at once; WIN BUTTON. His Engrish theme song so kewl I dance to it; hip thrust in-sync.

-- Slaine/Blame Tryhard was driven corrupted power mad by NTR. This is why it's logical to get help to save someone, who'd just been shot by that same person. I feel empathy for someone that stalked a bitch, only to be rejected. WHO IS THIS CHARACTER? What you should be asking is WHO ARE YOU, since only in darkness does one find himself. Was headless chicken

-- Urobuchi = Shakesphere / Sawano = Horner with Engrish lyrics. In spite of Urobuchi desperate to escape assumption he kills every character he creates and/or leaves them in despair, he's the Japanese Nietzsche. Zero = Inahoe origin, rather than FateZero nod/Urobutcher

-- Aldonah takes the intrigue out of the political, making it accessible for modern cliffhanger every episode audiences. It also takes the human out of the character so as to have otakus better relate.

-- Tactical genius: more than one boss enemy at once; Evangelion +1; superior to LotGH's flanking genius + Code Geass chess

-- Everyone expected how cliffhanger would be continued; like meteor coming to end all life on Earth + Bruce Willis. Not a cliffhanger if already fell down the cliff then climb back up; GENIUS OF IT. Like Batman after back break; HE RISES

-- POWER OF SCIENCE; water healing powa; HOLY WATER. I'm positive there are a handful examples of people getting shoot in head point blank and not being vegetables

-- True art is repetition; NOT STAGNATION. If Gundam didn't exist, it would be original. Japanese originality. Cockpit name screaming very excite. Second/third coming of Code Geass. Geass R2 proved progression is regression. Disgusted that average lower than 9/10 / R2.

-- Mecha genre narrow; Code Geass good 'cause of Death Note rather than robots; Guilty Crown SAWANO / Gundam remakes.

-- Magic robots weaknesses like video games

- Princess Moe necklace memory INSTANT RECOVER. Dumb bitch wants peace when her people will suffer.
