Anime Relations: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009), Summer Wars, Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi
With Otakon currently up and running, Funimation has made a few new licensing announcements which spark my interest. The first being that Funimation will be releasing Ookami-san. I've been enjoying this show this season so I figure I'll be buying it when it's released. So far it isn't totally amazing or anything (not the next Toradora by any means), but it looks like it should be worth buying. Next is news that they have also licensed Eva 2.0! I few days ago I finally got around to watching this movie and it was rather nice. They said they didn't have it at Anime Expo, but I guess a lot can happen in a month, huh? ANN also mentioned that they announced the movie Summer Wars as well. I haven't gotten around to watching my fansub copy of that, but I've heard good things about it. I'll probably just end up blind-buying it when it comes out and watching the DVD or Blu-ray eventually.

In other random news, I've made my first ever anime DVD/Blu-ray Japanese import buy with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Blu-ray Complete Box! It took me 20 days of contemplation, but in the end I decided to spend the $320 to pre-order this awesome set. Not only does it have all 28 episode of the Haruhi TV series in chronological order, it also has some nice extras including the Live Action Concert Event and Live Action Symphony Concert Event. Pretty damn nice. I think there are quite a few other extras as well. And to top it all off, the anime is complete with English subtitles and English dub! Okay, I don't really care about the dub, but it's still pretty damn cool! So yeah, I'll have all 28 episode of haruhi both on DVD and super awesome Japanese Blu-ray! Yay! And I'll probably be importing the movie on Blu-ray if they release it with English subtitles. I don't think this will become a very major trend for me though. Haruhi is a special case. I think the only other series out right now that I'd consider importing Blu-rays for is Bakemonogatari. ^_^

Also, has released AMV Minis 09. It was alright. There were some funny clips. But for the most part, not that great. Hopefully most of the good stuff went to AMV Hell 5. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm still a little sad that I missed the deadline for submissions. Oh well. Someday I'll have some clips in a non-0 AMV Hell or Mini. Laters!
