Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
This is as random as Gintama, with the driving force being Kuro sensei himself and perhaps Akabane. However, the humour..which may seem a bit dark to some, is a hit or miss. Either you like it or you don't, and I call myself as someone wavering in the middle. The last part of the series was the weakest IMO (no idea if its a filler). Needless to say, I'll be watching the 2nd season.

Main reason why this doesn;t score higher is because Kou, as the lead isn't likeable. The music and animation are still lovely though, the plot ends halfway which makes the whole series just an intro.

As a prologue, this episode serves as good information why Futaba is so hung up on Kou. The scenes were pretty sweet and especially, the music really stood out, dramatic yet not too overwhelming. Good watch for fans of the series or manga.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
From the title, you will already get whatever you expect, therefore it does not disappoint in that genre, however its so stupid that you can pretty much turn off your brain while watching and thus will enjoy it to the max. The way it delivers the comedy though is sometimes really creative and although having ecchi jokes and sometimes repetitive, this still turns out to be very entertaining and enjoyable. The animation is also pretty good for such a show, and the ED theme is made of pure win. This is the type of show which you can just kick back and relax... and well.. be stupid for a while

Bamboo Blade
This was ok, probably average at its best, I expected the whole series to be kendo fighting most of the time but it turned out more of a slice-of-life story, even the kendo moments didn't last that long. The cast was likable though, then again, even the story didn't appear that interesting. Probably don't let your expectations get too high and just watch this for pure fun, then you'll enjoy it more.

Boku no Hero Academia
After the delight of One Punch Man, the hero formula seemed to boom and as this was by Bones, I expected a lot more. However, it fell to the standard formula of a shonen anime and I lost interest halfway. The main character Deku is by no way appealing, or I may have grown out of this characteristic main lead. Otherwise, the animation and music were amazing.

Clannad: After Story
Maybe I was just in the wrong mood to watch this but I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. Sure, some episodes brought me close to tears but some others just seemed....out there. Plus that seemingly "reset" at the end was like HUH?? If theres anything that I can't stand is that type of ending, and it just defeated the whole purpose.

Guilty pleasure what not? Still, you don't often see swim themed animes, in fact this might be the one and only so far. Gorgeous animation, especially for the water droplets, splash and swmming moves as expected from KyoAni. Still worth watching if you want something light hearted and beautiful.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
This was such a fresh take on shoujo manga parody! In fact, i'd call this the Gintama of shoujo manga. Many episodes left me in tears and sore sides. Characters were the best part of the story, each one with an even more distinctive personality than the next. Totally enjoyed the run and would love to see a sequel.

Haikyuu!!
This is one of the animes which I stepped in gingerly...wondering what was the big deal, only to be pleasantly surprised at the endearing characters, lovely music, fluid animation and a sensible plot-line. Its still a shonen anime in the end, but the characters are not too ridiculously powered up and stuff is actually believable. One of the best sports animes I have seen in a while and will tune in for any future planned series!

Haikyuu!! Second Season
What I absolutely love about Haikyuu is the extremely colourful cast, which makes me care for almost everyone, including the opponents. There are some power ups, but its nothing to do with supernatural abilities. The OST although not epic is still excellent and blends in perfectly well with the matches, making the final few episodes (showdown) a riveting watch, coupled with the excellent directing and animation. I look forward to any future seasons.

Hatsukoi Limited.
I never expected to like this series, but it turned out much better than expected. Though there was a huge cast, every character was distinguishable, and though some romances were thrown to the side, the rest were developed rather well. It all seemed very slice-of-life, funny, dramatic at times. The art especially was beautiful, with particularly soothing colors. For a quick, light watch, this show would definitely be a good pick.

Hyouka
Everyday mystery...is what this anime sets out to be. Its not for someone whos looking for serious plot, in fact, it appeared more slice-of-life than I expected. The animation was utterly gorgeous, and as expected from KyoAni, lots of detail was put into the expressions and character antiques. I found some of the cases in the middle a little bit underwhelming, but it was worth watching just for being pretty too.

K-On!
If you see a cover full of moe looking girls, with no guys at all, the only thing you can expect is light fluff and probably lots of cute moments, which is of course what you'll find here. Normally I'm not into these moe-type animes, but this turned out pretty heart-warming and made me reminisce back into my high school days.
Some episodes were a bit too 'normal' and sometimes a bit boring, but don't expect something a musical and you won't be disappointed. Also, I liked the fact there were no ecchi scenes although being an all girls animes. Overall a recommended watch, but probably not something too memorable Downloaded Episodes: 13 |

I enjoyed the manga and I'll have to say that the anime was not up to par, however despite some rocky bits, others were extremely "awwwwww" inducing. The animation was also top notch all throughout though the music was kinda forgettable. It had some sort of conclusion that would please non-manga readers, though I'd say the ending was a bit too abrupt. Hopefully there would be a 2nd season planned.

Its pretty relaxing but the storyline was kinda mediocre. After watching tons of harems, this just seemed like one of them... normal school boy with an extremely cute girl and other cute rivals who all like the normal boy...

Kimi ni Todoke
The manga was very heartwarming and the anime definitely did it justice. The story, at first glance appears extremely typical and cliche, but the way it is executed was just wonderful. Of course, this was emphasized even more so in the anime, since everything ranging from animation, characters, voice acting, colors and BGM were top notch, though keeping it 1:1 with the manga definitely helped.
The story ended at a high but incomplete note, maybe because there weren't sufficient manga chapters, but with such solid production values, no one can complain. This overall just touches your heart without trying to handle any forceful lame jokes and weaves you into it. Downloaded Episodes: 25 |

Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season
I enjoyed the soft and serene feel of the 1st season, and the 2nd season didn't disappoint too. Although some people don't really like how the anime takes its own pace, I personally enjoyed it. There was a nice mix of both drama and comedy, plus the characters were endearing as usual. Special credit goes to the beautiful soundtrack by S.E.N.S. with the combination of piano+violin that made the emotional scenes much more impactful.

Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, or maybe it just isnt that appealing, I found this romance quite boring and fast forwarded through it mainly. The characters were boring (probably coz its a H game), and although the animation is nice, the plot just didn't hold anything really attractive to look forward to, or to even care about. In the end, its easy to just lose interest in the whole generic idea and want to finish it as fast as you can

Having read the manga, I thought the anime would serve well in only 13 episodes. However, the animation was quite bad for current standards and the pacing was off. I can't sing out any praises for this anime, except that it was probably green-lighted together with the live action movie. This can be watched with no prior knowledge of the manga, otherwise, give it a miss.

RDG: Red Data Girl
I've no idea why the ratings for this show is so low, perhaps it didn't meet expectations and I have to agree too that the story didn't seem complete despite the strong start. Even then, I found it enjoyable (especially the guardian with a miko pairing), the animation and soundtrack were pretty good and story; which slowed down towards the middle still retained my interest. I hope for a 2nd season as this all just seems like a prologue.

Sakamoto desu ga?
The humour is a little weird, I found the first episode exceptionally funny but some of them seemed a little more creepy than expected. This probably translated better as a manga, but hard to animate? Then again, Sakamoto's jazzy theme song definitely added points. It was still a worthy watch if you want to relax and not keep your expectations too high due to its popularity.

I loved the first season but I have to admit the 2nd one is a bit of a waste of time. Maybe the slight character developments did help though, adding a bit more drama in contrast to the wild 1st season. Even then, I'd still say it wasn't as enjoyable and not that addictive. Still, as a school rumble fan, you might want to try it just to see what progressed.

To tell the truth I wasn't sure how to grade this episode, seeing that they skipped so much in the middle and since I didn't read the manga, I didn't know what happened to most of the characters. Its still a pretty enjoyable 2 episode OVA, but a very poor final instalment to a once superior school series

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
It's been a while since an anime has hooked me from beginning till the end, and this says a lot as an anime with drama as the tag. The animation was utterly gorgeous, characters were ok too...although Arima's fear was dragged out a little too long, and Watari was kinda brushed aside with not much background. The main attraction however, was the music, which although not so much as a masterpiece like Nodame, did beautifully. Arima's final performance coupled with the visuals moved me to the brink of tears. I had my doubts for this anime in the first place but will not hesitate to recommend it to whoever who loves music and lots of drama involved.

I guess watching romance animes like this needs appropriate time and place, either that or I'm growing out of this genre. Most of the time I think they are overdramaticising the situation thus overreacting, though it might be common for high school students. In this case, I get quite bored. Otherwise I loved the performance by the 2 seiyuus. Animation however, was quite rigid and lazy.

Taishou Yakyuu Musume.
I thought this would just be a cutesy moe show (due to the pic) but then it turned out much better than expected. The setting, colours, characters were just charming and the animation was great for such a low budget show. This is definitely for those who like a bit of slice-of-life and sports as it is definitely one that stands up there despite being unappealing at first glance. Short and sweet is how I would classify it, although I don't really mind a 2nd season if theres even one planned.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun
Index was interesting but Railgun mainly suffered due to the fact that guys were probably extinct overall, or only served in the backgrounds. The animations was great but there were so many slice-of-life fillers that I got so bored in the end and started to fastfwd, which isn't a good situation. The first bit was good, probably ep 8-13 and some random episodes when Touma appeared, but that was about it. Even the ending, although action-packed, had an extremely cheesy villian and had the most cliched power-ups ever. I don't know, this is quite a waste of time, unless you are into moe schoolgirls with random comedy and occasional good episodes.

This series deserves a higher score IF only it had a proper conclusion. Till now it seemed like nothing had happened and viewers are left hanging. Otherwise Brains Base can always be relied on producing quality stuff as can be observed from the animation and the good pacing. As a light-hearted shoujo anime, expect nothing more and nothing less and you'll be satisfied with what you get.

Highly resembles lovely complex but IMO, lovely complex was a much well done romance. This anime was kinda like a harem in the beginning, and maybe becoz i'm already past high school, i didnt find it that interesting. Furthermore, I'm not into Taiga type of loli characters.....
But later on it actually turned out ok, Taiga still urghed me a bit but Takasu was too sweet of a guy to overlook. Overall I'd say its a good watch, the romance was done pretty convincingly, and the music was good based on atmosphere. Anyone can give it a go, but you are not missing anything. True Tears
I started out with pretty low expectations but this turned out much better than expected. The watercolored animation was pleasing to the eyes, BGM was wonderful and the opening song Reflectia was also one of the best openings i've heard in a while. The plot was pretty melodramatic but was crafted out rather well, if not for some plotholes here and there, it was a pleasing watch overall. Character designs were also much better than the moe-tastic lot by KyoAni (which i secretly hate), and there were no retarded characters.

I watched this at the movies, had I known it was like an elongated episode I wouldn't have bothered.
As the reviews said so, it's more like a double episode like an OVA. Beautiful animation as usual, but does not add any value to the storyline. I didn't like that Violet herself became more of a supporting character. |
