This show is a fairly intelligent commentary on all the crazy shit it uses, which is unique for an anime, but has been done in comics plenty of times by this point. I really like it, but it seems like the director doesn't quite know how to make it work in the time he has. Sometimes it feels too mushed. That's why I'm honestly super excited for the next season.

Now that I've finished it, it seems like a great example of the limits of TV time & budget. They have to tell too often rather than show. There's just so much context for everything, that often the reveals feel so flat, because that's all the time they have for them. If next season is more focused, it'll be an easy 8 or 9. As for this, I want to give it an 8, but I just don't know. I think I will anyway.
