When someone you hold dear is met the fate of losing their life, and you have the ability to go back in time to that moment to try and save them, do you have what it takes to do it? In Steins;Gate, science is used to create a time a machine, rewinding the clock and changing the course of fate and time by saving the one life (or two) In Erased, it is a slightly more chaotic as there is no science involved, only a lingering sense of guilt and the ability to rewind the clock before a drastic event occurs. These parallel lines were what  read more

Beginning with the obvious, both Re:Zero and Steins;Gate were animated by the same studio, White Fox and both main protagonists have time traveling related abilities. Now for the juicy stuff, both Okabe and Subaru are quite different from the usual anime protagonist and aren't meant to be self-inserts for viewers. They both must overcome obstacles to save the ones they love and both feature thrilling story lines and engaging characters that break the mold of most anime tropes like Tsunderes (with Steins;Gate's Kurisu) and Moé characters (Re:Zero's Rem). The authors want you to see the MCs go through very difficult (and sometimes gory) hardships in order  read more

I cannot say the detail as it is a huge spoiler, but both has exact same theme and plot complexity with repetition. There are also tons of surprising factors, too.

Both series deal with unique takes on time travel and the consequences of changing the past. They both have elements of comedy and romance and both surprised me as they wouldn't normally be shows/movies I'm drawn to.

-Both have a heavy focus on time travel and similar rules about the past: death being difficult to change, not causing too much of a scene in order to prevent the future from radically changing, etc. -Both feature some kind of mysterious entity that is clued at to be in the know about the protagonists abilities -Both have a larger cast of college age characters that don't all know about the protagonists discovery at first but find out more as the story goes on

The idea that a secret organisation, according to the protagonist, is conspiring against him is a similarity. At the same time both series are perverted and both have a somewhat weird/special female side-character. The main characters in both series also seems a bit awkward when trying to interact with 'normal' people, yet somewhat like a leader among their own small clique/group of friends (which seems to be a coding guy and the weird girl in both series). Besides that, they also have in common that reality seems somewhat off or twisted to the protagonist. There might be more, but this is my impression after the  read more

Both animes are about the main characters trying to change the world through unnatural means (Death Note / time travel). The protagonists Light and Okabe are both geniuses, but while Light is a self-confident evil mastermind, Okabe is a good-hearted 'self-proclaimedly mad' scientist with a fair bunch of ridiculous inventions. Both have clever plotlines that will always keep you on attention and at the edge of your seat, wanting to learn more.

Both are thriller anime with a great deal of suspense and mystery. They both start out with a light almost happy go lucky feeling then everything turns dreadfully..dreadfully wrong. They both have great plot's, and while at first they may actually confuse the other. Higurashi just has a considerably greater amount of gore than steins;gate, but both are excellent watches. IF you like one you will probably like the other too.

Male protagonist who is fighting to save those he loves with the support of those around him. You have to watch the entire anime if you want to unravel the mysteries and get the entire story. These two animes have a lot in common, but I do not want to spoil anything.

The many-worlds interpretation and quantum physics. Not your usual anime bedfellows. Both series deal with time travel under the assumption that every choice we make can create an alternate, divergent time-line / dimension. Noein is a lot more ambitious than Steins;Gate, which preferred to stay within time travel limited to days-weeks and the same area. In Noein, the other selves of the child cast time travel with enhanced bodies; conversing with their younger selves as they fight using superpowers and struggle to sustain their bodies in a dimension they don't belong in. Both ZnT and S;G shares the same fashion of thriller-inducing stories and mysteries. Both stories goes on like nothing is going to happen except for what is already happening (protagonists carrying out terrorism in ZnT/conducting time machine experiments in S;G) while leaving several hints and mysteries for the audience to figure out throughout the story. This movie deals intricately with witty character interaction, good character development, and extremely similar elements of time-travel. The animation and art are both great, and the music will really pull you into the show. There are tense moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there will be light-hearted moments where you can laugh. Either way, if you watch either, be prepared for one heck of a ride! Important note:The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is only a movie you can only fully appreciate if you have watched the previous two seasons adapted before it.

Both kei and okabe have the ability to cheat the time resets/travels and remember them. There's also a time machine in both anime, microwave in SG and Haruki in Sagrada. Both shows have slow starts and get more and more complex with each episode. Both shows have plot twists. While SG has some pandering to otaku (trap, meido, tsundere), SR has none of that.

Durarara!! and Steins;Gate share quite a few interesting themes: * Both start off with a slow paced "slice of life" ambience that, very subtly, foreshadows the following... * ...Jump into a neatly intertwined plot. * Insane characters; * Norse Mythology references; * A sprinkle of metaphysics: Time Travel (in Steins;Gate) and Norse Myth Fairies (in Durarara!!). If you liked any of these aspects in one series, you'll most likely also enjoy the other. Also, there's the "same voice actor" bonus: Mamoru Miyano and Hana Kanazawa.

YU-NO was originally a 1996 visual novel, and was the grandfather of modern time-travel anime and visual novels. Steins Gate in particular was greatly influenced by YU-NO. Both involve time-travel and parallel-universes, and give scientific explanations behind it, and involve the protagonist attempting to save someone using time-travel.

Both has the same Visual Novel Company and it makes Science Fiction very realistic. A little bit fun in the first, but it will be getting very serious about the story and it can make you believe what will happen in the future.

Both use the concept of different possibilities or realities really well. Steins;Gate is a bit more straightforward sci-fi. The Tatami Galaxy is more surreal. And strange.

The settings are definitly different and at a first glance it may not seem that they are similar. They are both humouristic and have a nice feeling to them, but in both shows there are some events that puts the main characters on the edge and the story becomes a bit more complicated and darker. One is also more supernatural then the other, where as the one that is less simply deals with time travel. The characters I think are the best part of poth, as they have characters who are quite gripping.

The TV season followed by the movie tells a story of teenagers / young adults solving personal issues which develop into supernatural phenomena. The adventure taken along solving these problems has a similar feeling to Okabe's journey through realities, facing the personal struggles of his lab members. These two shows are in a unique subgenre of their own.

So, do you like seeing the characters suffer? Being pushed to their utmost psychical limit, to the point of almost giving up, yet continuing anyway to undo the terrible fate of their close ones, as the protagonists are caught up in seemingly inescapable time loop, looking for the ideal timeline? If yes, watch these two anime.

Both series focus on a group of friends in a laboratory, while one is focused on robotics and the other is focused on time travel, both series have similar types of eccentric characters... The mad scientist who's actually more of a goofball, his friend who is even more of a goofball, the quiet girl who hangs around the lab, etc. Steins;Gate's story ends up getting darker at a certain point, while Atom's remains generally lighthearted, but the similarities in terms of characters, presentation, and setting are fairly similar.

The male leads get themselves involved with matters they probably should have left alone, be it time travel or making wishes on cat god statues, and set off to undoing the damage that has been done by their actions. Both are assisted in their quest by a girl they meet by pure chance.

Both Death Parade and Steins;Gate are filled with comedy and death. They both will keep you guessing and at the edge of your seat wondering what could happen next.

Both have people that are sent back to the past. Zipang, they have a vast amount of knowledge to draw from that will help change a large war and subsequent events to come but try not to leave any significant impact on the timeline for fear of the butterfly effect and grandfather paradox. Steins;Gate, they use time travel freely and consequently create many paradoxes in which they need to keep using a time machine to go to the past and close/fix the paradoxes.

A must-see for all time-traveling enthusiasts. Steins;Gate explores the multitude of possibilities in the course of time as it unforlds (from a point in the past onwards) while Kokkoku is about entering a co-called stasis, a frozen frame, a single moment in time where some have the "power" to interact while the rest of the world around them is like an unmovable picture. They both have two protagonists, a male and a female, who get closer and closer in their relationship as time goes on and the more time that they hang out with each other. Both Okabe and Mizugaki face problems when they realise they are going to lose companions they have worked with and gotten to know after spending time with them. Great animes that deal with SCIENCE! Both main characters are named "Kyouma" and are a bit older than your average main anime character, what gives the story a different and refreshing feel. Also, they manage to step out of many character and storytelling cliches (especially Steins;Gate) and have amazing art and soundtrack.

Godzilla S.P is a very jargon-heavy kind of science fiction similar to Science Adventure series like Steins;Gate. Steins;Gate puts central focus on the idea of time travel with characters doing a lot of trial and error to get things right. Both are about time travel, though the principle through which they occur are slightly different. Also, when the time travel happens, events become slightly different. The protagonist and one other person also retains their memories from the previous times they "travelled" back. In steins;gate, this is shown in the World-line shifts when d-mails are sent. (not when okabe actually travels back further in time), and in Amnesia, it just happens when the main character is in some sort of danger. Though, Steins;Gate is more content-driven than Amnesia.

Although inherently different in some respects, the parallel I'm drawing between the popular and beloved time travel phenomenon with this older and likewise beloved movie are the themes of self-identity, of its degradation following distressing circumstances, of trauma and its ability to blur our vision of reality, distorting the very senses that leave us on the brink of sanity, and of the prevalent idea that upon losing one's sense of self, upon discovering that "other" voice in the back of your heart, you begin to fall into what seems like a bottomless pit, leaving you to question "is this the real me?"

Two works that surely share an eerie and uncanny feeling, related to the machinery and gadgets that drive the plot in the two stories respectively. However, there's still room for pleasant portraits of daily life and character development, that make it possible for the viewer to get really attached to the main cast. Both troubling, unsettling adventures with a tame use of a somewhat distressing, creepy imagery and a great use of pacing for enhancing the plot while it unravels to us viewers.

The main cast from both series are among the most amazing I have ever seen and also share many similarities. The way Yamada and Shiraishi interact with each other reminds me of Okabe and Kurisu. Besides that, Yamada and Okabe are loyal guys despite being surrounded by a bunch of beauties. Both series also deal with memory loss, but Steins;Gate is better executed with hardly no plot holes. Steins; gate is an anime very similar to re: zero, mainly in relation to the protagonist's personality, both protagonists have a huge deconstruction when the episodes happen, both suffer a lot to reach their goal, time travel is extremely similar to the return of Subaru's death, who liked re: zero will certainly like steins; gate

Both requires a brain to understand - requires you to like the concept of different timelines or parallel worlds due to our actions. But instead of full 100% Sci-Fi, Boku Ai and its counterpart Kimi Ai focuses more on the romance side of things. Love and parallel worlds. Steins;gate x Makoto Shinkai basically.

Both deal with hypothetical science, and the characters in both with to use special powers and technology to save people and create a better future. Although Madoka Magica Gaiden is also fantasy-based, they share extremely similar plot events. Madoka Magica arguably has more "action" in terms of literal fight scenes, while Steins;Gate focusses more on suspense. Both have "dark" moments, and there are certaninly some slightly terrifying scenes, but Steins;Gate also has some funny moments that provide comic relief without compromising the actual plot; Madoka Magica Gaiden has more heart-warming, affectionate scenes to establish a balance through the implementation of positive thoughts and emotions.

The main character in both shows is a genius, a very weird genius with a sad past and an heartbreaking childhood. in both shows they are helped by amazing women who are reconized as geniuses and are not there just to be an object. Both have magical aspects in their storylines and are mixed with darkness and funny parts but not too distracting. Finally both leave open the possibility for sequels which is so great.

While not as dark as "Texhnolyze," this anime deals with complex time-traveling concepts and the consequences of changing the past. It follows the story of a young scientist who inadvertently creates a time machine and must race against time to prevent a catastrophic future.

They both have a very select group of people who have supernatural phenomenon forced upon them by an outside force. Both shows have a believable hook, and well written characters to go along with it. The romances in both shows are understandable and both have very satisfying ends.

In both anime someone disappears due to a certain reason and the world resets and only 1 person remembers the individual who disappeared but to everyone else the memories of that person don't exist anymore.

Both explore the option of world lines and the whole time travel theory whereby our timelines diverge from one another. Rewrite has superpowers though, if you're into that. Warning though: If you watched Steins;Gate first, you may not like Rewrite. If you watched Rewrite first, you'll feel that Steins;Gate is much deeper and has better character development. Regardless, both anime are interesting.

Similarity : 1. Time loop concept. 2. STEINS;GATE, imo, is much better and progressive than HIGURASHI...SOTSU.

Both focus on a unique cast with a high stakes storyline set in modern day Japan with many twists and turns along the way as well as main characters developing a close relationship as time goes by.

Shifting realities, trying to save someone you care about . . . Interlude is a 3 ep ova. Too bad because it could have been something quite good given time to evolve. As roriconfan said in his review of Interlude, it was original in its day but has been eclipsed by better titles. Still, if you are hungry for this type of theme, it is an o.k. watch.

Both have a very mysterious, psychological atmosphere to them as well as big plot twists and secrets that aren't revealed until the end. The animation is great, the plot is well-written and hooks you immediately, and there's plenty of dark humour and occasional gore for those who enjoy that.

Both are thriller anime with a great deal of suspense and mystery. Both are similar in that they handle a scientific air and a kind of group of laboratory. Similar feel melancholic.

Both have a dark, mysterious thriller theme. In Denpa teki na kanojo, the main character and some other people searches for the killer. In Steins;Gate, a group of scientists researches about well... steins;Gate. Therefore, both of them includes some form of investigating. There are also no fantasy, magic, supernatural whatsoever elements in either of them too.

1) Both anime focus on trying to avoid death and being captured, although Steins;Gate executes this differently. 2) Both involve a relationship between tsundere female and male characters.

Steins;Gate has both sad and funny parts, just like Oda Nobuna no Yabou. Romance is also a huge part of the anime; without the romance, both anime will not have an interesting plot.

Both are sci-fi. Stein's Gate involves a mad scientist developing time travelling, whereas Kado involves an Alien, higher dimensions and mind boggling devises. In both anime character development plays an important role, so even though they are quite different they do have a similar feel.

The two Animes starts with a humorous beginning of the protagonists. The two protagonists are intellectual of their surroundings and will make the impossible into a possible situation. Although Steins;Gate was in more of a fantasy realm, and Grisaia no Kajitsu is more of a realistic realm, Steins;Gate is a very mysterious and mind-blowing Anime to watch.

Steins;Gate, like many other visual novels, follows the same basic story structure as Kanon. A happy comedic first half, a tragic second half, and then a happy ending. Kanon is a far superior anime though, and probably also visual novel, though i will admit to not having read the Steins;Gate VN.

I know this may seem like a bit of an odd recommendation, but I do genuinely think that these shows share a lot in common. For one, although the humour in Steins; Gate only really lasts for the first few episodes before only appearing in rare cases it's very similar to the sort of humour in Gintama in that the characters are weird and quirky and have really amusing interactions with each other. So whenever there were humorous episodes/moments of Steins; Gate I was reminded of Gintama. Another way in which these shows are similar is that both of them are really funny when they're supposed to  read more

Two quality sci-fi anime. Whereas Steins;Gate tackles the concept of time-travel, GitS 2: Innocence questions the ethics of making cyborgs/robots, and reveals the vulnerability of AI to hacking and viruses. While SG's plot is slightly stronger, GitS 2: Innocence makes for a more compact viewing, and the graphics are stunning for a 2004 anime. Since GitS 2 is reminiscent of a good old cop story, be prepared for some gunfights and explosions!

Both are stories dealing with changes in time flow and main characters who notice the changes and their [mostly negative] effects. C has more of an internal, personal conflict, while Steins;Gate's conflict is more external.

It's absolutely obvious that Popotan is not even close as good as Steins;Gate , but if you like the idea of time travel and want to see the effects of it in a decent story about 3 girls, then Popotan is actually a fair choice to watch.

Steins Gate deals with time travel, while Saiyuki deals with demons trying to find out why demons are attacking. Both contain a great story and are worth a watch though.

Whereas the two series aren't even close, their relativity could be on characters. First one, the main character, Okabe, kind of reminds me of Hachiman for his lone personality, half-chuuni humour(in between Steins;Gate's will and the 108 Skills of the Loner). But the true comparison I would suggest is Yukino and Kurisu, whereas one is from America, graduated from college and the other is in firs-year of highschool, both are geniuses. As well, both are in someway tsundere (perhaps also kuudere) ; romance exists in between them and the main characters of respective series. Both these titles are about the multiplying power of the microwave oven. In one series, the microwave is used to create multiple timelines. In the other series, the microwave is used to create multiple Nanas. I recommend these series to microwave fans, and all others.

Both titles are toying with the concept that there are various timelines of the present, which converge at points in the past. By changing the events at the junction points in the past, the present can be changed to another timeline. (For more elaborate explanations of the "many-worlds interpretation", you may check out the comic Murasakiiro no Qualia)

These are time travel stories, with characters jumping back and forth in time. The resulting present is the optimal outcome for the protagonist. He is mainly surrounded by girls, and a cross dressing character. The titles play with time paradoxa and choose different ways for avoiding inconsistencies, which makes it interesting to compare the 2.

In case you're a physics nerd then look no further. Or even if you're not and are just looking for something to exercise your brain cells with, then you should definitely give this series a try. Your hunger for science-related adventures will certainly be quenched in a visually and emotionally stunning way. The show takes place in a what-if scenario in which astrophysics/the multiverse theory is a major influence in the story. Also, in both cases the consequences can often be lethal or at least extremely hazardous to the main cast. So prepare your napkins, because you're going on a feels trip - to space/the past!

Between S; G and Inou-Battle. We can find these similarities: * Protagonist with an obsession about the existence of something, which turns out to be true. In addition to inventing names and perform actions, somewhat freaks. Additionally, have a friend from childhood, which is cheerful and seeks to understand the protagonist, despite being difficult. Although with their remarkable differences, they are equally entertaining, since they are based, something that turns out to be impossible. The protagonists are getting closer, showing parts of themselves that would not show thanks to the actions of the protagonist.

Powerful organizations target the main characters. Conspiracies/terrible secrets are uncovered. While Steins;Gate deals with time-travel theories, avoiding world domination, and preventing death (and a serious love story), Canaan explores a past involving human experimentation, rivalry, and loss. Both involve a character shouldering a burden while doing whatever they can to save a dear friend. Canaan has a lot more intense fighting, but lacks a traditional love/relationship development.

Both Okabe Rintarou, and Rikka Takanashi have CHUUNIBYOU, or 8th Grade Syndrome. They both like to come up with irrational, over-the-top stuffs, fancy themselves with delusions, calling names and aliases, and coming up with terms like "Reading Steiner" for Okabe (about his eyes retaining the past memories), and "Tyrant's Eye" for Rikka (about her Chuunibyou powers). So, if you're a fan of chuunibyous, you can watch these anime. ;)

They share a similar premise of someone trying to research time travel to alter a sequence of events, and the system trying to stop him from doing so, all in order to save his lady love. Steins;Gate had a wacky cast of characters that were missing from Hello World and a lot more focus on the Sci-Fi elements that served it well. While Hello World has a lighter tone and better visuals.

While both anime seem fun and energetic at first, they both use the tropes of their genre in order to deliver a rumination on time and how it changes people. In both cases, the main characters travel through time in some form, and the anime focus on their experience and how it affects themselves and their relationships to their loved ones. Viewed through this prism, I would say both anime are quite similar.

It involves; super-humans, ghosts, government conspiracies, Engrish speaking Americans, main character desperately trying to save his friends from a future where everyone dies and much more. Of, course if you watch the first couple episodes of punchline, you may have doubts as punchline is more Wacky with over-the-top humor but if you watch till the end you'll realize it was actually not what you would have expected and turns out to be different.

Both shows are similar in that they have a lot of tension, mixed with occasional humor and romance; however, Steins;Gate is more focused on the science fiction aspect while Kyoukai no Kanata is more focused on the fantasy aspect. They both have more complex plots that unfold as the series goes on.
