Mawaru Penguindrum is more of an acquired taste than Steins Gate and it won't appeal to everyone, but both deal with themes about:
- Love (Family, Friendship, Romantic and even obsessions), and the lengths people would be willing to go for a loved one
- Fate and changing fate
- Grief, death and self-sacrifice.

Both start out quite light-hearted and then all of a sudden become serious, both have a good drama element which will leave you wanting to watch more and both have twists in the plot that keep you interested until the end.

my recommendation is not like "oh the main character of this anime has a blue hair and in this anime, the main character also has a blue hair". My recommendation is more deeper than this. In this anime the brothers were using the power to change time and people's destinies to fulfill their selfish needs and just like this anime, In Stains;Gate, the main character also uses the power to change time and people's destinies to fulfill his selfish needs whether it's good or bad. If you liked the Mystery side of this anime than stains;gate is not really for you, but if you liked how science was used and how dark the anime was or how the brothers were trying to save their sister than this anime Stains;Gate is definitly for you! because guess what? the main character of Stains;Gate is ALSO trying to save two ppl that he loves so...watch this to see HIS version of trying to save someone using time :D read more

The essential 'flavour' of both anime is similar. They are both a confused and uncertain search for answers and exploration into the less well-understood. The manner of plot revelation is also similar, considering their timing and intensity.
The main difference between them is that Mawaru Penguindrum is a more abstract, idealistic take on the above.

Both revolve around main characters trying to save a girl, in this instance, their sister. Both include many twists and turns in the plot that don't take away from the main storyline, and also have a deep tone of "If you watch the first episode, many random things will happen, but if you watch it all the  way through, then you'll understand everything.

Both stories have a slight mystery element to them. They are both cleverly written with events that will shock you.

Both series start out light hearted before becoming dark and sad.

The art style to Mawaru Penguindrum is brighter and more colourful than Steins;Gate but I'm sure most people will enjoy it because it is beautiful.

In Steins;Gate, the main protagonist will do anything to save someone he loves.
The two brothers in Penguindrum will do anything to save their sister.

Durarara!! and Steins;Gate share quite a few interesting themes:

    * Both start off with a slow paced "slice of life" ambience that, very subtly, foreshadows the following...
    * ...Jump into a neatly intertwined plot.
    * Insane characters;
    * Norse Mythology references;
    * A sprinkle of metaphysics: Time Travel (in Steins;Gate) and Norse Myth Fairies (in Durarara!!).

If you liked any of these aspects in one series, you'll most likely also enjoy the other.

Also, there's the "same voice actor" bonus: Mamoru Miyano and Hana Kanazawa.

Well, at first glance, you don't see much similarity between these two as both series starts out with an almost slice-of-life like scenario. However...

- Both later gets into complex plots
- Both have suspense and thriller like scenarios
- Both have comedy and drama
- Both have darker tone of the story as the episodes progresses

All in all, you will enjoy both of these series. At least, I hope.

Both shows start off very slow paced, but eventually builds up to an intense plot. Although the plot is completely different, they both gave off a similar vibe. There is a lot of suspense and unexpected plot turns.

Since Steins;Gate is way more known, i'll just say that I definetly felt a Steins;Gate vibe in Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai Movie, the first season of Buta Yarou must be watched before the movie ^^

It has a very similar plot line with a main character having to use time travel to save the people he cares about. Similar themes of grief and dealing with loss are touched on. Keep in mind this is a sequel and requires watching the original series.

Both of these anime have the main character wondering to themselves which of two people they must save. They know that even if they manage to save one person, it's painful to lose the other, and they must find some way to save both of them. This can include making decisions that have big risks, losing memories, and possibly not meeting someone in the first place. They will do whatever it takes to make sure that everyone is happy in the end.

Without spoiling steins gate, both shows have a main character while fully being aware of the weird things that have been happening around them, they both have a female figure that supports them throughout the series, and especially in the movie they both delve into the theme of time travel o alter a tragic future...

As I make this recommendation, I am referring to each series as a whole. Both animes have an interesting and complex plot. Both are science fiction, and involve time travel as a major part of the plot.

This movie deals intricately with witty character interaction, good character development, and extremely similar elements of time-travel. The animation and art are both great, and the music will really pull you into the show. There are tense moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there will be light-hearted moments where you can laugh. Either way, if you watch either, be prepared for one heck of a ride!

Important note:The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is only a movie you can only fully appreciate if you have watched the previous two seasons adapted before it.

The main similarity of the two series lies in the main character and their connection to the characters around them. Both Haruhi and Kyouma are eccentric, loud, and drag their friends into untold mysterious operations. And while the friends outwardly complain, they would not have it any other way.

Two intricate plots with sci-fi elements played by some odd characters. A lot of pseudo-science and smart talk to justify the depth of the stories. Both animes also deal with time traveling (although Steins;Gate has it as its focal point).

People who like puzzling plots or sci-fi stuff in general will like these two animes.

Both animes focus on scientific solutions and the main character is a huge fan of science. They both achieve almost impossible targets. Instead of adding a lot of science fiction, they have shown almost legimate scientific steps. 

So if you are a science geek and liked Dr. Stone, you should absolutely watch Steins; Gate.

The anseres seems so easy yet so hard, knowledge in general is what people have been seeking since the birth of society its an human instinct to lern new stuff and solve proplem after problem.

Throughout the story this is what keeps you sticking to them.

If you liked Steins Gate I'd recommend watching Dr.Stone they're both really good Sci-Fi Anime, though Steins Gate might be a little tricky Dr.stone focuses mainly focuses on real-life problems that might happen and real-life solutions as for Steins Gate the anime focuses on time travel which isn't something humans can do in real-life, at least not yet I think in my opinion (lol). Both anime make references to things that exist and happened in real-life so I hundred percent recommend giving it a watch.

Steins;Gate is a soft science fiction story about an ensemble cast who's recently discovered a wonderful invention, leading to trouble both with their own use of the device, and trouble with an intervening government body. 

Both shows feature a similar group of characters and the viewer is slowly threaded along the plot until everything is revealed in the very end, and the basic premises are very alike. Both series implore the same sort of attention from the viewer, and are very alike thematically. They are also alike due to their lack of action scenes and the subtle/nuanced romance being slowly developed throughout the course of the show.  read more

Both revolve around how the prominence of new technology can change the course of the world for good or for bad. The issue of memory loss as a result of this technology also occurs in both of these animes. Steins;Gate is more sci-fi/time travel though.

The story follows a similar group of characters, whose actions get the attention of a mysterious and shadowy organization. Although the plot is different (Eden of the East is not about time travelling), both animes have eccentric main characters, good humor, a subtle and nicely paced romance, hackers, neets and the same feeling of suspense and mystery. Though taking place in a realistic world, both protagonists are eccentric, smart, and surprisingly selfless, obtaining cellphone-related power that they must use for the good of the world and those around them. Same basis, different execution.
Two series that explore theories of travel in time - especially if they are from the past - (Orange in a simple way and Steins; Gate in a more complex way). The two touch the subject, that the messages to the past exist, will create some change, and how they were sent. Just as these messages have meanings to avoid events of the past that mark the lives of people. At the beginning is the protagonist against these events that will mark inside her and the people around her/he, then her acquaintances will be involved trying to change the future without anyone being hurt. read more

Same director, and there's the same theory of time travel.

They both have romance, but;
> Steins;gate is heavily focused on Okabe's journey to save himself, Makise Kurisu, his friends, and (the rest of the world). 
> On the other hand, Orange is focused on Naho's (Main character) redemption of her past self, and also preventing Kakeru (their friend) from taking his own life in being a part of an accident.

Both have decent plots and provides a rollercoaster of emotions for the viewers.

They are both about sending letters from the future to the past and changing the past. Their ideas and stories are really nice because they are about powers, and time traveling, although I do not think that the anime orange used this nice ideas as good as they were used and focused in the anime steins gate. This anime is also like relife but not as good as relife.

Orange and Steins;Gate both express the concept of time travel and the consequences that can come with it. The main characters want to change the past and leap for a better future, but they know that there are many slight things that can drastically change the future when you try to change the past. However, with the help of their friends, they find that they won't have to bear this responsibility alone.

Both have a cast of strong leads(although Steins;gate gets the edge in character interaction), are thought-provoking with a very intricate and well-thought out plot, in the middle of which the lives of certain characters are ended, serving as a driving force for others,  an overreaching power as a villain which the cast does not know about immediately and oh, both involve time as an important part of the plot. Also, The two have certain plot holes too you will have to overlook but if you can ignore the ones in Steins;gate, you won't mind the ones in ZnT, and vice versa.

This one of my favourites animes.
The history it's very, very, very, good, amazing,  it has got a lot of intrigue (well, I think that, it's my opinion) and a little of comedy, but mainly, is serious and well, I really recommend it a lot. It has got an OVA and a movie. The visual novel is very good too.

Not many seem to relate these two, but I think besides Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, "Zetsuen no Tempest" is very similar to Steins;Gate because both portray a Well-Devised Plot and Sense of Complication. No further spoilers. Watch to find out! It's worth it! :P

Steins;Gate has things covered in terms of accidental discoveries that has gigantic potentials in disrupting the flow of the world's natural time. Just like Zetsuen no Tempest, Steins Gate focuses on the unexplainable mystery of the world while trying to go against it and return the world back to the way it is.

YU-NO was originally a 1996 visual novel, and was the grandfather of modern time-travel anime and visual novels. Steins Gate in particular was greatly influenced by YU-NO.

Both involve time-travel and parallel-universes, and give scientific explanations behind it, and involve the protagonist attempting to save someone using time-travel.

Both anime are based on amazing time travel visual novels where the main characters obtain the power to travel back in time to save their friends from a cruel fate. Both anime use a time travel mechanism based on parallel worlds which makes sure no time paradoxes occur. Time travel in SG is based more on science, while YUNO has more mystery. In SG the main characters are all teens, while YUNO has more women of which some also are teachers.

Pretty similar stories/settings. Both male MCs have a device that can be used to travel through time or through parallel worlds/timelines. Also, they are both trying to save/help those precious to them.

Steins;Gate is about time travelling, leaping back in time again, again, again, again... just to save your loved ones. YUNO also did this concept. Although it became an isekai later on, the main theme was about time leaping and saving people around the mc. The characters are very similar as well.

both animes give you a sort of "ah ha!" feeling at points as you figure out what is going  on in the plot. also both of these are based on visual novels made by 5pb and nitroplus.

on top of they they both give off a feeling of friends coming together to work on something

They both have a similar plotline with both hidden conspiracies and sci-fi elements. plus it's the third of a series of sci-fi games created by 5pb/nitro+ which also includes Steins;gate.

Both are sci-fi anime based off visual novels made by the same companies and are set in the same universe. Both are also very slow-paced in the first half but speed up in the second.

The overall stories are very different from one another (one deals with time-travel while the other deals with robots), though the similarities are most obvious in the two lead characters- Akiho and Kaito are essentially a gender-flipped Okabe and Kurisu.

Basically, if you liked Robotics;Notes at all, you will definitely like Steins;Gate.

S;G and R;N are practically identical in structure, which is no surprise as they both originate from the same author. Both anime start particularly slow, before building up to a grand climax. Both anime also have a well developed romance between the main heroine and the protagonist. Lastly, both anime have a scientific theme to them which is given by both being adaptions of the Science Adventure universe.

S;G differs with it's scientific theme of time travel, unlike R;N scientific theme of building a giant robot. S;G also is more story driven with a more exciting plot, while R;N performs much better with it's characterisation and character development. read more

It is set in the same universe, 10 years after Steins;Gate and it has an intriguing plot. There are mild references to Steins;Gate and they really put a smile on your face. The committee of 300 return as the main villain and Nae (Mr Braun's Daughter) makes an appearance as an important character.   
Overall it is a very entertaining show with lots of twists to keep you hooked.

Robotic Notes is not really that similar but there made by the same creator.The main characters kind of dull but the supporting cast makes up for it also I think you should watch/play it because characters from steins gate return and just as a steins gate fan its cool to see previous characters come back in the world you just watch hououin kyouma save from ww111 Sorry for this being horrible I didn't know I had to write a essay about why there similar and the differences

There are multiple time lines, and the main character is currently in the wrong attractor field (where the bad ending always happens) and trying to get to the right one (where he is happy). Also, the main character of Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei sort-of gets Reading Steiner.

  Jumps in the time where each creates a parallel world, where the protagonist is the great affected, but their relationships are not affected by this change. They still exist despite being parallel worlds. 
The protagonist tries to reach his goal. In Tatami Galaxy this goal is simply to have a color pink life and in Steins;Gate, it is to stop an alleged conspiracy. The issue is how hard it is to get there by shedding their bucles or mental revelations.

The story works with multiple possibilities of "what ifs" through time and space, and the protagonist is a paranoid young man. Tatami is way more experimental though. Both share a cast that is in college.

Both have the same strange and eerie atmosphere, although Lain is decidedly stranger. Lain is not about time travel, but it has the same "Matrix" feel to it. They are both crazy good, and Lain hits the ground running while Steins;Gate started a bit slower. Lain is a must watch.

Steins;Gate has a more traditional narrative structure compared to Serial Experiments Lain, but there are some notable similarities. Firstly, the cinematography and mise-en-scene of Steins;Gate takes great influence from Serial Experiments Lain (notably in terms of lighting and sound). Beyond that, both shows explore humanity's relationship with technology in science fiction terms.

If you want anime that will make you question everything you know, make you think till your head hurts, and cause you chest pains from the stress of watching, look no further than Steins;Gate and Serial Experiments Lain. 

They both are unforgettable journeys and masterpieces. Steins;Gate deals with time travel, philosophy and the consequences of playing God with time travel. Serial Experiments Lain deals with how technology has essentially become reality itself, its philosophy, and how it influences every facet of yourself and humanity.

Steins;Gate contains ideas and characters similar to Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete.

Character-wise, both shows maintain similar casts. Besides the main character, there's the male, slightly weird best friend, the childhood friend that the MC wants to protect/save, the tsundere that's in love with the MC, and a time traveller desperately trying to alter the future.

With regards to plot, both deal with Time Travel.

I would recommend Steins;Gate to anyone who enjoyed Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete, but Steins;Gate is infinitely better, and would likely leave a watcher going the other way unsatisfied.

Both animes are hard to follow,in which Steins;Gate exceeds with its amazing story.Although Chaos;Head "talks" about murders the design of its story is really similar to Stein;Gate but the way how its presented(in my opinion) is kinda stupid.

When talking about MCs,they are delusioned in their believes but also really inteligent when it comes to solving the mysteries.

While Steins;Gate is definitely the superior anime here, Chaos Head gives the watcher that feeling of confusion and messes with his or her head pretty seriously. One of Steins;Gate's strengths was keeping the watcher out of the loop while its crazy time/space changing events took place, Chaos Head also hits the nail on the head here. A lot like Steins;Gate, Chaos Head can be rather difficult to watch at times with its weaving through dimensions and time. If you are slower with subs, or have not watched a lot of subbed anime I would HIGHLY recommend watching the dub of this anime. The voice actors are fairly decent and unlike some anime, this dub is definitely watchable and does not take away from the anime as a whole. In short, if you are looking for an anime that can bend your mind like Steins;Gate did, give Chaos Head a shot. (Excuse the art which can be rough at times). read more

These two anime's share a similar resemblance not in plot or story, but in the way occurrences happen mainly on a cellphone or on a computer. And how the main characters needs to solve each piece to the "puzzle" if you will, as they go along and must rely solely on him self. Both main characters feel utterly alone at certain part of the show. There are some more similarities, that are to minor to mention.

Where there are lines of time, space that should not be crossed, that will put at risk their closest beings. He will have to fight his weaknesses, with this constant mental game that makes him look like a madman, desperate to find answers to his intriguers. These series start in a similar way, the death of a person, which turns out to be a vision ?, or can be true ?, it all depends where you are. The settings are definitly different and at a first glance it may not seem that they are similar. They are both humouristic and have a nice feeling to them, but in both shows there are some events that puts the main characters on the edge and the story becomes a bit more complicated and darker. There are supernatural elements but both shows focus on the relationships between the characters and how they develop and deepens through out.

They're different, but the feeling you have after a certain awesomesadfunnycrazy moment in either one of them, now THAT is very much alike. Actually these series will flood you with so many different feelings that you'll find yourself confused at times.. BUT there is one feeling that I remembered experiencing a lot while watching these two, and that is <frustration>. BUT again, it was worth it.

A group of friends, consisting primarily of 2 guys and multiple girls, deal with strange phenomena. In Kokoro Connect it's supernatural effects that start with personality-swapping. In Steins;Gate it's standard science fiction fare with teleportation/time travel. 

Both are darker and more serious than they first seem. 
Both are more character-driven than plot-driven. 
Both are excellent anime that put their own spin on their respective genres (slice-of-life, science fiction).

Both are very emotional series about a group of people trying to deal with a major problem at hand.

Kokoro Connect deals more with social and mental issues while Steins;Gate deals with more worldly issues.

They have a small group of people trying to deal with supernatural phenomenon. Kokoro connect has a more romantic feel to it, and Steins;Gate has a more sci-fi feel.

Occultic; Nine and Steins; Gate. Two series that show us two protagonists who are looking for some recognition of their own, on the point of the work they have been doing (in O; N is a magazine about the paranormal and in S; G are the inventions). But they are not alone, they have the cheerful girl of the group that seems not to contribute much and the next characters that are added to occur strange events. Those strange happenings since the protagonists be witnesses death, of what his investigation may be taking them, at first is a triumph for him, but then they discover that as they is investigating more on the subject, they will be involved in greater problems. Both series contain a certain possibility of what may be true, which science has not been able to discover, and which now has been possible after a long time, leaving injuries in the protagonist and in those who connect with the events. read more

Directly from the same franchise, it's time to compare Visual Novel with Light Novel.
- Both shows constitute Mysteries involving conspiracy theories that, ironically, come true with the progression of the narrative and contain a high content of explanations about the Sci-Fi that governs the main plot. This fiction, both in Steins;Gate and in Occultic;Nine, is also of a similar nature, starting from concepts of classical and modern physics and addressing synchronization between parallel universes. In Steins;Gate, however, the theories cover the form and manipulation of Chronos, while in Occultic;Nine they are more focused on the nature of the Animus, the soul.
- Coming from the same creators, both works share the narrative style. Initially, there will be a friendly atmosphere, references to otaku culture and characters with a certain charisma. However, as the plot progresses, the atmosphere becomes more serious and several details that seemed unimportant make sense in the explanations or reveal themselves as foreshadowing. It can be said that both are "puzzles" for those who watch, connecting their details at the end. However, the pacing is quite contrasting between the two shows, as Occultic;Nine already changes its nature to the first episode and has dialogues, at times, very accelerated, while Steins;Gate is slower.
- Although this term cannot be applied very well in the case of Steins;Gate, both works are drawn in an achronological order. Occultic;Nine, especially in the first few episodes, wanders between different flashbacks and events that precede the anime's first scene, which can be difficult to understand for those who aren't aware of it. Steins;Gate, on the other hand, constitutes a narrative of time travel, repeating several scenes and linking time loops in its script.
- Some characters may look familiar when watching both animes. Yuta Gamon and Rintarou Okabe, for example, are protagonists who own small groups that seek advancement in a certain department. Steins;Gate and Occultic;Nine have plenty of similarities, despite being based on two completely different aspects: science research and paranormal activities. In both shows something that our main characters can't understand at first happens, farther both series are based on investigating the strange phenomena. Moreover both are a mixture of drama and comedy, alternating heart breaking and funny moments.
fun fact: an occultic;9 character makes numerous references to steins;gate itself.

Both are very exciting anime, with lots of plot-twists, well-made and rich stories, great voice acting and lots of thrills.

In Steins;Gate you get to see time-travel and all its effects on the human mind and its possibilities.

While in Code Geass you see the ambition of a young man who gets the power to command anyone to do anything and manages to create an uprising against an empire (Britannia).

This recomendation is made specifically for those looking for any and every Anime dealing with time travel. I prefer Seikimatsu, but each series has its own charm and own take on the whole matter. One is also more supernatural then the other, where as the one that is less simply deals with time travel. The characters I think are the best part of poth, as they have characters who are quite gripping.

Awesome soundtrack, character development, an impossible romance, lots of plot twists, incredible seiyus (voiceovers). In the end you can't stop watching this after 4-5 episodes, you're hooked and need to finish it off =)

Let's play the both game! Both:
Are based on video novel games
Are in the top 5 rated shows on the site (I'm talking about after story but that's Clannad to)
Are psuedo harems where the winner is pretty much clear from the beginning
Feature some altered timeline mumbo jumbo (Although in very different ways)
Have a slow start but likeable characters that suck you in

The difference starts to become clear after you've gotten to know the characters, these are very different series in almost every way. The main difference is that while Steins;Gate makes you feel miserable and very good and everything inbetween it does more of making you feel good and being funny than it does making you feel miserable. Clannad is basically that but inverted, most people cry when they watch Clannad but that same group of people would think of Steins;Gate as a sort of action film (you feel like everything will work out). That does not detract from the fact that both series are excellent in their own way and definitely a must watch for a true anime fan. read more

SoL, comedy, slightly harem, time-travelling.
The MC has a male friend which isn't competition, but closer to comic relief.
The MC is quite interesting, has entertaining dialogues and interactions with other characters.
He starts off in a light-hearted SoL, which evolves into more serious drama.
Something happens to one of the protagonists, which affects the MC, but resets occur.
There is romance, which puts it above simple harem.
There is also a similar plot-line about a father who's lost very important breakthrough physics papers about alternate dimensions in a plane accident, which comes into play later on.

Though the differences may seem small at first, there is a similar atmosphere about them. Steins;Gate is essentially a slice of life anime in the disguise of a science fiction thriller. There are multiple episodes that, from the eyes of an outside viewer, would seem like filler added to pad out the plot; however, it becomes clear to one who is watching how necessary each episode is to tie the plot together. Multiple episodes towards the end of the series feel like they were yanked out of the end of a Clannad arc. Likewise, each miniature arc in Clannad is needed to reach the end. Steins;Gate essentially attempts to bridge slice of life with science fiction, while focusing on the sci-fi. Clannad works similarly but instead focuses on the slice of life, where the supernatural elements only come together at the very end.

Ultimately, though, the main similarities are the boundless, witty humor driven by each series' respective loveable male protagonist, his interactions with the people around him, how it is contrasted with a deeply moving drama, and the inevitable romance that sprouts from it. read more

There are so many similarities between these two shows even though the plots/stories are incredibly different. first of all, both series are very dark and involve a lot of action. the main characters in both series are incredibly alluring and the female supporting cast is epic as well. mayushii and yin are both mysterious heroines whose roles and relations to the male protagonist remain a mystery throughout the series. most of all both shows own SUSPENSE!!! great thrillers that are both a MUST WATCH!

If you like one, there is a big chance you will like the other. They are both amazing shows that take their time to get you into their world, but once they do you will be hooked and you wont look back. Protagonists share a lot of similarities, but saying anything more would be a spoiler. These series are epic and thrilling, with an amazing plot and a lot of plot twists. Definite recommendation to check them both if you haven't

Being pushed to their utmost psychical limit, to the point of almost giving up, yet continuing anyway to undo the terrible fate of their close ones, as the protagonists are caught up in seemingly inescapable time loop, looking for the ideal timeline? If yes, watch these two anime.

Both series focus on a group of friends in a laboratory, while one is focused on robotics and the other is focused on time travel, both series have similar types of eccentric characters... The mad scientist who's actually more of a goofball, his friend who is even more of a goofball, the quiet girl who hangs around the lab, etc.
Steins;Gate's story ends up getting darker at a certain point, while Atom's remains generally lighthearted, but the similarities in terms of characters, presentation, and setting are fairly similar.

Both have people that are sent back to the past.
Zipang, they have a vast amount of knowledge to draw from that will help change a large war and subsequent events to come but try not to leave any significant impact on the timeline for fear of the butterfly effect and grandfather paradox.
Steins;Gate, they use time travel freely and consequently create many paradoxes in which they need to keep using a time machine to go to the past and close/fix the paradoxes.

P5 and SG have teenagers who lead normal lives but later involve something dangerous and powerful that they will have to put every effort despite the hardships they have to go through.

Ryuji Sakamoto and Rintaro Okabe have the same Seiyuu and I cannot help but compare some of their aspects.

A must-see for all time-traveling enthusiasts. Steins;Gate explores the multitude of possibilities in the course of time as it unforlds (from a point in the past onwards) while Kokkoku is about entering a co-called stasis, a frozen frame, a single moment in time where some have the "power" to interact while the rest of the world around them is like an unmovable picture. S;G starts off really slowly but at some point BAM! it hits you strong and accelerates. Kokkoku is going fast (oh the irony!) from sec one. There's lots of violence in both cases, if you have a weak stomach better avoid them during lunch time. read more

They both have two protagonists, a male and a female, who get closer and closer in their relationship as time goes on and the more time that they hang out with each other. Both Okabe and Mizugaki face problems when they realise they are going to lose companions they have worked with and gotten to know after spending time with them. Steins;Gate goes into more detail of this problem with a slower pace and how the main character overcomes it.

Similar concept. Steins;Gate is time travelling, Akanesasu Shoujo is parallel worlds travelling.  Starts almost the same way where the caracters find out their device actually works out of pure coincidence. A dimensions traveller also stays with the cast to serve as a guide.

Great animes that deal with SCIENCE! Both main characters are named "Kyouma" and are a bit older than your average main anime character, what gives the story a different and refreshing feel. Also, they manage to step out of many character and storytelling cliches (especially Steins;Gate) and have amazing art and soundtrack.

Both dealing with unnatural phenomenons and surrounded in mystery. The emotional leaps and ecchi that were in Steins;Gate are not present in Another, but I would say you should at least give it a shot. I enjoyed it.

While Baccano is not about time travel, I feel that people who enjoy Steins;gate should try out Baccano. It is bloodier than Steins;gate, but full of mystery and you get the thrill of understanding more and more each episode. Once you finish the series, you will want to rewatch it to understand it better just like Steins;gate.

This might seem like a weird recommendation but both these series have the sort of story where the protagonist stumbles onward trying different things only to realize the error of his ways and the way the world works way later in the series leading to an epic finale.

These two series don't feel the same but I can't help but think that if you like one you'll like the other. The pacing is similar in that it is slow at first but picks up speed constantly untill you're glued to the screen. There are even similar elements relating to memory (where one character has memories of something the others do not and is therefor isolated). The protagonists of both shows must face an overwhelming power on their own and while they have support from their friends it is not applicable to their situation some of the time.

There are some people who might be bothered by how relaxed the creators of these shows are about gender roles or whatever. In Steins;Gate there is the trappiest of traps and in Shinsekai Yori there is a boy on boy kiss - something which has horrified the communtiy to no end. If this somehow disturbs you too much to be able to enjoy good anime then I recommend Mars of Destruction. read more

Godzilla S.P is a very jargon-heavy kind of science fiction similar to Science Adventure series like Steins;Gate.

Steins;Gate puts central focus on the idea of time travel with characters doing a lot of trial and error to get things right. Godzilla S.P, takes concepts from various fields, from mathematics, materials science, topology (some overlapping with the concepts discussed by Steins;Gate) all going towards the characters solving one problem.

If you are a fan of time travel and parallel universes, then you are surely to like these two. Both have a different way of story telling apart from other anime that would be a refreshing change of pace. the two have terrific plots and awesome likable characters. They also not fall apart in terms of enjoyment level, comedy and drama.

Both are about time travel, though the principle through which they occur are slightly different.

Also, when the time travel happens, events become slightly different. The protagonist and one other person also retains their memories from the previous times they "travelled" back. In steins;gate, this is shown in the World-line shifts when d-mails are sent. (not when okabe actually travels back further in time), and in Amnesia, it just happens when the main character is in some sort of danger.

Though, Steins;Gate is more content-driven than Amnesia.
