Star Driver is obviously very influenced by TTGL when it comes to the mech battles. The over the top animation style is the same, the beautiful universe background during the fights comes from the final battle from TTGL as well. There are many other similarities throughout the show.

Produced by Studio Bones, Star Driver and Captain Earth are mecha series with style. But more than that, there are also mysterious origins relating to the world both series are part of. In essence, there are strange phenomenons involving the main protagonists as they deal with mysterious factions. There is decent amount of action, drama, and focus on the conflict between various characters. If you're looking for a mecha show with similar style, these two titles should be under your radar.

Penguindrum reminded me of Stardriver a lot because of the whacky music and transformation sequences.

Both shows have dual settings. One of a normal high school life. Another is a parallel environment where students participate in battle but the effects between the two settings are limited. The series also share a heavy influence from musical themes.

Star Driver and Code Geass are most memorable to me as series that seamlessly blend school life with rather convoluted conspiracy plots involving plenty of mecha action. The main characters are faced with an incredible burden and eventually, have to save the entire world in their respective ways. That's where the similarities end, however. Both protagonists have very different personalities, and the setting from which their stories take place is very different, with very different motivations. Star Driver remains mostly formulaic with every episode having more or less the same structure, whereas Code Geass builds upon itself in the form of missions that can span  read more

Star Driver is the original anime that covers Action, Romance and Mecha genres in one Anime. Without Star Driver being the first of its kind, Darling in the FranXX would never be written like it is. I cannot stress enough that Star Driver is one of the best animes that will make you feel like shouting out your youth and moving forward with life. While having a smile on your face the whole time. Your galaxy will shine!

Fabulous mecha filled action with bishounen around every corner.

Both are made by Bones, they take place at a southern island and revolve around strange looking mecha. There is also a certain painting that most likely will catch your eye.

If you like FABULOUS fighting, transformation scenes, a song that's played before each battle and questioning your sexuality after watching each episode you'll love both of these.

Monster-of-the-week show portraying a mysterious transfer student entering a facility controlled by a group of shady individuals with ulterior motives. Magical transformations, fabulousness, possibly more.

i think these are similar in a way that the main characters are heroic while using machines or mecha. Both anime are romantic and some scene in IS are hilarious! Both are good anime and i recommend them both.

Mecha with absolutely fabulous protagonists

Both these series are somewhat of a comedy for the mecha genre. The way the mecha are controlled is also very similar.

Without doubts both series do not share same nor similar genres but: - The main character in both series has a cheerful, cool and brave personality. - Both main male characters are played by the same Seiyuu: Miyano Mamoru - Both made by Studio BONES Star Driver kinda gives the feeling to have Tamaki (Hos Club) with a mecha background. So somehow i feel to advice to watch one if you liked the other :3

both have robots pull things from their body, in guilty crown many thing could be pulled from another individual, in star driver the main protagonist can pull things from his body, sword

Both shows seem to be Ikuhara-inspired Mech shows in a school setting. Expect over-the-top insanity and subtle visual storytelling.

Whenever I watched this anime I always think of Symphogear. Both anime overall have the same feel to it.

Both feature plots in which the main characters have to fight alone against numerous mechas similar their own, with really great animation during the battles. Both main characters also have issues regarding their fathers, although the way they're implemented is quite different in each of the shows.

Reiji is very much like Takuto in early episodes, where he learns to settle in and reveals himself to be a brilliant pilot. The plastic model kits, Gunpla, in the world of Build Fighters are given life with Plavsky particles, on the other hand, the Cybodis are merely white statues without a pilot possessing a mask or mark.

both have a secret organization . both have secret identity and have meeting with face covered. both are Action, Mystery and Shounen . both series take place in school. both have some enemy character supporting the main character . both have a game setup by someone for the main character

Both series were made with quality 2D animation, from the realist moments to the Super Robot Zero-Time moments. Gundam Build Fighters Try features miniture model kits made to move like actual mecha (mobile suits) with the invention of Plavsky particles Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto, features giant statues called Cybodies that can be used as mecha in a dimension called "zero time". The trio of Fumina, Yuuma and Sekai resemble Sugata, Wako and Takuto, respectively.

Both series heavily focus on teenage romantic comedy and drama antics, while also featuring extradimensional super robot fights with a lot of flair, presented in a MOTW format.

both main guys go into another "world" so their basically outsiders but they manage to make friends and stuff both main guys are voiced by the same dude (who btw is awesome) both guys are very flashy and artistic and already know some moves before coming to the "anime" both have a lot of female leads behind them. both have shounen battles both main female leads are of high status and can't leave where they are so easily. their's colourful hair everywhere in both animes. there's little to no blood, but their still both mature animes.

Both are by Bones and have much romance, mecha and good music.

Similarities: * The main character is a boy born with special power; * Animation is kinda alike too. * Both of them has that "Sailor Moon" (that means - flashy, colorful and sometimes akward o.o) transformation. So if you liked Star Driver you might like this one, and way round.

Both anime for those who love random but enthusiastic storylines with a mystical flavor and secret societies.
report Recommended by ErgoSis
Similar structure. Both are "monster of the week" shows and the episodes of both series consists of a school life part and a random fight. The exact same thing is repeated over and over every week in both shows.

the main cast are a trio who are in a love triangle ans shit happens between them, so they both fight at some point. both main guys move to a new location where the other 2 were already are. takuto and kida are voiced by the same guy. izaya=head because they act the same most of the time. both trio's in each anime all have different powers unlike each others or the rest. there's a girl in both animes that have "unpleasant" fantasies between the 2 guys...

Similarities: - Both male characters wear funny looking outfit, except for Takuto who only wears it when he's operating his mech. By the way, I kinda hate the red shirt with a big star that he's wearing as his normal everyday clothes. -Both have anorexic and gay looking mechs. -Both are good in fighting. -Both utilizes an "X" to call out their mechs. -Both didn't realize their purpose until in the later episodes. -Both like to eat. -Both are attractive to women, co'z of their bad boy look. -As always, girls are involved whether it is a Damsel in distress or just some random excess baggage tagging along. Dissimilarities: - One is a  read more

In both shows the main guy moves to another city/island, and they're basically outshining everyone there and getting pretty popular. Both includes romance, action and a bit off comedy, only thing that's different is the setting

Star Driver and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari are extremely similar, and if you like one, its hard not to like the other. Both involve a school setting as well as mecha fights. As well the main characters are both extremely skilled as a mech driver and a fighter (not to mention are huge hits with the ladies). The only differences are: Isekai has alot more ecchi and harem situations than Star Driver Iseaki moves around a little more (multiple settings, where as Star Driver (so far) has only one) If you enjoyed one of these series, definitely give the other one a try, they are different enough that  read more

Both Star Driver and Saint Seiya Omega are shonen action shows with magical girl (make that magical boy) elements (complete with reused transformation sequences and named attacks) and a fight-of-the-week format starring a hot-blooded redhead with rare powers and parental abandonment issues stemming from an absent father. The main protagonists even have the same color scheme.

Both Heroman and Star Driver are optimistic mecha shows with an enemy-of-the-week format (usually aliens for Heroman and high schoolers in ridiculous outfits in Star Driver) and magical boy elements, and are both animated by Studio Bones. Star Driver has a little more depth, complexity, and sexual themes, but both shows are very idealistic.

Same situation where the guy has to protect the damsel in distress, the difference were one is into sci-fi and mech, while the other is more into magic and fantasy.
