This is a show that is best enjoyed going in blind. So I’ll do my best reviewing this anime without spoiling anything by putting my thoughts on it as brief as possible by saying you NEED to watch this show!
It has a lot of twists and the story is unpredictable and it gives you a rush and engages you like very few anime can nowadays. Many anime these days play it safe and don’t take risks by being as dark and bleak as shows from the 80s-90s.
If you are an oldtaku or are someone who enjoys older anime, this anime captures the rush that anime

I enjoyed this anime a lot, I wish there was a second season. The characters and the designs were quite satisfying. Entering this some what dystopian world, it was most intriguing though the protagonist's eyes. The plot isn't that sophisticated but still introduced elements that may be further developed in the manga and ideas that can be further explored in-game. It felt short with only 12 episodes to watch but was enjoyable and interesting nonetheless. I did not read the manga or play the games, but I like this genre; however for those who did, some have been disappointed with the anime. I

Before i write anything I just want to remind all the readers that I did not read the manga or play the game.
This anime shows 'friendship' NOT 'boy love' so i recommend it to everyone. (if you like slow anime that it) The story...well, I kept of telling myself ''I'm sure there is more to the storyline'' while watching it ,but sadly I was wrong. I think that 12 episodes are just too long long for this anime as there wasn't much of plot at all. BUT i must say they did a good job with the 'friendship' part. I enjoyed it a lot. Not all ... Togainu no Chi is an anime that had a lot of potential, but... ultimately failed. There was one thing I liked, which was the characters. But, in order to love an anime truly, you must like both the characters AND the story. The story was... honestly, barely there, with a disappointing ending. The game is apparently quiet popular, which is sad, since the anime turned out so horrid. The plot was great, but they didn't use it for the great-ness it could have been. The art style was good, though. Although, I did enjoy the theme music, but something about the ending themes always felt

Okay. I went into this anime with very low expectations. I'm currently writing this because some of these reviews make it seem like this anime is awful. It's not btw. It isn't some jaw dropping show but I enjoyed it.
Quick Review: If you want a quick dystopian anime to watch, I recommend it. To start off, I played the game. The anime does a pretty good job at including parts of each of the games character routes (there are 5 in the game) and making it a coherent story for the most part. Some things were left out, but it's understandable being a 12 episode anime. ... Jul 18, 2013
(this is my first review, don't mind me -lol)
The first time I watched I thought it was just... lame. Because I, honestly, was expecting more bl. I mean, I did enjoy the story, but I was still wanting for more. I really hade hope on Togainu no Chi. And then I found out it was an BL game adaptation. I played the whole game, and it just turned out to be amazing. Then I watched the anime a second time, keeping a few points in my mind: - ANY adaptation won't be as good as the original, with few exceptions. - It was a TV show, so ... Oct 13, 2021
I liked it. It had potential, but it failed to adequately flesh out the characters/character-relationships & story.
It just didn't flow & explain the backstory well enough for those of us who haven't read the manga, novel or visual novel. Which made some parts a bit confusing. Also, what happened to the bl? There was nothing boys-love about this anime, which was disappointing. I mean, I didn't expect explicit, but there wasn't even a hint bl, not even implied, it was more bromance if anything. Still, I liked it, it was average. I certainly didn't dislike it, I just think it had potential to do much more. ... Jun 19, 2018
Some potential was wasted with this anime. Despite this, it's not as horrible as it seems.
The story could've been done better. Honestly, if it were a bit longer, it might've turned out a bit better since there'd be more room for backstories and flashbacks that're essential to getting to know a character. Also, while it may seem that the story started good but went off track, everything was eventually wrapped up in the end. Thinking about it now has made me realize that I actually liked how certain things played out. The ending was relatively good but I just wish I knew more. From what ... Dec 23, 2010
This anime has the premise of fighting, blood, and potential Shounen-Ai. Now the blood and the fighting we get and the BL, the main reason why many girls watched this-none at all.
REVIEW- Story-6 the story is about Akira getting convicted for a crime he didn't do, and he has to go play Igura, a fighting game where a person has to collect dog-tags to beat the "last boss," Il Rey. The BL element, as i have said, is almost non-existent, The most one might hope for is Akira and Keisuke's relation to hopefully blossem of Rin and someone to get it on Art5 It was ok, however, half ... This is a bad anime...as far as the visual goes. In the sense that during pretty much any of the fight scenes(especially big fights), the camera is never ON the characters. The only time you really get to see any fighting is just a typical punch or kick and clashing of sword/knives. Another thing is the blood...it is literally this bright red color. Completely unrealistic.
That being said as poor as the visual are, I actually enjoyed this anime. The story was a bit ehh at times and it felt like it was trying to do a bit too much at one time. That being said, ... May 7, 2012
This is my first review: Togainu no Chi is based off of Nitro+Chiral's first BL game. Me, a BL fan and who is currently playing their newest game DRAMAtical Murder, I feel like they could have done a better job with this show.
Yes, they did create this anime based off from the game because of their 5th year anniversary but I feel like the story could have been better. Story(I'm not going to spoil it too much): Akira is accused for a crime he didn't do and is forced to participate in a dreadful game and in order to survive, he must face off with the boss ... Ho boy here we go. I knew one day I was going to actually write out a review for this lovely piece of work, and today is that day.
For a little background on this piece, this anime is based off of the first BL visual novel released in 2005 by a branch of Nitroplus called Nitro+CHiRAL. This visual novel then got a manga series in 2006, and finally this anime came out in 2010. This anime was supposed to be the 5th year celebration of this game. Instead of being a celebration though, this anime right here is the perfect example of ... Oct 7, 2011
well my friend say that the anime sucks and the manga is better well i never read the manga so i wouldn't no if the mamga is better.but from my point of view the anime is okay a lot of action and to me the boys look pretty also the anime really does not base on a boy x boy its more like a boy x slave kind of thing its more based on a battle game and everyone needs to survive so i give it a 7

I came to this anime expecting BL, and instead found a lot of misery, death, bloodbaths, more misery, senseless character deaths, quasi-existential yammering, more death, more blood, and a feeling of dissatisfaction and pointlessness.
I haven't played the BL game or read the manga and I suppose I should have checked the reviews before watching this so I could have avoided this exercise in anime-watching masochism. There is literally no emotional pay-off to watching this. At all. The good guys don't win. The bad guys don't lose. The bad guys also don't really win. Nobody really wins or loses, everything is miserable. The one character development ... Nov 26, 2011
Togainu no Chi is an enjoyable anime for those who like anime with hot guys angsting and fighting each other.
In a dystopian future, the city of Toshima forms the setting of a bloody battle royale. Fighters are drawn by the prize money or just coerced into competing. You win by collecting a good poker hand of card dogtags each fighter wears, then fighting the ultimate boss. Meanwhile, there’s a massive conspiracy involving a mysterious street drug called Line. The anime is pretty heavy on innuendo between the male characters (let’s be honest, there’s only one female character in the cast). I’d call this basically badass versions ... Nov 16, 2017
After being devastated in the third World War (known as The Third Division), Japan was divided in two. Several years after the end of the war, a crime organization called Vischio has taken control of the destroyed city of Toshima (formerly Tokyo, Japan's capital city), where they are holding a battle game known as "Igura". The main character, a young man named Akira, is falsely accused of a crime. Once arrested, a mysterious woman appears before him, offering him freedom if he agrees to participate in Igura and defeat Igura's strongest man: the king, or "Il-Re". The story follows Akira's life in the harsh, lawless

Togainu no Chi This anime was, very up close and personal. I love anime that contains violence, blood, and especially death, even dismemberment Because I literally can find nothing or no anime exciting more that besides psychological anime. But, that type is on a whole different wave length then the previous ones that I mentioned earlier. This anime literally had me so very excited. I hate how animes like this one has, so few episodes. I wanted it to be so much longer then it was. Nonetheless. This anime was gory and awesome. I love gore. But, I didn't care much for the ending though.

So some of these reviews are negative, or maybe alot of them haha. But regardless i did enjoy the anime. I mean im not one for the whole gay thing(yuri) cause i mean frankly, i dont want to watch a bunch of gay anime characters. But despite the fact that there was some strong yuri in this i thought it wasn't half bad. Now i never read the manga, and i heard it was much better so i think the safest thing to say is if you aren't into yuri or whatever genre this is supposed to be, as a lot of people say it

I didn't play the game or read the manga before I watched it and at first I hated it a lot. And at some point I even just watched it for Shiki. But I wouldn't say this anime is confusing or a waste of time. I loved the anime and actually wished it would have gone on a little longer. The ending was kinda confusing but I thought it was great because it touches on the main guys feelings and makes him realize the things he has in life are important to him, like his friend. But it was to late when he realized that.

Togainu no Chi is a pretty good anime, except it could have gone so much farther and the concept was amazing. There could have been another long and super popular anime there but it was cut off and was ultimately kind of disappointing, but I couldn't rate it horribly because it was a good show, and the concept was really great. The characters were good, the art was good, everything. It's just disappointing that it wasn't more. It could have been SO awesome not that it isn't great now...
I guess I would recommend it, it is violent so violent-anime-lovers, this would be for you (me ... |
