Machi Gurumi no Wana: Hakudaku ni Mamireta Shitai

[UPDATE] - 1412hrs-28.09.14

I have (just) watched the new entry of this series - (Episode 04) RAW - and I must say that this is well done.

The end sub version has yet to be released, as I am awaiting that, though (I assume) will take its time for some reason, as before with Episode 03.

I can't say too much as I don't know if the series will continue forwards or not...

So, without repeating myself too much, the same results are seen in this new entry as before with the past entries. (so no need to repeat myself on the artwork, sounds, etc)

~ what I did notice ... and have found:

** PoRo has placed new positional scenes and new visual angles to one eye, if anyone pays attention.

** The characters are placed - deeper - into the world pd debauchery and betrayal.

** New characters are presented, as well as a black character - (who is seen in the game) - Many have stated that this is a first for PoRo, but if memory serves me right, they've been present before with another PoRo/collaborative earlier release.

** The Characters (as in usual PoRo standard) still wear clothing while having sexual encounters.

** I have also noted that (some) of the pixilation is starting to be less noticeable in PoRo releases.

** I finally found the Seiyuu for Atsuko and I placed a request for her to be added to the Seiyuu list, as she deserves it for her range of work for (both) anime and Hentai.

To my surprise, she had done the voice of - Yurippe - from Angel Beats (however) she uses a different name credit as the Seiyuu, but, it is her.

If your continuing to follow this series from PoRo, then don't miss this new entry, you shan't be disappointed.

I have just re-watched the eng sub version of this episode once again using a current Sub_group... episode 03, so I am editing this previous review.

This episode is kind of difficult to discuss, due to all the spoilers that it contains - however - the storyline (appears) to be a - "mixture prelude" - to the events that occurred in episode 01, yet the only event that is in question is the - 'virginity scene' - event. - I need to re-watch episode 01 and 03, it to be very certain.

Many of the questions that were present and unanswered in episode 01 are fully explained in this episode.

I will write a [UPDATED] continuation review of episode 03, more in depth (without) adding any spoilers, after re-watching the previous episodes.

Artwork -

¬ This has been improved greatly and is sharp and clean. - continuity is better in episode 03 than in the previous episodes.
¬ The locations are as they're represented in the game by Syrup.

Sex scenes -

¬ I can say, that the vanilla sex scenes are upgraded, the sounds are increased and more prominent than before.

Sound -

¬ The sound is more pronounced than before - however - it seems that the PoRO always has a habit of introducing new sounds with each release. - imo - it seems that they're always experimenting with new sounds.
As an example - without giving away anything - when Atsuko goes on her knees, its different this time round versus how it was heard in episode 01. - this maybe due to the area she is in, but it did sound - "different".

Music -

¬ In terms of the music, new musical pieces are heard in the background. (however) they have been heard in other Hentai releases - in case of one scene, it added dramatically to the scene taking place.
Again, PoRO has a habit of doing this in their releases.

Storyline -

¬ The storyline is heading in the right direction as in the game (as I mentioned below).
¬ Now whether it will continue to follow in - "that direction" - is still unknown, episode 04 will have to answer that.

¬ I am suspecting that several more (possible) episodes will follow - as this is just my personal opinion - as newer characters have been added to this game series to which (each) have there place in the storyline.

¬ This is a good direction, as it harkens back to the good old days of Hentai when episodes continued with an actual story and like anime episodes, one looks forward to seeing what will happen next time. - though in the case of Hentai, it takes months (instead of) weekly.

¬ Its been mentioned that they're - "milking" - this series, but who cares, its damned good. - so watch it and make your own decision.

Characters -

¬ Atsuko and her sister return once again and they look somewhat better... though this episode concentrates more on Atsuko more as in episode 01.

¬ Kenji makes a very brief appearance..

¬ New characters have made there presence known in episode 03 and more have been mentioned that are unseen. - hence the reason for the continuation into episode 04.

¬ I'll stop here for now, and will add more - after - I have re-watched the previous episodes.

¬ As far as this Hentai goes, its one of my all time favourites.. as was stated from a earlier review... for some unknown reasons, its hits the right cords, draws one attention, and is a very under rated Hentai...imo. - granted, its NOT for everyone, but for me, its great!

¬ I shan't repeat what the previous review stated about this Hentai, it was spot on, so much so, that I don't have anything to add to it, but since this is a review, I shall add a few additional tidbits.

Story ~

¬ PoRo, the usual storyline of deceit, blackmail, and taking advantage of the main heroines naive personality, however, its only borderline, as they are smart.

Art ~

¬ The art is good and was clean, bright, and made the characters likeable. - however, it seems that the artwork was rushed somewhat in episode 2 of this series, which concentrated on Atsuko's younger sister. - its rather obvious that it was rushed.

Sound ~

¬ The sound was spot on, and for the situation very well, to the scenes where Atsuko is violated, added a sense of wanting to reach through the screen to rescue her from the clutches of Kenji and keeping her to oneself.

¬ The - "sex sounds" - are there, just muted somewhat, and that adds to the deviancy of it all.
¬ You don't hear the slapping of flesh being pounded, rather the erotic expulsion of semen, as it enters the vaginal orifice or after the forced oral is completed, once ejaculation occurs.
¬ the scene in which Atsuko is forced to give oral to Kenji and Kenji ejaculates is usual, however, the release of her mouth after such action, comes complete with a slight - *popping* - sound after she completed her forced swallowing. - its theese subtle sounds that make this an very interesting hentai to watch.

¬ Even the subtle sound effects of the swooshing of fabric, the bed being laid upon, to the background sounds were excellent and are made to be appreciated..

¬ Voice acting was great, especially concerning the female leads voice, that I want to find out - who the seiyuu is for the lead female character, she's that good that I have taken interest. so that I could follow her other work that she has done.

Character ~

¬ I could write an entire section concerning the main character, but, I will not do that. - however - Atsuko, her design was perfect.
¬ From her clothing, white hair bow, yellow side-bow, down to her long legs, to her body composition and structure was all enjoyable, erotic, sensual, that it she was pleasing to the eyes, and was not overly done, as is usual for Hentai to do at times, which focuses on the oppai, which are large.

¬ The first set of clothing she wore was simple, a classic white shirt, blue sidelit mini-skirt and black pantihose. - this simple clothing was erotic in itself and quite a departure for the usual clothing set-up which is constant in a hentai. - however her second/third clothing that she is forced to wear, is actually a fantasy that kenji wanted to see worn, as it was a eroge character's magical seifuku that is mentioned within the the game (however) not in the hentai.

Enjoyment ~

¬ This is a (very) underrated, under appreciated hentai and should be watched for what it is - "a hidden jewel of Hentai" - which is profoundly erotic, sensual and very pleasing. - don't judge this hentai by it cover or by the negative reviews, watch it and make your own decision on it worth.

Overall ~

¬ Love it, and I wouldn't mind obtaining a BD copy of this excellent, sensual, erotic hentai... even uncensored (if possible) and that it included a lot of extras as well.

On a personal note: I WILL SAY THIS THOUGH...

¬ I am now a Takagi Atsuko fanboy! - I really like this character, and for some (unknown) reason I find her appealing in all respects. - I have collection of images and sound bites, that would do a collector proud. - After watching the Hentai, I looked into the game aspect of it...

¬ The game, concentrates on each of the characters separately, so being a Atsuko fanboy, I just remained with her storyline and I was not disappointed.

¬ The storyline is more complex, more of a rapefest, which starts off as the first installment shows within the Hentai, with slight variances, but remains the same. - However the scenes become more and more intense with each scene (then) it takes a different turn.

¬ Each character, Kenji, the dad, principal, and other male students, each take their turn with Atsuko, in which there is no longer any hope for her (or her sister). - that they become the complete blackmail victim(s). - in essence becoming - "trapped".

¬ The game also delves into the tentacle-phantastic... and glory-holes deviancy.

¬ After playing the game, I also decided to find more about it and found that there's additional books, images, which are available after doing a complete and thorough search. - so I gather up all that I could find, like dakimakura, mobile phone cards, light novels, books, (all Atsuko related) of course.

¬ Like the Hentai, the game has excellent quality played about, the images which of course, are standard type for the usual Hentai-game of this genre, which is text type and you just follow the predetermined storyline choices, which has some (choices), but they usually follow through in terms of either (early ejaculation) or (continued assaults) on the female characters.


Last words ~

¬ I would recommend this Hentai, to those who can appreciate a difference in a Hentai from the usual standard fair that is brought forth.

Machi Gurumi is yet another hentai from PoRO. If you're familiar with them, you probably know that many of their works have two things in common:

1) Incredible "vanilla" sex scenes
2) Really painful plotlines

Well, that's Machi Gurumi in a nutshell. It traces out the downward spiral of events for two fairly likable (or at least sympathetic) girls. As such, it might be rather difficult to watch. However, if you can at least tolerate it (as I somehow managed to do, for reasons not entirely clear to me), you'll probably find that Machi Gurumi is hot. Very hot. So very hot that I can't say that it ... is anything but an excellent hentai. But then again, that's really all it is.

Story (6/10):

Machi Gurumi follows two very unlucky sisters (unlucky in the sense that they ended up in a PoRO title). The older sister (Takagi Atsuko) has just been hired as a teacher at a school, and the younger sister (Takagi Yui) is a student there. Their father also works as a clerk there. At this school, there is also a problem child, Kenji, and he is also the headmaster's dear son. When a brief series of events ends up alienating Kenji, the headmaster gives Atsuko the task of bringing him back, under threat of their entire family being kicked out. Of course, this being hentai, Kenji uses this opportunity to force Atsuko into having sex with him. In addition, a mysterious third-party starts blackmailing her. Caught between a rock and a hard place (pun intended), she has no choice but to soldier on. Unbeknownst to her, Yui is facing similar circumstances...

I kinda like the set-up. It's not brilliant, but it's pretty solid and rather complex for a hentai title. Other than the third-party blackmailing and separate-but-intersecting plotlines, though, it plays out like a typical blackmail hentai. Due to the nature of the blackmailing in this particular show, it gets pretty creepy; if you can't handle incest, stop a few minutes before the end of episode 1 or face the consequences.

There's a lot left unsaid in Machi Gurumi. A fair amount of background info on the family is implied but never stated outright. This certainly makes the show more interesting and even gives it some small sense of subtlety, but the ultimate lack of explanation results in a certain nagging curiosity. This, paired with the unfortunate fate of the heroines, makes the ending rather unsatisfactory. I was really hoping for some justice, but it simply never came (pun intended).

As far as I can tell, there's no deeper meaning to (or theme underlying) Machi Gurumi. It's just a sex-fest, like some alternate-reality, malicious version of Fukubiki! Okay, it's more like Oni Chichi. My point is, the story exists to provide a context and excuse for the sex. So, if you're not in it for the sex, if you can't handle incest, or if you can't handle rape, then Machi Gurumi has absolutely nothing to offer.

Character (3/10):

Machi Gurumi's primary draw is definitely not its characterization. The characters have, at most, a shred of personality.

Headmaster: Creepy jerk.
Dad: Disturbing creep.
Kenji: Creepy loser.
Atsuko: Caring, but naive and powerless.
Yui: Spunky, but powerless.

I find it easy to see how these characters could have been deeper. For example, Kenji could easily have been a sympathetic, socially-awkward character who disrespects others in the same way that they disrespect him. (That was actually my first impression of him.) With this set-up, Atsuko could have gradually helped him learn to interact with others in a positive way. But no, that would be an entirely different show. Machi Gurumi is not nearly that deep or that optimistic.

The greatest accomplishment of the characterization in Machi Gurumi is the strange sense of thoughtfulness that the heroines radiate. As easily as they fall into the common traps of blackmail hentai, they just seem more intelligent and pensive. It's hard for me to pinpoint what makes me think this, but it might have to do with the cinematography (a few lonely, quiet scenes), the sheer amount of internal monologue (a lot), or the fact that they just aren't quite as stupid as many girls in hentai (which doesn't say much). The sisters' trust in and loyalty to each other is also an interesting dynamic, but it is not fleshed out. Having only 2 episodes with a plot like Machi Gurumi's is not very conducive to building subtle relationships.

Art (9/10):

PoRO once again delivers on the visual front. The colors are bright, and the lines are sharp. The background art is actually fairly good, but for the most part irrelevant. The animation is mostly fluid, although it's nothing particularly impressive. Shortcuts like looping and talking-head-syndrome are used unobtrusively. The cinematography is strong, with good use of lighting and camera angles, but there's nothing hugely out of the ordinary. The scene composition is good, even moody at times, and the scene transitions are occasionally notably good.

The character designs are pretty reminiscent of other PoRO works. Suspiciously reminiscent, if you catch my drift. Similarities to other PoRO heroines aside, the girls look quite attractive. Designs are on the cutesy side without being lolirific. Eyes are empty pools of color (typical of recent moe-ish hentai). Proportions are reasonable. The heroines are very distinct in terms of body-type, providing a large amount of variety for only having two girls. In terms of outfits, it's basically just school uniforms and hair ornaments, but they do look good. The main males in this series are pretty diverse in design, but none of them are attractive. There's also a lot less detail given to them, and they don't seem to change their facial expressions very often (most notably the Dad, who has an unwavering blank expression and creepy smile). Interestingly, the men never remove any of their clothes. I think this says something about the one-sided-ness of the sex in Machi Gurumi.

Speaking of the sex in Machi Gurumi, it's all "vanilla," pretty much kink-less. To be honest, the sex is not particularly diverse. We see oral, anal, and vaginal, some inner-thigh action, several of the simpler positions typical to hentai, and a few different settings. Of note, the girls never take the lead.

Machi Gurumi makes up for a lack of diversity with incredibly erotic seximatography, excellent pacing, and a high level of explicitness. Camera angles are daring and dynamic, mixing close-ups with full-body shots. Positions are held for just the right amount of time to prevent stagnation without seeming jumpy or rushed. There is energy in the sex scenes, despite the fact that the girls are not taking any initiative at all. There is a large amount of movement and attention to detail, helping to mask the use of shortcuts like looping. Machi Gurumi is also surprisingly realistic when it comes to the amount of semen released during ejaculation. This means that if you like to see bucketloads of the stuff, Machi Gurumi is not going to do anything for you.

Overall, the sex scenes are very, very, VERY hot, assuming you can get over the fact that it's all rape. I'm not a big fan of rape scenes, but Machi Gurumi somehow doesn't portray rape as overwhelmingly harrowing. It's a welcome break from reality for a title such as this; I like not feeling awful.

Sound (9/10):

Overall I'm quite impressed with the sound. The background music consists almost entirely of synth-strings and piano, which sounds classy. The score also capably supports the mood; the music is hopeful and regretful at its happiest and eerie and menacing at its darkest. The ending theme is different for each episode, although both are fun little piano concerto thingees. The first is rather joyous, while the second is agitated. Both are good, but I wish the first were more appropriate to the mood of the show. By which I mean that I wish the show were happier.

The voice acting is a mixed bag. The girls deliver excellent performances in and out of the sex scenes. They're very expressive during sex, emitting all sorts of cries of pain and pleasure. The men...are passable. Kenji's voice is really breathy, and it sounds very, very creepy. The heroines' Dad kinda sounds like he just took a fistful of valium and is in happy tranquil fun land. Pair that with his permanent smile and somewhat blank expression, and he is on a whole new level of creepiness. He's like an evil, serial-killer version of Mr. Rogers. It's probably all intentional, but still, it's really unpleasant. Anyways, moving right along, the sound effects in Machi Gurumi are super-understated. If squishy sounds are important in your sex scenes, then Machi Gurumi is not going to be your kind of thing.


WHAT I MEAN BY ALL THIS:

I'm not going to kid myself into thinking that Machi Gurumi is good for anything but the sex. That's really all there is to it. It provides a decent set-up, a fairly intriguing story, and pretty good presentation, but these do not drive the show. They merely support the sex. And what sex it is!

It's a painful and creepy story, but the sex scenes flow from it in a way that works fairly well. It's rape, but it doesn't scream "PAIN!!!!" and "ANGUISH!!!!" at you until you feel like a terrible person. The men are ugly, but the cinematography minimizes their role. Machi Gurumi takes a story-type full of unappealing conventions and carefully downplays them in order to reduce them to non-issues. It's a bit surprising how effectively it does that.

As such, it's very possible to enjoy the sex scenes even amidst the horrifying context. And that's the whole point. So, if you want something that's mind-numbingly hot and "vanilla," and if you can deal with rape scenes, then Machi Gurumi is a pretty stellar hentai. Highly recommended for the sex, but not much else.

PORO is a company that have the same storyline in each of there series all rape that why i hate the people who make the story line for poro . i like the charaters in the series but the stroy lines are all bad they make u feel bad if poro made a hentai with character that really love each it would be much more better because all they have in there hentai are rape blackmail if it was love or harem like one guy with many girls or lovers or fall in love or comedy love i ... would like poro but now its just dreaful . i think that the wirter in poro are rapest because that the only thing they wirte about plz poro do something better then rape and blackmail because whore character are good and i love the art but i hate ur storyline if u plan on watching this watch it forbthe art not the storyline
