Sentai Red Isekai de Boukensha ni Naru

The Red Ranger, Tougo Asagaki, finds himself transported to another world in the middle of a fierce battle against forces of evil. Upon arriving, he quickly makes a name for himself as an adventurer and takes on a job from a young mage named Yihdra Arvoln. With his eccentric powers and frenzied personality, Tougo blazes through the mission with her.

After the quest, Tougo and Yihdra begin adventuring together with their respective goals. Tougo strives to help as many as possible in the new world and find a way back home, while Yihdra desires to redeem her family lineage of mages and make magic accessible to everyone. Along their journey, the duo discover the limitations yet endless potential of the bonds they forge as they overcome adversities to achieve their aspirations.

PEAK.FUCKING.FICTION

Just when you thought Japan had run out of ideas, they said, “IT’S NOT OVER YET!” and dropped this absolute banger.

In a world that’s already witnessed the adventures of 1,000 black-haired MCs, a pig, a sword, a magic vending machine, and fucking Osamu Dazai in another world, you might think originality is dead. But fear not, my brothers and sisters, because now it’s the leader of the Power Rangers stepping onto the isekai stage.

Originality isn’t just alive—it’s out here drop-kicking clichés in tight spandex.

For starters:
“Is this anime corny?” Yes.
... “Is this anime over the top?” Obviously.
“Can I finally turn on my brain and start taking things seriously for crying out loud?” Maybe... but here’s the catch: put the same amount of logic and critical thinking into this anime as you would while watching Power Rangers or any Sentai show.

Sure, it has heartfelt and emotional moments—those classic, tear-jerking speeches about never giving up and shit—but i'll be real. Most of the time, it’s just our MC screaming “THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!” and beating the absolute crap out of anything remotely evil.

Now, let’s talk about the MC:
Is he corny? Yes.
Is he over the top? Absolutely.
Is he annoyingly optimistic? HELL YES.

He’s the Red Sentai, for Christ’s sake—that’s his entire gig! You can’t expect anything less from the guy.

This is the dude who transforms, and the entire background explodes for no goddamn reason. This is the guy who punches and kicks all his problems away, no matter how big they are. And when I say he’s always screaming about “THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP,” I’m not exaggerating—he literally does it. Every. Single. Time.

If you’re worried this anime might be boring, don’t be—because the creators made the perfect choice: they picked the red Sentai.

If the blue one overthinks every fight, the green one doesn’t think enough, the yellow one tries some convoluted strategy, and the pink one just sticks to the rules, the red one just yells, “FUCK IT, HERE COMES THE MEGAZORD!” That’s the energy we’re working with here. This anime had plenty of chances to be boring, but instead, the creators said, “NAH.”

Another thing this anime nails is showing just how ridiculously powerful a Super Sentai can be—and how utterly destructive their gadgets are. That’s something you rarely see in your average Sentai show because of live-action limitations, low budgets, and the fact that they’re fighting demigods every week. But in this anime? All those limits are gone. You’ll finally see how insanely strong even one ranger is.

Now, you might think our MC is just another overpowered protagonist, but don’t worry—he struggles. A lot. There are plenty of moments where he needs help from the heroines and other characters.

However, there is one crucial flaw: the animation. It’s... mediocre, especially during combat scenes. I was hoping for something as fluid as Fuuto Pi, but unfortunately, not every studio has the budget for that kind of quality. It’s a letdown, but the story and sheer insanity still make it worth watching.

Overall,if you are a fans of Tokusatsu and don't mind adding another isekai to your list,try this one, it's a 9/10 show but through the sheer POWER OF FRIENDSHIP, it's 10/10 now.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (3/12 eps)

is "The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World" Unique? Yes.
Fun? Most the time.
Bad? Not really.
A masterpiece? Lets not go that far.

Here’s a breakdown of my thoughts: the good, the bad, the mediocre, and what you should know before diving into this anime.

The Good:
Premise & Characters;
The premise is refreshingly unique, offering a concept I’ve never seen in another anime. It kicks off with a solid start and introduces a hilariously clueless main character nicknamed “Red.” His entire charm lies in his being a complete bonehead, paired with his ability to transform into a Power Ranger-style mecha.
Red crosses paths with a mage named ... “Yihdra,” whom he befriends (somewhat forcefully). Yihdra serves as the voice of reason in their party, creating a dynamic driven by their contrasting personalities. Most of the humor stems from their antics, with Red playing the dumb, oblivious protagonist and Yihdra taking on the role of the smartass sidekick. It’s a classic “idiot MC and intelligent partner” trope, but their chemistry works well. Together, they drive a lighthearted story that balances comedy with some decent action sequences.

The Bad:
Basic Clichés & Tropes;
A large amount of the story elements are similar to many basic fantasy animes that release every year. Such as meeting royalty and becoming their protector, or the obvious trope testing the hero’s abilities to prove their worth. Adding onto the fact of this anime having a common "oops, I suggestively fell onto you in a almost sexual manner and everyone is now looking at us" or "I said a somewhat easy to misunderstand statement, so people believe we are in a relationship now" sorta clichés. While these tropes don’t ruin the story, they make parts of the anime feel predictable and overly familiar.

The Mediocre:
Comedy;
The comedy is hit or miss—there’s no middle ground. When it works, it’s genuinely funny. When it doesn’t, it falls flat and can feel forced.

What to know before starting:
This anime is primarily a comedy with fantasy action elements. The humor takes center stage, while the action and Isekai themes are secondary. If you’re expecting a serious action-packed series, you might want to adjust your expectations. Think of it as a comedy with Power Rangers-inspired action sprinkled into an Isekai world.

6.75/10 – Pretty decent so far, but it could be much better if the comedy were more consistent.

I enjoy the comedy of this series quite a lot and I loved the first episode. But when the show started taking itself too seriously (aka episode two onwards) I lost all the interest.

The worldbuilding is extremely generic, the production is poor at best, and the good comedy is lost among walls of boring text.

Overall, Red Ranger is some wasted potential. I think this show had a good shot at being a very entertaining comedy, yet it is an action/adventure anime instead - and the writing and directing are miles behind what would be necessary for such an anime.

I can't really recommend this show to ... anyone as it is just a generic low-value isekai with few interesting comedic elements thrown in the middle that are lost amidst a sea of mediocrity.
