I would recommend this anime to everybody who enjoys Kengan Ashura or Baki, everybody who enjoys martial arts or hand-to-hand combat in anime should give this series a try.
At times, the animation seems a bit incomplete, but the fights are really well-choreographed, realistic (outside of the main roster of fighter characters being killing machines engineered for carnage), and animated. This may be because the studio wanted quality animated fights in an anime about fighting, which makes total sense. In the name of god, I knew I was gonna see dangerous dudes beating the crap out of each other, so that's where I want the quality

This anime was incredibly impressive. Not only was it entertaining as an anime, but the legitimacy of the actual combat scenes throughout was surprising. Shows like Baki and Kengen Ashura use unrealistic (though still captivating) techniques, where Garouden uses examples of actual techniques and applies a bit of anime exaggeration to them. If you are a fan of both anime and real life martial arts, I highly recommend this show to you. It's dialogue is a bit simple, but i believe that also plays into the reality of fighters not being the most articulate people in the world. I'm very excited to see a

If you like fighting anime/manga this show is for you.
The animation is good, the plot is kinda shallow but thats not important in this kind of show, the fights are very good and realistic the movements are smooth and you can understand every technique, tbh feels like you can learn to fight just watching the show. The characters are good but the anime lacks a variety of "important" fighters in he cast, some fights are cleary rushed wich is a shame, but the fights are nice to watch and they are not too predictable. Overall is a very good show for those who like fighting animes/mangas, cuz ... Jun 16, 2024
Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf is a series that shares a lot of similarities with others like baki or kengan ashura with the fights being the main spotligh now the thing is to make it short that the choreography of the fights are really good even to standarts of others series in the same nature this one really stands out on that but the fights itself are shorts and end in literally seconds wharever might be the most important ones or not all of them leaves you cold because are so fleeting that feels like you blink and all ended like nothing.

When I first saw Garouden announced on the Netflix Anime channel, I will admit, I was interested and looking up to give it a watch, however, after finishing all 8 episodes, I came to a conclusion, one I am not content with, but must voice and accept.
Garouden is not as special as it makes itself to be, especially when it comes to the story it tells. It has a lot of potential, I'd say it has even more potential than the likes of Hajime No Ippo and Megalobox, but the writers failed to put it up that shelf above the two. Except for the main ... Edit: finished the series and it is definitely the best modern fighting anime I have seen. There is no BS in this series, just hardcore fighting. While I hope there is a season 2, the lack of hype makes me worried...
4 Episodes in and had to see what others thought about it. Pretty disappointed at the lack of hype and low rating. Garouden deserves better. Anyone into fighting animes knows of Kengan, Baki, and now Windbreaker. Garouden falls into the same category but it takes a much more realistic and character-driven approach to the genre compared to the others. The world Garouden takes place in ... Aug 25, 2024
This anime is somehow worse than Baki (the new baki) for me, and in a few ways. I’ll start by using Baki as a comparison.
In Baki, there is Atleast an attempt at culminating excitement in the watcher. At using characters to build hype for the climax. That may be because Baki has a very in depth rich manga behind it. Garouden does aswell, but the story of the main character fujimaki is more left to interpretation and not as in depth in the source material. This was Netflix’s attempt at creating a deeper story for Fujimaki. His story was already badass as is. So, it ... May 24, 2024
If you ever wanted a martial arts anime to fall asleep to then this is it. I would describe it as the opposite of Grappler Baki. Characters are emotionless cardboard cutouts. These dudes have one facial expression and literally look like boulders being pushed around. It's like they went through the characters and set their personality sliders to zero. The biggest sin of this show is that the fights have zero buildup. The tournament arc starts out of nowhere with a full roster of forgettable generic fighters. If you are looking for anime with hype moments then sadly you won't have any of that here.
