Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!

Despite not understanding much about fleeting teen romance, first-year high school student Kazuhiko Nukumizu still wonders how he would react if his life were to be turned into a love story. Regardless, as a self-proclaimed "background character," Nukumizu is satisfied continuing his life as an introvert with a negligible social life. However, he suddenly finds himself too close to the spotlight when he witnesses his popular classmate Anna Yanami be rejected by her childhood friend in the middle of a family restaurant.

While Nukumizu wishes he could just forget what he saw and move on, Anna ends up forcefully confiding herself in Nukumizu, lamenting her status as a childhood friend fated to have her beloved stolen. As he becomes dragged into Anna's situation, Nukumizu soon gets caught up in the relationship drama of two more girls: Lemon Yakishio, an outgoing member of the track and field club; and Chika Komari, a shy member of the literature club. Now thrust out of his comfort zone, Nukumizu finds himself a major character in the lives of too many losing heroines.

Make Heroine — or whatever you prefer to call it — is a pretty chill anime. Maybe for some people it feels too chill, but honestly, that’s fine with me.

Because of its high score on MyAnimeList (somewhere around 8), I came in with pretty high expectations. The story follows the everyday life of the MC, Nukumizu Kazuhiko, who somehow gets caught up in the love drama of his classmates.

To be honest, I’d rate the story around 6 or 7 out of 10. Not bad, but not particularly outstanding either. However, the character development is really solid. Nukumizu himself feels realistic and well-written, and my favorite ... character, Yanami Anna, is just amazing. She’s one of the most realistic female characters I’ve seen in a rom-com — cute, yet believable.

When it comes to visuals, this anime really shines. Maybe not on the same level as Ufotable, but A-1 Pictures did a fantastic job. The animation is clean, expressive, and beautiful to watch. The opening theme by Bocchi Boromaru fits perfectly with the visuals, making it one of the most memorable parts of the show.

So yeah, giving it less than a 7 would feel kinda unfair. If MAL allowed 7.5/10, that’s exactly what I’d give. But since it doesn’t, I’ll stick with 7/10.

I really hope there’ll be a second season. I haven’t read the manga, but I’d love to see more progress between Nukumizu and Yanami. If that happens, it’s going to be epic — from nothing to something! 😂

Mixed Feelings

ive watched rom-com most generic ones and i will keep watching those and i love back ground characters and i see a back ground character here and i love him basic ass what i expect from a down to earth character then in first few moments he thinking about love just to say expect love and there is love not for him at all its for others around him he got friends nice so while fulfilling all those friend allegation i want is to interduce a girl and make him fall in love thats it from there i dont care in here he never loved ... anyone and he never will from what i see this his character simply break the moment love is introduced and im sure of it i wanna see it until then i will go with "Make Heroine wo Katasetai!!" which is far more peck then this in my eye and have all the good things i found from this specially girls. as last tangential thought i dont like the blue hair i almost never dislike a character specially a girl but i dont like her,

it kinda too similar to real world real love im sorry im sorry i dont hear a thank you at all.

This show was advertised as a romance anime "without the drama", but after the first few episodes, you realize that there's nothing BUT drama! The high rating here (around 8 at the time of writing) is definitely not deserved. The animation is very smooth and bouncy, and I believe this is the main reason it has such a high rating. However, the writing is terrible. Everything feels forced: the jokes, the drama, the cuteness, the romance... None of this flows naturally; it's not paced well. It's shoved into your face, especially the dramatic parts. While the show did get a couple of laughs from me ... here and there, most jokes just fell flat. The main female character is annoying, has little chemistry with the male MC, is the butt of a recurring joke that is not the least bit amusing (the food), and so to make up for all of this, they have to 'up' the cuteness factor with the animation. Of course, this doesn't work. As for the male MC, I still don't know what makes him unique or memorable. You've seen his type in countless other animes, and this one is just a blend of the usual loner-turned-social that just wants to 'help'. At the beginning, we are led to believe that the story will be a romance involving him and the female MC. But then a third of the way into the story, we have a bait and switch, and we focus heavily on other characters, leaving the romance behind, not to be touched on again until the very end. Speaking of which, the struggle to finish the last episode was real. I was checking the remaining minutes every so often. The tone of the last episode is so drastically different from the next-to-last one: from overly dramatic to chirpy and relaxed. It's jarring and off-putting, even more so when you realize that the writers tried to force the romance back again in the very last minutes. Do not waste your time on this one.
